Chapter 38
Eclipsed 38: Zapdos
Firework's POV
"We're almost there!" I exclaimed happily.
Geo was walking with his head down. "Are you sure it was a good idea to bring a grass type to fight a flying type?"
"Don't worry." Blossom said. "From what Apollo told be, Articuno used ice attacks. If Zapdos sticks to his primary type too, you'll be better off than the rest of us."
Geo sighed. "I guess you're right."
"Look." I said.
They did. We were standing in front of the Power Plant.
"Aw, sweet!" Blossom said excitedly.
"What're we waiting for?!" I said as I charged in.
We got lost quickly in the maze-like structure of the building. I felt the air becoming more and more charged with electricity.
Blossom bumped into Geo. "Ow!" They both exclaimed.
"Are you two okay?"
"Yeah, we just shocked each other."
I smiled. Wonder how Plasma would've reacted to this place.
We heard a loud screech. Everyone exchanged glances and raced towards the sound.
On top of a power generator was the large yellow bird. The only sound was the cackling of electricity. A pair of beady eyes narrowed and glared at us.
"Zapdos," Blossom said shakily, "we know Crescent has contacted you. Will you accompany us to take on Nightmare?"
He glided off the generator and flapped his wings while landing. He peered down at her, and smiled a cruel grin.
"Never! I am the great and powerful Zapdos; how dare you enter my lair without permission?! Face the wrath of my electricity while I eat you all!"
Geo bowed, trembling. "Zapdos, sir, please! We have a very important task, and we're sorry we've angered and disrespected you this way. I beg you forgive all of us!"
Zapdos growled, but then began to laugh. "Gotcha! Ha, I can't believe you fell for that one! I told Crescent yes when she contacted me in the Dreamscape. Guess she couldn't get the message through to you. Oh, that was a good one!"
I looked at Blossom and Geo. We didn't know how to react.
The big yellow bird was still laughing. "Sorry. I should properly introduce myself. I'm Zapdos, the Electric Pokemon. The blockhead who discovered me wasn't very creative when it came to species names. Anyways, I see that you need help. Like I said, I'm already on board. Can we just leave already? This place in kind of a bore."
"Uh, sure." Geo replied.
We walked out, Zapdos hopping behind us.
After a few minutes of walking, a slight rumbling was becoming more prominent. We all looked around.
"Zapdos, what's that?" Blossom asked the bird.
"Ooh, crap!" Zapdos exclaimed regretfully. "I forgot. I'm the plant's main power source. I guess the entire place be becoming unstable."
"How did you forget that?" Geo asked, gritting his teeth.
Zapdos shrugged. "Hey, Magus!" He cried to a Magneton. "Can you and your family take over powering the generator for a few weeks?"
"Sure, dawg!"
"Thanks, homeslice."
Everyone exchanged looks. This is not what we expected Zapdos to be like.
We were almost at the exit when the building collapsed.
"I forgot about that. Sorry, bros."
"Is everyone okay?" Blossom asked irritably.
"I'm fine." I called out, trying to dig out of the debris.
"Me too." Geo called.
"Now what, Blossom?" I asked.
There was only silence.
"Now what, Blossom?!" I said louder.
"I don't know." She said feebly.
"Me neither." Zapdos added.
"What are we gonna do?!" Geo panicked. "We're gonna run out of air!"
"Something will happen." Zapdos said. "Trust me, kid, I'm immortal."
"We're not!" Blossom screamed.
"I can't even tell which way is up!"
"Spit. Whatever way it falls tells you where gravity pulls." I advised.
It was quiet.
"Oh, gross! It landed on my face!"
"You're welcome."
"Okay, I'm out."
"Me too." Blossom said.
I stared digging and looked at everyone else on top of the rubble. We were all covered in soot.
"Where's Zapdos?" I asked.
"Why should we care?" Blossom grumbled.
"Because we need his help!" Geo said.
"You won't get ANY help if you don't get me out of here! I'm a bird, I can't dig!"
We all looked at each other and began digging. After a while, the bird surfaced from the ash. He shook off and sighed.
"I'm here!" Apollo shouted.
"Hey, Apollo." Blossom said. "Turns out Zapdos is the most chill pokemon we've ever met."
Articuno hopped into sight. "I am the most chill pokemon you've ever met." She said while preparing an Ice Beam.
"Woah, woah. It's just a saying." Apollo said quickly.
The bird narrowed her eyes. "Fine." She glared at Zapdos. The tension could've snapped like a twig.
"Uh, let's get back to Viridian Forest." Geo said, trying to diffuse the situation.
"Good idea. I'll ride on Zapdos with Geo." Apollo said, climbing on the bird's back with the leafeon.
I climbed on top of Articuno with Blossom.
"Let's go."
