Si vous aimez lire l'anglais 😆. Le sujet était juste de faire une suite. Flemme de recopier le texte qui en plus est en anglais, donc résumé de ma poche ! Nous sommes dans les années 20, dans un bar (speakeasy pour ceux qui ont étudié ça, bar illégal en gros) et d'un coup tout est silencieux. Jack est un gangster et Sally une flapper, on n'en sait pas plus, donc à nous d'inventer le background des personnages ainsi qu'une suite. Et donner un titre bien sûr.Voilà !

               A betrayal ?

     Sally looked at Jack. "He knows something is wrong" she thought. "Why did I accept to do that ?", she asked to herself. She knew that he was a gangster, but he was a very nice gangster. She agreed to do this only because the police promised her to not put her in jail. She was not a « nice girl » as Jack said. She was a very talented scammer who owed thousands of dollars. Her mission was to earn his trust and let the police caught his friends. But now, she didn't know what to do because Jack knew something was wrong.

     "Why everything is quiet now ?"

Sally startled in surprise. Jack looked at her with suspicion.

     "Are you ok ?" asked the gangster.

Sally looked for an excuse to justify her behavior.

     "Don't worry, it's just that... I noticed exactly the same thing. Then you asked me this question wh—..."

Suddenly, they heard a lot of noise on the side of the door, as if someone was trying to smash it. Jack reacted quickly.

     "The police ! Mikey, Pete, we have to go !" he said by unsheating his revolver.

But it was to late for his friends located just near the door. When it fell, policemen grabbed them. It was Sally's turn.

     "Quick ! The back door, follow me !"

She grabbed Jack's arm and guided him to the back door where they went outside. Jack was a precautious man, in the case police arrived, he always had one of his men in a car, ready to take him away. He decided to take Sally with him because he was grateful to her for saving him. So, they runned to his car. Once in the car, he ordered his friend to speed up. The latter obeyed and then asked questions to his boss.

    "And Pete and Mikey ?"
    "In prison."

The driver swore.

     "And who is this girl?"
     "She helped me to escape, and I wonder why" he said, turning to the young woman.

Sally played the role of the terrified girl.

     "B-because I did not want to go to jail ! I am wanted too!"
     "Really ? And why ?"
     "I'm a scammer.  Many people want to see me behind bars!  I'm sure with the contacts you have you can check what I'm saying."
     "We'll see. Nevertheless, you could have run away alone."
     "I know but... but I thought that two would have more chance to get out..."

There was a little silence until the driver dared to ask the question aloud.

     "And we can trust her, do you think ?"
"If she's right, she could be very helpful to us in our little business. In any case, now we can not let her go, otherwise she will tell everything to the police."
     "Ok boss."

Jack turned to the young woman.

     "It would be a shame to kill such a pretty woman" he said with a smile.

Sally swallowed.

       Months had passed since the bar's story. Jack had checked that Sally was right and she was now in a very high position in the gang. She made sure to sell the arms that the gang provided at exorbitant prices. At first, Sally kept a regular contact with the police, but the fewer days she spent doing it. Indeed, the situation had changed, she had fallen in love with Jack and he too had fallen in love with her. She was now in a dilemma, continuing to give information to the police so that Jack would end up in jail or tell Jack the truth so he would not go to jail, but he would reject her. She did not know what to do anymore. Finally, she decided to tell Jack the truth even if she had to lose him. But the problem is that she forgot that she had an important appointment with an agent. Not seeing her, the police imagined the worst and prepared an intervention to put her safe and also arrest the gang. Indeed, they knew where their hideout was thanks to Sally. But she was not aware when she came to see Jack in his office. He saw right away that she was not well.

"What's wrong sweetie?" he asked gently.
     "I'm sorry honey ! I am a spy for the police !"
     "How's that a spy" he said stunned.
     "I stopped now, but that night in the speakeasy everything was planned ! I had to earn your trust to lead you to show me all the tricks of the gang.  But after I fell in love with you, so I stopped giving them information. I beg you to forgive me!"

Jack was in shock. He was silent for endless seconds.

     "I trusted you..."

Sally was crying.

     "I-I know, I've played double game from the beginning, but I swear to you that my feelings for you are true, I never invented that."

Jack was going to speak again, but this was the moment that the police choose to invest the place. The couple heard the police screaming at the gang members to raise their arms in the air in the other room.

     "Why did not you tell me?" yelled Jack.
     "But I had no idea, I swear!  They did not tell me anything!"
     "Shit !"

Jack hurried to take the contents of the safe and remove the carpet from the room and then lift a hatch. He looked at Sally.

     "It may be the end of the gang, but it's the beginning of a new life. Even if you betrayed me, I can not live without you, Sally. For me nothing matters anymore as long as we are together. You follow me ?"  He asked, holding out his hand.

Sally was still crying, but this time it was tears of joy.

     "Till the end of the world Jack."

And they were already far away when the police managed to open the door.
