CHAPTER 30

Hey guys!! I just want to say that I have massive writers block so I'm sorry if this chapter isn't great.

WARING!: I know NOTHING about medical doctor stuff, my proof, I referred to it as medical doctor stuff. So if i am not accurate, my appologies. May or may not contain fowl language! Depends on if I feel like it. 😐

( 3rd person p.o.v)

Two whole months had gone by, Double D has shown no signs of waking up. Sadly, he didn't show any signs of getting better either. During this time the teens heart has failed once, but they managed to save him and get his heart started once again. The doctors were confused on how only one bump of the head on a locker door could cause such damage. But after many tests and treatments they have figured out what has caused him to be in this state. Eddward had received many blows to the head over the course of time. This was the result of him being beaten by something or someone repeatedly. He has experienced many concussions and head injuries. But this last hit had done it. The doctors told them that they would monitor him closely, but there is no guarantee that he would turn out ok. Eddy, Lori, and Arden ( who was mostly just "there") tried to contact his parents so that they can come and visit it him in the hospital. But no such luck. Every time they tried they got voice mail, they were starting to give up on trying. This frustrated the three to no end, they understood that it was hard to take time off work, especially since they travel a lot. But this was their son their talking about! Their only son to be exact! They just couldn't comprehend the reason why. They visit him at the hospital every single day after school. It has been really tough on them, especially Eddy. Lori because she had no one else at school, she was bascially all alone, and she spent the majority of her time worrying about Edd and crying herself to sleep at night. It's been tough for Arden because, she hates seeing her love this upset, and all of her attempts to cheer her up failed miserably. She wanted to be supportive, but she couldn't feel true sympathy, for she hardly knows who the hell Edd is. I mean, she saw him once, and the dude was out cold! Plus, it was tough for her because she wasn't used to all of these mushy, lovey and sympathetic emotions. Her father had raised her to be tough as nails! She wants to be sad too, but can't. And for Eddy. He was a wreck, he couldn't sleep, eat, focus, nothing! He needed to shave. He looked like he gave up on life because he did. He felt a whole bunch of negative emotions all at once and it was over whelming! The guilt was just, eating him alive! He couldn't even have a break at home because things with his dad were getting worse! And his brother was in jail! And his mom who is the only semi-compassionate person in his family, was out of town. Life was doing him no justice! It felt like the world had turned on him. And Ed, as you know, was oblivious to it all. He was stuck all the way up on cloud nine. He had his boyfriend and his pet chicken, and all the buttered toast he could eat. And also! Kevin was being a major jerk. He was constantly pestering and tormenting him, driving him insane! He was this close 👌 to throwing himself in front of a bus. Just THIS close! But Edd wasn't dead yet, so he still had a glimmer of hope left in him.

A lot of other events had happened during the past couple months, like...

Kevin started going out with Amberlee, well.. That's what she told everyone. According to Kevin that wasn't the case, he looked like he would do just about anything, and I mean ANYTHING to get away from her!

Nazz and Benny were voted the schools cutest couple, which angered Kevin to no end. He was still not quite over her yet.

The lunch lady was fired for causing 13 students, {one of them being Ed, who was nurtured back to health by his loving boyfriend,} to go home with food poisoning from her sloppy joes, cheeseburgers and other various meats.

And lastly, a group students were going on strike! The strike being lead by non other than Johnny and his piece of wood, plank.

The strike had caused a lot of problems, and continues to do so, but it will not come to an end until principal Jones meets their demands.
Which he will not.

Currently Eddy, and Lori were sitting in their separate classes listening to their teachers boring lectures.

Exams were coming up in another month or so, so their units were coming to an end, they were going over material and making notes. This was the end of the first semester or their 3rd year in high school. Eddy wasn't paying attention, though he couldn't afford to fail this exam. Lori was getting mostly A's, but she still didn't want to flunk the exam, her parents were strict!

The school day was almost over, so soon they would be let out of this prison like facility.

( mean while )

The figure dressed in a dark cloak made his way down the dimly lit ally. He made a turn around the corner to reveal young man with a cigar hanging out of I his mouth leaned up against a rusty old dumpster.

" hey, it's 'bout time ya showed your face 'round here. .. How's it been?"

He charged up to the man swiftly grabbing him up by the collar. Knocking the cigar right out of his mouth.

" Hey! Easy! What's up your ass?" He said with a chuckle.

"You think this is a fucking game?!" He said pulling him closer, tightening his grip around his jacket collar.

"Now, why would I think that?"

"Don't play dumb! I know you've been avoiding me! "

"Jeez, calm your tits! You sound like your into me or somethin' " with a sly chuckle.

The figure slapped him hard across the face.

" DON'T YOU FUCKING HIT ME! IT COULD FUCK YOU UP IN A HEART BEAT YOU WEAK ASS-"

He hit him once again.

" ENOUGH! You had one job! One FUCKING JOB! And you managed to screw it all up!"

" hey hey hey! It's not my fault that little twerp had to come in and-"

" - AND DONT YOU CALL HIM A TWERP, EITHER!"

"Jeez, what's it to ya any way? You sound like you have a thing for the guy, eh?" He said starting to cracking up, rubbing his left cheek with newly formed bruise on it.

" SH-SHUT UP!" The red haired boy said with a faint blush. " I payed you to get rid of shrimpy! Not to land my.. Uh..the dork, in the hospital! And what now?! You let him go scotch free and..."

" Look, ' ight, me and my boys kicked his ASS.." He said emphasizing his words "we were this close man, this close" he said making gestures with his hand. "and the dweeb just had to come in and f*ck things up!"

" STOP BLAMING DORKO FOR YOUR F*CKING PROBLEMS! You guys screwed up and no one else! Now you pay me back every cent, or you finish the job!"

" FINE" he yelled while reaching in his pocket and pulling out a hand full of cash.

" here's your stink'n money." He said whiles plopping the dough into the red head hand, leaving him dumbfounded.

" I'm done doing dirty work."

And with that, Jake left. Leaving Kevin to stand there and watch him leave.

" fine." He spoke to himself " I guess the only way to get the job done is by doing it by myself." He said whiles cracking his neck, and with that he made his way.

~ mean while with Eddy ~

He was making his way to the hospital, he was going to visit Edd like he has been doing for the past two months.
Part of him was a bit nervous about going to see the younger teen. The doctor had brought to his attention a couple weeks ago that Edd was not getting any better. It's seamed as though he was actually getting worse. His heart was very weak, and was beating much slower than it should be. As soon as they got the news, he instantly felt dead inside and Lori fell into dispair. Lori was coming to visit Edd too, but something had came up and she was forced to come later. He did not mind though, it meant the he would have some time alone with his friend. He walked into the hospital room and made his way towards his friend.

He looked at him.

He had a deathly pale completion, and Eddy thought that he was pale before.

The cuts on his forehead were all healed.

The bandaging was removed from his head, revealing that his hair had grown longer. His dark locks rested on his shoulders. Eddy frowned, his hair was not as shiny as it used to be.

Eddy gently brushed the ravenettes bangs behind his ear, fully revealing his face.

Such beauty, he thought.

He then took a seat down next to him and pulled the seat closer to the bed.

He slowly caressed his creek, letting his tears fall.

" Hey Sockhead, I don't know if you can really hear me or not. It's kind of awkward talking to someone who can't even answer back. But it's kind of comforting too, I don't have to, ya know, worry about ya judging me on my personal problems." He let out a shaky breath and continued. " I uh, a lot have things happened, haha, uh Johnny's leading a 'revelution' apparently, haha. They call them selves the S.A.M.E or something like that. [students against monocratic educators]. I have no idea how you would react to that if you weren't laying h-here in a hospital b-bed. " he said starting to choke up.

" I'm s-so sorry Edd" he said through his sobs. " it's a-all my fault that your in here. The doc said that you may not w-wake up! I-if I h-had done a b-better job at protecting you!"

He had completely broke down.

He started bawling into Double D's chest.

All of a sudden, the heart monitor started beep faster and faster.

His head shot up and he emediately started to panic.

" No! Edd! Y-you can't!"

The beeping started getting more rapid.

He closed his eyes and kept bawling his eyes out.

" Edd, please, d-don't leave me. I don't know if I can make it with out you h-here next to me!"
"I-I love y-you" he said whiles burying his face in Edds chest.

" I love you too." Said a faint but audible voice.

Eddy's eyes widened and his head shot up once again.

There Edd was awake, his eye lids were opened partially, with his head bearily off of the pillow from being too weak.

" EDD!! You're awake!!" Eddy said while throwing his arms around him, holding him in a tight embrace.

Edd giggled and hugged him back.

The older teen buried his face in his hospitalized friends shoulder, when he remembered about what had just happened causing him to pull away.

" uh, Edd"

" yes Eddy?"

" um, d-did you really, uh, mean what you said? About..." He stuttered whiles awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

Edd leaned up and locked lips with the babbling teen, silencing him.

" yes " he said with a faint blush.

" sooo"

" sooo"

" Double D?"

" Yes Eddy? What is the matter?" He said sweetly with a gentle expression on his fatigued face.

" when your out of this hospital, would like to go out with me?"

Edds face lit up with joy!

" of course I will!!"

Eddy's heart filled with joy, this is all he's ever wanted for so many years. He spent so many nights pining for Edd, and now, he's finally his. From this moment forward he promised himself that he will never let harm come his way, and that he would never let him go no matter what. He's wanted him for so long, and he wasn't about to let anything ruin that.

The two embraced each other, like if they let go, the other would get taken away, never to be seen again. Small kisses were shared.

Edd lifted his head up, a little bit off Eddy's shoulder and asked.

" Eddy, does this mean that we are together now?" He said with hope in his voice.

" only if you want us to be~" he spoke with his face buried in Edds soft hair.

He smiled " ..I want us to be"

Eddy grinned to him self and kissed Edd softly, but passionately whiles holding him gently in his arms. Keeping in mind that he was still very weak.

" I .. Love you.." They both said in between kisses.

Both of them had wanted this for a while now.

They both cared for eachother deeply, they promised that they wouldn't let anything get in the way of there love. Not fear, not doubt, and especially not other people.

~mean while at Lori's house ~

Lori was rushing to get things ready, she wanted to be able to go to the hospital to visit her friend, and be back home to finish her homework, her chores, and most of all, before her parents come home. She would be in serious trouble if they came home and she WASN'T there.

She felt a hand on her back.

" babe, ya sure you wanna go?" Arden said with a concerned look on her face.

" of course! He's my friend! Why wouldn't I want to go!?"

" I don't know, it's just.. You've been so upset lately. And you know what the doctor said. There not sure if he's even gonna..." She looked over at her girlfriend who had a hurt expression on her face.

" ... Ya know.... And I don't know if your gonna be able to take well if he doesn't ..."

" if he doesn't what?!" She said with an angry and teary voice.

" ...never mind, let's just go." She said while making her way out of her room.

Lori looked at her, she didn't want to think about all of the possible negative out comes.

Arden started the car engine and waited for her partner to come out of her house.

She tapped the steering wheel out of frustration.

She knew that her girlfriend has been really upset lately, and so far, she hasn't been able to take any of the doctors news well, at all! And every time they visited her friend, it just got worse! Naturally, she didn't want to see her girlfriend get hurt, if they went to visit today and the doctors gave her more bad news. The last couple of times they visited, the doctors already told them that it looked like Eddward wasn't getting any better. And he's already flatlined once. Arden being the pessimist she is, was pretty much incapable of thinking positively, especially after all that's happened.

Lori opened the car door a hopped in.

She had put on her flats, tight baby blue khakis, a ruffled floral top and a light sweater and her long, wavy brown hair tied up into a ponytail.

" you look great in that outfit." She said to her.

Lori didn't respond and kept looking out the window.

She was thinking back to what Arden had said back in the house. She didn't want to believe that what her girlfriend said was true. In fact, she refused to believe that what she said was true.

Arden frowned and started to drive towards the hospital.

~At the hospital ~

They pulled into the hospital and parked the car.

After they were in the hospital they asked the lady at the desk if they were able to see Eddward Vincent. After the kind middle aged lady said that they could go visit him they made their way upstairs.

Arden noticed that Lori hadn't talked to her the whole trip.

" Lors...?"

She didn't respond.

" ... Is something wrong?" She asked again.

Lorianne still didn't respond. It's been like this for the past couple months. She understands that she's upset, and that's expected. But she's been ignoring her too, and it's really starting to anger her. Just because she is grieving for her friend, that doesn't give her the right to give her own girlfriend the cold shoulder. Especially after she had tried her best to help. She loves Lorianne, but she doesn't love being treated like crap.

They had reached the Edd's hospital room.

They stopped in front of the door. Arden looked at Lori, she hadent even made eye contact with her. This really hurt her, she never really felt this way before. No one had ever been able to make her feel that way. She let out a deep sigh and opened the door for Lori.

When they both entered the room they were instantly shocked!

There Edd was awake! And ... Making out with Eddy?!

Lori face was flushed as she stared in disbelief unable to look away.

And Arden pulled out her cell phone snapped a couple pictures.

After this went on for a while, Edd and Eddy kissing and Lori staring at them looking like she was on the verge of having a nose bleed.

Arden cleared her throat. The new couple pulled away from each other and looked at the two girls flustered.

" E-Edd! You're awake!!" Lori said.

She ran over to him and gave him hugs making Arden feel a mixture of happiness, relief, and jealousy.

Eddy gave a quick wave to Arden, and she returned the gesture.

Edd and Lori pulled away from eachother, Lori's face was soaked from her tears of pure joy and relief that her friend was awake and going to be ok.

" so Lori, care to introduce me to your companion here?"

" oh yeah, this is Arden" she said.

" the girlfriend." Arden said whiles making jazz hands.

" oh! It's nice to finally meet you." He said kindly.

" you too buddy, so, how are you feeling?"

" oh, I'm feeling ok, a little bit sore, but ok."

" oh, I'd say your feeling more than ok." She said smirking while arching an eye brow.

Edd was confused by this.

" judging by the whole make out session we saw there. Nice show by the way, very, very, entertaining."

His face turned a deep red colour causing Eddy to let out a chuckle.

" y-yeah, care to explain?" Lori said like of confused, but mostly just curious.

" o-h, me and Eddy are dating now"

Hearing Edd say these words made a big smile spread across his face.

" W-What!? Really?!" She said sounding astonished.

" Yes!" Eddy said then planting a big fat kiss on his new lovers cheek, causing Edd to turn an even darker shade of red, if that was even possible.

" Aweee, I'm really happy for you guys!" Lori said, she new that Edd really liked Eddy, even if he didn't like to admit it.

" me too!" Arden said too, even though she bearily knew Eddy, he knew that he must really like Edd. She could tell by how depressed he acted whiles Edd was in the coma.

" hmm, welp! I guess I better give you guys some alone time, me and Lori better get going, right Lors?"

" w-what?!"

" ok we're go home now! Have fun! But not to much fun, if ya know what I mean, I'M TALKING TO YOU EDDY!! Hahah, ok bye!" She yelled whiles dragging Lori out of the room.

After they left, The two lovers looked at eachother and then smiled. Edd nuzzled into his shoulder, and Eddy peppering little kisses on his head.

~back at Lori's home ~

The two sat in complete silence.

Arden sat with her chin resting in the palm of her hand, and her elbow on her knee. Although her face looked expressionless, the look in her eye revealed that she was tired, and in a way, hurt.

Lori instantly felt horrible, she hadn't exactely been light on her. After all that's happened, Arden was just trying to help her get through, but she was stubborn. With the way she was carrying on. And Eddy, you can imagine how he must of felt. He was completely woebegone, but she was completely blind, and wasn't able to see it until Arden pointed it out. She felt totally blameworthy for the way she mistreated her friend, and even her own girlfriend.

She lightly tapped her girlfriend on the shoulder, Arden looked over her with the same blank expression she always wore.

" Umm, Arden I'm sorry..."

After hearing this her head perked up slightly.

" I've been nothing but a burden to you for the past 3 and a half months of our relationship."She took a deep breath."I-I know that y-you were only trying to help m-me, but I've been very stubborn, and s-selfish. I have only thought about myself, and my emotions, a-and I haven't taken into consideration other people's feelings. And I'm so, so very sorry." She said whiles starting to choke up.

She brought her knees up to her chest and buried her face, removing her purple glasses and setting them on the table. She felt a hand on her shoulder, she looked up at her girlfriend with a concerned look on her face instead of the same old deadpan look.

" look, it's ok, I know you were really upset, didn't really appreciate the neglect, but it's ok." She said , the pulling back and sitting in the same position as before. " It's nothing I'm not used too" saying the last part quietly, but it still didn't go un noticed.

This felt kind of like a slap in the face, but she didn't know what to do about the situation.

Arden looked back at her, noticing her look of distress.

" look, it's ok, I forgive you, alright? Don't worry about it." She looked over at the clock. " look, I gotta go, uh, dad needs me tooooo....I dunno, chores? Ok, love you, bye." After that she got up and left. She didn't even give her a kiss on the cheek or a hug.

Now Lori felt horrible for a whole other reason.

Welp! That's all folks!

For now, anyways.

Ok I kind of feel like this story kind of sucks, and I also feel like it's going no where either. I've sort of started writing what ever, ya know? Tell me what you think in the comments.
