So the time I was waiting for had finally come. All day I had been waiting for this moment desperately. Logan and Roni were waiting for me in the car. I went running and got into the car. They were really friendly to me. Like weirdly friendly. Something felt wrong. But I just let it go.

"So how did Jason and you start talking?" asked Logan.

"I don't really know. He just came up to me one day and started talking," I said.

"Oh come on. Jason is not a kind of guy who would go behind girls. There are so many girls behind him already. Why would he go behind you?" blurted Roni.

"I know right. What's so special about you that attracted him?" asked Logan.

"Like seriously Logan? You believe her? I'm sure she did something to get his attention. Right, Shyra?" said Roni.

"No, I'm serious. I didn't even notice him before this. Trust me," I said, trying to convince them.

"What? You didn't notice him? Every girl in high school is crazy behind him and you say you didn't notice him. Do you think we will believe you? " said Roni.

"Blurt out the truth real quick. You cannot lie to us like this. After all, we are friends now. Right?" said Logan.

Did I hear it right? Did they just call me their friends? I had been dying for them to notice me the past year and now they are calling me their friend. Wow! Now that's what you call progress.

"Yeah. We surely are," I said smiling.

"There you go. We have reached," said Logan pointing out to the boutique.

It was the well known 'Jonathan Boutique'. The most expensive boutique in town. I was shaking. I just had a few dollars in my wallet. I didn't expect to go to a place like this ever in my life. But there, I was standing in front of the door wondering if I even deserve to keep my foot in there.

"Hey, you coming?" asked Roni, looking at me staring at the door.

"Oh, umm, yeah," I mumbled.

We entered the store and there were so many pretty dresses lined up on the racks. All the dresses I could only dream of.

"This one would look so pretty on you," said Roni, picking up a blush pink dress.

I took the dress in my hand and did nothing but looked at the price. It was for 300 dollars. I was shocked. I stood there like a statue with the dress in my hand. I could never imagine spending so much money just on a dress. I knew I couldn't afford it.

"What are you waiting for? Go try it on," said Logan pushing me towards the trial room. I had no option other than trying it on. I took off my t-shirt and looked at myself in the mirror. I could see nothing but a girl whom I had never seen before. I was looking different that day. I still wonder why.

I put the dress on and came out. Roni and Logan ran towards me.

"Oh my God! You look so pretty. He'll definitely fall in love with you," exclaimed Roni.

"You look like a princess. You must buy this," said Logan.

How would I buy this? I didn't have anything more than 50 dollars in my bag. I didn't know how to explain this to them. What would I say? That I didn't have money? They would never talk to me again.

"Actually I would definitely buy this, but I forgot my card at home today. So I'm worried that I cannot buy this right now," I lied. This was the worst thing I could ever do. I shouldn't have lied. I knew that this could get me into a lot of trouble but I couldn't help it. I decided to tell them that I would buy the dress the next day and wear some other dress at the party. But, it definitely didn't happen as planned.

"Oh don't worry. I'll pay for you. Return me the money later," said Roni. Roni was indeed from a very rich family. Her father owned a huge business in California. 300 dollars was nothing for her. I thought that maybe she would pay the money right now and forget about it the next day. After all 300 dollars was nothing for her.

"That's really nice of you, but," I said.

"So let's buy you this dress. Come on," she said moving towards the billing section. I was really excited to wear this dress. I never imagined of owning such a beautiful dress. Roni and Logan too selected their dresses and we left.

The whole day I just kept looking at the dress. I was waiting to wear it and go to the party. My excitement had no bounds. I was on cloud nine.
