Everyone couldn't help but be in awe when they saw the creature. However, as Shiki looked away, a look of sadness was plastered on his face. When Rebecca looked at Shiki, she began to see why the boy was so upset.

"You're worried about Yuuki, aren't you?"

"He said his friend was the reason that he made it to the ship. Just a few moments ago, he witnessed the Chronophage devour Guilst's time while his friend was still possibly on it. Plus that look on his face....it kind of reminded me of myself when I left Granbell but worse."

~Flashback~
"Yuuki!!! Thank goodness, you're okay!"

"........."

While Shiki and Rebecca were happy to see Yuuki made it back to the ship, the boy simply turned around. He didn't want to face anyone on the ship. At least, not for now. While he was walking towards his room, he spoke up.

"I'm sorry, but can I be left alone for a while....."

"Hey now. I've been quiet about this for some time, but what are you hiding?"

Before Yuuki could leave the room, Weisz put a hand on his shoulder to prevent him from leaving. While Yuuki still had his back turned, he listened to what Weisz had to say.

"You've been quiet for a long time, even before Guilst. Plus it's obvious you're stronger than the rest of us Ether Gear users. I don't feel to keen on having someone mysterious and strong roaming around and could betray us at the blink of an eye."

"I..........."

"What is it you're after?"

Just as Weisz said this, he felt someone holding his shoulder. When he turned around, he saw Shiki shaking his head. As Shiki pulled Weisz away from Yuuki, he spoke to the red-haired boy.

"Tell us when you feel comfortable. After all, that's what friends do."

".....thanks, Shiki. See you."

~Flashback ends~
"I hope he'll be okay."

"I would as well. He seems like a good opponent for sparring. Oh no, I spoke my thoughts."

While Shiki and Homura voiced their opinion, Rebecca began to think. It was thanks to Yuuki that the B-Cubers escaped and found clothes, plus he gave them directions to find her. Not to mention all the stuff he did on Guilst. While he's quiet and a bit weird, she just couldn't see him as a bad guy. As Rebecca was thinking, she saw Happy looking at her.

"Is Yuuki gonna be okay?"

"I hope so Happy."

~With Yuuki~
As Yuuki was lying in his bed, he kept thinking about Yukihina. He clenched his fists tightly as he hated himself even more. It felt like history was repeating itself to him. As Yuuki closed his eyes, he thought to himself before going to sleep.

"Save Makoto....build a future that would make all of us happy. YOU NEED TO LIVE, YUUKI!!!!"

".......i'm a failure who couldn't save a friend a second time. How could I possibly do that, Yukihina?"

~Dream~
"The Eden Project?"

Lily was seen talking to a man who was visiting the orphanage. He had long black hair and black eyes. He wore a long sleeved white shirt with a pair of jeans that had a loose belt around it and black shoes.

"Yes. This project is formed to help children with an Ether Gear have better control over their powers. This way they won't be a danger to themselves and others. Of course, you'll be compensated if you agree to this. Then you'll have enough money to take better care of the kids here."

The caretaker was thinking about the man's offer. To be honest, the offer he gave her was kind of twisted. This man wanted her to abandon the children with Ether Gears, just for the sake of every without an Ether Gear in the orphanage. The fact that those Ether Gear users weren't included in the prosperity of the orphanage made her answer clear.

"I'm sorry, but I must decline. While the offer is tempting, I refuse to treat the children as bargaining chips. They're human just like you and I. I refuse to use their lives just to make things more convenient."

"I see. I understand, but if you decide to change your mind, please do let me know."

With a smile on his face, the man left the building. Meanwhile, Lily was seen sighing. Honestly, she felt ashamed for even considering the idea. As she began to get back to her duties, she was unaware that Makoto was on the other side of the room as he was walking quietly back into his room. As Makoto entered his room, he talked to Yuuki and Yukihina.

"Guys, you'll never believe what I heard!"

"What is it, Makoto?"

"Is it about that guy that Miss Lily was talking to?"

Makoto smiled nervously as he nods his head in agreement. He forgot that Yuuki's hearing was extremely powerful, so him hearing about what he learned shouldn't surprise him much. As Makoto explained the situation, he looked at his two friends.

"So guys....what would you have done if he approached you instead? I mean, you two have cool powers, wouldn't you want to be able to control them. Think of all the cool stuff you could do!"

"Makoto, I think Yuuki and I are in agreement on one thing. Sure, being able to control our powers might be good but......"

"If you're not with us, what's the point? We don't want to leave you behind. Besides, I think we have a lot more fun here than at some project."

Makoto was surprised to hear the two boys saying they would never leave without him. Before he knew it, Makoto cried uncontrollably. While Yukihina tried to calm him down, Yuuki quickly turned on Nyanmaru's show in order to cheer up Makoto since it was his favorite show. While seeing this, Makoto looked at Yuuki and Yukihina.

"You guys.....are the best!!!!"

~The Next day~
Yuuki, Makoto, and Yukihina were all seen walking back to the orphanage. It was their turn to get a few supplies from a nearby town. While they were walking, Makoto spoke to the group.

"Hey, we're close, right?"

"What brought this up, Makoto?"

"Yuuki....I was just thinking. When I think about getting adopted, i'd be happy to have a family but....i'll be lonely without you guys. One day, we'll all be separated."

The boys couldn't say anything. While they enjoyed being together, they all knew they wouldn't be together forever. While Makoto and Yukihina were contemplating this, Yuuki just walked forward.

"Well then, that just gives us more reason to keep enjoying our time together. If we can't stay together forever, lets enjoy our time together as much as possible."

"Yuuki....you're right!!!!"

"I guess hell officially froze over if Yuuki can say something wise."

"What's that suppose to mean, Yukihina?!"

Soon the three boys shared a laugh as they were heading back to the orphanage. While they were walking, Yuuki heard something in his ears. The sound of a heart racing. However, it was what he heard next that sent a chill down his spine.

"I want to live."

Before Yuuki realized it, he saw Yukihina and Makoto have stopped walking. As Yuuki ran to catch up to them, his own eyes widen with great horror. Right in front of them, the orphanage they grew up in was now nothing but rubble that was being consumed by flames.

"W-what happened while we were gone?"

"This can't be happening! Miss Lily, everyone...are they all dead?"

"NO! There are still people under those ruins!!!!!! This is terrible. I'll help blow away all the rubble and save everyone!!!"

"You can't Yuuki! It's too late!"

"No it's not, Yukihina! I can still use my Speed of Sound to help every-"

Makoto looked at Yuuki in worry after what happened. Before Yuuki could run off, Yukihina grabbed Yuuki by the shoulder and punched his face. As Yuuki landed on the ground, Yukihina looked at him.

"Cut it out! You're being reckless again! Don't be so full of yourself just because you have the power. You want to get yourself killed?!"

"Even so, I refuse to sit and do nothing!!!!"

As Yuuki said this, he ran towards the orphanage. While he was running, Yukihina and Makoto were chashing after him. Yuuki looked forward as the voice he heard earlier grew louder.

"I can hear the sound of a heart that's about to fade away. It's saying "I want to live" over and over. I'll definitely save that person no matter what."

When Yuuki made it to the destroyed orphanage, he began to move some rubble away. As he did, his eyes widen as he saw a hand underneath the rubble. His horror continued to grow as he saw who the hand belonged to. Her body pierced by hot metal as some of her skin had burn marks while blood escaped from her head.

"Yuuki........that's right. You, Yukihina, and Makoto all went out for your chores. Thank goodness. At least you three.....are safe......"

"M-Miss Lily...."

Right before his eyes, Yuuki saw Lily's damaged body. When he listened to her, he noticed that her heart was beating slower and slower. As Lily looked at Yuuki, a small smile formed on her face.

"Yuuki....listen to me. You, Yukihina, and Makoto. You three are such good boys. You three deserve the chance to be happy. The chance to live a life you all want to live. Please, listen to your own heart."

"Miss Lily, stop speaking! Save your strength!!! We'll find help for you!!!!!!!"

"Its too late for me....but not you three. Stay safe. Though we may not be related by blood....you three and everyone else in the orphanage......are my precious children."

The heartbeat that Yuuki heard was no more. Right before him, the caretaker known as Lily was dead. As his eyes were wide with shock, tears fell from them as he was tuning out all other noises besides his tears. However, while this happened, some rubble behind him began to crumble. The moment the rubble broke apart, Yuuki turned around only to be met with blood on his face.

"........Thank goodness....you're okay...."

"M....MAKOTO!!!!!!!"

As Yuuki looked in front of him, he couldn't help but scream. In order to protect Yuuki from the rubble, Makoto jumped in front of him as some metal from the rubble pierced his chest. As Yuuki ran over to him, Yukihina arrived at the scene.

"Yuuki!!! There you are. Quick we need to....."

"Yukihina....it's my fault. It's all my fault. Makoto....he........he......"

As Yukihina looked at Yuuki, he couldn't find any words to speak. Blood was staining the ground as he saw two bodies near Yuuki. One of them was the late caretaker, Lily. The other body, the one that was shielding Yuuki, was Makoto.

"No.....this is just a bad dream, right? Makoto isn't dead, right Yuuki?!"

"I'm sorry.....i'm sorry....it's my fault! It's all my fault!!!!!"

"You know, there's still a chance to save him. However, it carries some risks and like everything else in the world, it is not for free."

Yuuki recognized this voice. As he looked to the side, he saw the man that Lily spoke to the other. As the man looked at Makoto, he saw the boy was still breathing. Soon he smiled as he looked towards Yuuki and Yukihina.

"There's a chance to save your friend. The facility i'm currently residing in can treat him and keep him in a stable condition. After that, we'll take him to the best hospital to receive proper treatment. However, they won't let just anyone come in, so you'll have to do me a little favor in order to guarantee that you all can enter without trouble."

"Anything......anything. We don't care what it is....JUST HELP US SAVE MAKOTO!!!!"

The man looked at Yuuki and Yukihina's eyes. They were determined to save Makoto no matter the cost. As the man smiled, he stood up and began to walk away as Yuuki and Yukihina followed him as they carried Makoto with them.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Hitomi. There is one way to enter the building successfully and get your friend the necessary treatment he needs. Yuuki and Yukihina....you must produce results with your strength. You two must produce results in the Eden Project in order to stay in the facility. Both for your friend's well being.....and your own. Now then, the Eden Project awaits us."
