08: Back at Home!
As I was walking back to the room drinking coffee I had gotten across the street, walking with Chasity holding my hand. I heard McCoy speaking to someone.
“Oh, don’t be so melodramatic. You were barely dead. It was the transfusion that really took its toll. You were out cold for two weeks.” McCoy explained to James who just woke up. “Ari didn’t leave your side for those two weeks, you really gave her a scare.” McCoy added for amusement.
“Transfusion?” asked a confused James.
I walk in without him knowing. “Your cells were heavily irradiated. We had no choice.” I added to him scaring James and I smile. “You’re awake. . .”
James smiles nodded and asked. “Khan?”
“Once we caught him, I synthesized a serum from his super blood. Tell me, are you feeling uh. . .homicidal, power-mad, despotic?” McCoy explained in question at the end and I laugh a little putting Chasity gently on James’ bed and she hugged him and he gave her a one sided hug quickly.
“No more than usual.” James answered. “How’d you catch him?”
“We didn’t.” Both McCoy admitted with a small smile and I move away from the door while McCoy moves to the other side of James’ bed.
“You saved my life.” James saw Spock and smiled still holding Chasity.
“Ari and I had something to do with it too, you know. . .” McCoy mused to him and I laugh a bit. Not caring one bit.
“You saved my life, Captain and the lives of many oth. . .” Spock began speaking but James interrupted him.
“Spock just. . . thank you.” James stated to him as Chasity held him around his neck, making sure she won’t ever let her daddy go. . . not ever again.
“You are welcome, Jim.” Spock replies with a smile and James, it sounded odd coming from his mouth, but I guess we could get used to it.
“I missed you daddy. . .”
James smiled closing his eyes. “Missed you too, Chasity.”
“Where did you go?”
James looked at me and I take a deep breath and let it out with a huff. James looked back at his daughter and stared into her hazel eyes. “I was at work, like mommy does too.”
“But mommy was upset when you were asleep, she was even talking to you.”
I was shocked, oh my god. SHE WAS HEARING THOSE CONVERSATIONS?! My eyes couldn’t get any wider as James smirk appeared on his face. No, no, no!
“Was she?”
“Mmhm!” Chasity frantically nodded her head. “She was saying how much she missed you and all kinds of stuff.”
DEAR MOTHER OF GOD!
James looked at my flushed face and I looked away like I didn’t do anything. At least he would make a fine recovery. And he’s in a hospital in case I need to cause him more pain.
At least I know he won’t bug me about what I said.

“There will always be those who mean to do us harm. To stop them, we risk awakening the same evil within ourselves.” James was addressing the Starfleet memorial gathering a year later after what happened with Marcus and Khan.
I honestly couldn’t believe it’s been that long, Chasity was two in half years old and she could understand what was going on. Chasity throughout the whole year kept asking questions on where Pike was and we couldn’t think of an answer, but when we finally caved in, we told her the truth about everything. I couldn’t bare to see the sad look in her face, so I held her as she cried. Wondering why a bad man would do that.
“It’s because he didn’t have a perfect life like we do.” I cooed her. “He had a rough life, where all he knew was how to fight. We know how to explore and help people.”
After that, James and I vowed that Chasity would join us on our five year journey, I had no one to watch her anymore, especially the day care, not for five years.
Chasity sat in my lap wearing black and I was wearing our standard uniform with a hat on my head. “Our first instinct is to seek revenge when those we love are taken from us. But that's not who we are. We are here today to rechristen the USS Enterprise, and to honor those who lost their lives, nearly one year ago. When Christopher Pike first gave me his ship he had me recite the Captain’s oath. Words I didn’t appreciate at the time. Now I see them as a call for us to remember who we once were, and who we must be again. And those words. . .”
When I walked with Chasity in tow, I followed James to the bridge where we would begin our journey, as a family.
“Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of Starship Enterprise. Her five year mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilization. To boldly go where no one has gone before.”
I heard the door slide open and James stops at the door when Chekov was happily back to being a yellow shirt as he announced.
“Captain on the bridge!”
We walk behind him, Chasity in her mini yellow uniform dress matching James shirt. I smile when we see Sulu in the chair.
Sulu rises from the chair and smiles at James. “Captain does have a nice ring to it. The chair’s all yours, sir.”
Sulu walks off to his seat, and sits down and James picks up Chasity and sits her down on his lap and I smile and walk to my chair to get ready to launch.
“Mr. Scott, how's our core?” James asks our famous engineer, with a smile on his face.
“Purring like a kitten, Captain.” Scott replies as happy as he can be. “She’s ready for a long journey.”
“Excellent!” James cheers and stands up putting Chasity down on his chair and she sits there with a smile on his face. He touches McCoy’s shoulders and cheers more. “Come on, Bones, it’s gonna be fun!”
I laugh at McCoy’s reply in a dull tone. “Five years in space. God help me.”
James walks by Carol seeing her stand there almost sadly, and I get up from my seat, and stand beside him and greet her before James could.
“Doctor Marcus, uh. . .I’m glad you could be a part of the family.”
Carol smiles and nods. “It’s nice to have a family.”
James touches her shoulder gently and then begins to walk back to his seat and called out for Spock.
“You’ll get used to the craziness, I promise.” I laugh quietly making her nod.
“Where should we go?” James asks Spock as I walk to the Captain’s chair and touch Chasity’s head.
“As a mission of this duration has never been attempted, I defer to your good judgment, Captain.” Spock answered him with a small smile.
James nods as Spock walks off to his station and James picks up Chasity and sets her back into his lap, I smile. “Mr. Sulu, take us out!” Chasity chimes making everyone chuckle. She certainly had James’ demanding attitude.
“Aye, Captain!” Sulu smiles and with that, we left to world’s unknown, wondering what kind of excitement this journey will entail us.
