Chapter 2- Apologies

Logan set his beer down, looked at the guys and smirked "I'll see you guys tomorrow, I'm going to go catch up to her, someone owes me an apology."

He left the bar and headed into the casino looking for her. He walked toward the exit while scanning the slots on his way out, and stopped when he got outside. He looked left then right, saw her flagging down a cab and ran over to her.

"Not so fast lady..." he says, grabbing her arm before she could enter the car. He peeked his head inside the window of the cab and apologized to the driver.

"Dammit Logan, let go of me." she snapped, embarrassed when everyone started staring at them. "If you don't let go of me, I'll scream."

"Oh no you won't." he argued. "What you did was uncalled for."

Rick, Tim, and Sam walked outside, and laughed when they saw the two quarreling. "Should we go intervene?" Tim asked.

"Nah, let the two work it out." Sam smiled. "This will be interesting to watch..."

Logan started walking her down the sidewalk, with his arm wrapped tightly around her lower back. The guys started to follow, and stayed far enough behind to watch, listen, and to make sure they didn't get out of line.

Logan kept looking straight as they walked while Brooklyn insisted to let her go. "Not until you apologize."

"Apologize for what? I did nothing wrong." she laughed, surprised he wanted her to apologize. "You're a piece of work, you know that?"

"Apologize for talking to me like that, as well as for grabbing my junk, and I'll let you go."

"You're right about one thing."

"What's that?"

"It is junk, and you ain't got shit." She wrestled her way out of his arms, and ran off. He groaned loudly while flexing his arms and punching in the air.

The guys ran over to him, yelling his name "Dude, I have no clue what's going on between the two of you, but the concert is tomorrow, and Grant would have our asses if she doesn't show up." Rick said, placing his hand on Logan's shoulder.

"She'll be there."

The next day before the concert, Brooklyn and Logan refused to look at each other. During rehearsal, she played, and sang like she was supposed to, but during her duets with Logan, she looked the other way, completely ignoring him.

Grant saw the tension between them, and pulled the two to the side. "Is there something going on between the two of you that I should know about?"

"Nope." Logan snapped.

"I'm just here to do my job, but if you'd really like to know, I'll just throw in that he's an arrogant asshole." she retorted.

Logan laughed, then covered his mouth when Grant looked over at him. "You two better figure things out... you're set to hit the stage in less than an hour, and I expect you two to settle whatever differences you have before the show starts." He eyed Logan with his hands on his hips, then looked at Brooklyn "I mean it, you don't need the casino, or the people who paid for the show to have a hint there's a tiff between the band... especially a new group trying to be hired by others."

Brooklyn crossed her arms, and leaned against the wall when Grant walked away. Logan watched him leave, then turned around and inched closer to Brooklyn. He got in her face and pointed his finger at her "I swear, you ruin this gig for me and my band, you'll pay for it, I'll make damn sure of that."

She smirked, uncrossed her arms and placed her hands on the sides of his face, and stared him in the eyes "Oh honey, I wouldn't ruin this for you... I like your friends, and I wouldn't do that to them. You on the other hand, I possibly would do that to if it were just you, you're an egotistical jerk... but I'm here to do my job, and that's exactly what I'll be doing here tonight."

She walked away, and went into her dressing room to change. She brought her skimpiest outfit she owned, put that on, finished getting ready, and headed over to where the guys were.

Sam whistled as she neared them, and widened his eyes with a big grin "Damn chickee! You're looking mighty fine tonight!"

"What do you think? You don't think it's too much, do you?" she asked, sneaking a quick peek over at Logan.

"No, not at all!" Tim said in excitement, he looked at the time and waved his arm "Come on, let's get this show started."

Logan watched her walk towards the stage, and shook his head at what she was wearing, knowing she purposely wore that for him and waited a few seconds before following them out to the stage. He took a deep breath wanting to calm his nerves. His nerves were all over the place, between the excitement of their very first concert, and his beef with Brooklyn, he knew he needed to relax, and to enjoy what he was finally about to do.

He walked up onto the stage holding his guitar, looked at everyone and began playing. He wasn't about to let her bring him down, and did what he was there to do. Seeing the crowd get into the music, made it all more fun to him, even if it was his own music he wished to be playing.

It was getting towards the end of the concert, and his duet with Brooklyn was next. She walked over to him with her guitar, looked him in the eyes, winked, then smiled before she began singing Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand... is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy?

Logan smiled back, and sang his part when it was his turn Heaven, is in the palm of my hand and it's waiting here for you... what am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy?

The moment they began to sing, the crowd cheered, sang with them, and waved their lighters side to side. The two sang their song perfectly, acted like they liked each other, and all in all they gave a great performance.

Finishing off the night, they stood outside talking with people who came to the show, signed whatever was handed to them, and was happy to hear that they were wanting to be seen again.

Later, after everyone cleared out, they grabbed their belongings, and placed them into the vans. Logan happened to look to his side and saw Brooklyn standing by the rail watching the Bellagio Water Show. He walked over to her, stood next to her thinking he needed to say something, and watched the lights change as the water moved around.

He placed his hands on the rail, leaned back a little, and turned his head toward her "I just came over to tell you that you did good tonight, thank you." he said quietly, and sincerely.

"Thank you." she said nonchalantly. She wasn't sure if he meant it, or if he was trying to make small talk. She turned around, leaned her back against the rail, and crossed her arms while looking down to the ground "I think maybe we should start over..."

"Is this your way of apologizing?" he asked, smiling.

She stood up straight and stepped in front of him "No, but this is." she says, reaching her hand behind his head, and shocked him by pulling him in for a kiss.

He quit thinking back at when they first started out, and yelled out to the crowd, firing them up for their next song. "What does everyone want to hear?" he smiled, grabbed the mic and yelled "What was that? I can't hear you!"

"Thunder! Thunder! Thunder!" The crowd chanted over and over.

He laughed, looked back at the guys with sweat dripping from his forehead "You heard them!" he yelled, grinning.

They began playing the music, exciting the crowd. Logan turned back and started singing I was caught... in the middle of a railroad track... I looked round, and I knew there was no turning back...

It was getting late, and went over their scheduled ending of the concert, as they sang their grand finale. "Thank you, Minneapolis!" Logan yelled into the mic when they finished. They were looking forward to getting out of the heat, and into the air-conditioned tour bus, that they quickly excited the stage.

While waiting for their equipment to get loaded into the buses, they stood outside their tour bus, signed autographs, and took pictures with their fans. It was time to leave, they got on the bus and all let out Ah's and smiled when they felt the coolness inside the bus, and giving them shivers as the coolness hit their sweat.

They sat back and relaxed as the bus started moving, Tim got up and walked over to their liquor cabinet, grabbing a bottle of fireball. "After tonight, I must say that was one of our best performances, and calls for a celebration."

He sat down, poured everyone a shot, and handed them out "To a good hot, humid, sweaty night."

"I'm going to hit the shower; I'm just drenched with sweat." Logan says as he stood up. He had a lot on his mind and needed time to himself. He headed to the back of the bus, grabbed his boxer briefs and hit the shower.

"He seems a little off, did you notice that?" Brooklyn asked.

"I'm sure it's because of the heat, he was also pretty fired up on stage." Sam responded, while pouring them each another shot.

"Anyone up for a game of cards?" Tim asked. "Spades, hearts, asshole?" he laughed.

"Well, the asshole is in the shower." Brooklyn giggled.

"Six years later, and you both still feud." Tim said, shaking his head. "When will you two ever stop with the bickering?"

"Never." she smiled "We don't feud, just pick on each other is all... we kind of have that love, hate relationship, you know?"

Logan finished with his shower, and sat down on the bed, thinking. He grabbed a notebook, his acoustic guitar, and started writing down lyrics that he thought of while showering. He started thinking back to his first and last kiss he shared with Brooklyn six years ago, how he took her home that night, and made love to her.

After that night with her, it changed him, he thought he could have any woman he desired. After concerts, whenever a woman threw herself at him, he took her home, or to his bus, had his way with them, and left them wondering if he would ever contact them whenever he came back to town.

Throughout the years, he and Brooklyn always argued about his sleezy ways, and how she thought she would be his after she gave herself to him the night she apologized. The night he made love to her, it was him showing her he had it, knew how to use it, and that it wasn't junk like she claimed it to be. It was only to make a point, and has regretted doing that to her ever since.

Tonight, while on stage, he thought about everything, and was feeling guilty for what he did to her. He knew she was a good person, knew he needed to change being the ass he has been to her throughout the years, and decided to write a song about it. It would be his way of apologizing to her.

He stood up and shut the door, blocking them out and began playing his guitar, figuring out how he wanted the tune to go. He wanted it to be perfect, and wanted to sing it at their next concert.

"He's up to something back there." Rick said as he shuffled the cards. "He's got the door closed, and playing his guitar."

"I told you something was up." Brooklyn said sighing "We may not get along all that well, but I've figured him out through the years."

"You may be right... I saw him turn down a woman tonight while he signed an autograph for her, I just assumed it was because of the heat."

"I'm telling you; he was different tonight." she said as she stood up "Maybe I should talk to him?"

"Just let him be, I'm sure he'll come out when he's done, and pour himself a drink."

After an hour, they heard him quit playing his guitar, and noticed how quiet he became. "I'm going to find out what his deal is."

She walked to the back of the bus, opened the door and peeked her head inside. She saw the notebook with his drawings of music notes, his writings, and decided to see what he was writing about. "Can I come in?"

He closed the notebook, looked up at her, and waved her in. "What are you doing in here?" she asked, sitting down next to him. She reached for the notebook to see what he was doing, but was stopped. He pulled it out of her hands, and threw it across the room onto the other bed.

"Don't worry about it, I was just working on a song, something important."

"Well, can I see?"

"No, it's not done anyway."

"Let me see it, please?" she begged, sounding irritated.

"No... I said, don't worry about it. Once it's done, you'll see and hear it."

She turned away from him, rested her hands on her thighs, and started rubbing them up and down, thinking of what to say to him. "Can you at least tell me what's been on your mind tonight? We've all noticed that you're not yourself."

"I'm fine..." he insisted. When she gave him the look of not believing him, he picked up his guitar, set it on his lap and looked down at the guitar as he started playing Let It Be.

"If you're trying to be funny, it's not working." she said, once she recognized the tune he was playing.

"Who says I'm trying to be funny? I'm just playing a song."

"Out of all the songs you play, you choose that song... especially when I'm trying to figure out what your problem is." she laughed mockingly.

"Look... I'm just minding my own business. It's been a long day, and it didn't help that the night was wickedly hot. I'm just trying to relax, and enjoy myself before we get to the next stop. We've been on the road for two months now, been all over the country, and I just felt like being alone. Is there something wrong with that?"

She wasn't buying it, and grabbed the guitar away from him. "Hey, do you mind? I was playing that!" he snapped, reaching for the guitar.

Rick looked at the guys and chuckled "Well... it sounded like they were getting along up until a second ago." He quit shuffling and started dealing "They got along for what... ten minutes?" he chuckled.

"Maybe we should check on them, they're getting pretty loud now." Sam says, turning his head to the back of the bus.

"I don't get it, they've been at it for six years, you would think they'd be sick of fighting by now." Tim said as he drank his drink.

Sam laughed "They fight like a married couple... just think, remember when she walked in that room for tryouts, and the expression on his face? He's the one who insisted on hiring her..."

Sam decided to see what they were fighting about this time, and walked closer to the door, trying to listen in. He listened for a few seconds, had enough, and sat back down. "I think they just like to fight, they're fighting over a guitar, him writing music, and blah blah blah... sounds like a stupid fight to me."

Brooklyn placed the guitar back on his lap not so nicely, and gnarled at him "Here's your stupid guitar, you know... one of these days you're going to regret being an asshole."

She stood up, placed her hand on the door knob and was about to leave the room, until she heard him say I'm sorry. She turned around surprised "What did you say?"

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry for the last six years, for how I've treated you, and for however I've made you feel. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way, and if you have felt hurt by whatever I have said or done... I apologize for that as well."

She couldn't believe what she was hearing and sat back down next to him. "Do you really mean that?"

"I do... now go back out there, and let me be alone for a while. I'd like to finish what I started... please." he begged nicely, holding his hand out "Truce?"

"Truce." she smiled, shaking his hand. Without thinking, she leaned forward giving him a kiss, with their kiss turning long and passionate. He moved the guitar off his lap, laid her down on the bed, and laid a top of her.

"Logan..." she moaned into his mouth, and pulled back, tilting her head back when he started kissing her neck. He moved back up to her lips, kissing her passionately again, then suddenly stopped and rolled off her, laying on his back. "Sorry." he whispered.

"What are you sorry for? I started it."

"I never should have kissed you back... I don't think of you that way, and I don't need to be hurting you again. Especially after what I did to you years ago... I like you, but not in that way..."

"So, what you're saying is, that it's OK for you to sleep around with every girl from every county, city, state, etcetera... but when it comes to me..."

He covered her mouth, stopping her from talking and lowered his face to hers "I didn't say that was alright either, I just wanted you to know I don't want to use you for sex, you're too good of a person. I did that to you once before, and I'm not going to do that again."

Just when he got done talking, they both flew forward hard, banging their heads into the door, and wall, and began flipping around as the bus rolled violently.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter!🤞🤞
