Meanwhile...

Nicholas finds himself arriving at a port town, getting himself ready to take a ship to the other side of the ocean.

Lyra: "The ocean is such a wonderful place to gaze at!"

Nicholas thinks about the dying woman.

Nicholas: "(tearing up) My mother would love this view."

He steps into town.

Lyra: "Moon?"

Nicholas wipes away his tears.

Nicholas: "Just call me Nicholas."

Lyra: "If you say so..."

Nicholas pulls out a bag filled with Wyvern scales.

Nicholas: "This'll get a ticket no problem."

He heads for a nearby pawn shop.

Lyra: "(in head) What about his mother? Is it something he'd rather not talk about?"

He walks up to the counter and gives the man the bag.

Nicholas: "What're these worth?"

He examines the bag.

Owner: "This'll fetch around 2100 Prisms, will that suffice?"

Nicholas: "That's plenty."

He takes his earnings.

Nicholas: "Pleasure doing business with you."

Nicholas walks out.

Owner: "(in head_ How'd a kid like that get a hold of these scales? Most soldiers barely come back alive with two."

Twenty minutes later...

Nicholas has just purchased his ticket for the S.S. Hull and is heading to the ship so he can climb aboard.

Lyra: "How long will this trip be?"

Nicholas: "About a week. Trying to go for a faster ride would've screwed me in the long run."

Lyra: "I know that I shouldn't be saying this, but aren't you in a hurry?"

Nicholas: "Not at all. We'll get there on time."

Nicholas shows the sailors his ticket and climbs aboard.

Nicholas gazes out at the open sea.

Nicholas: "I'll make it."

He heads for the cabins as the ship begins to move.

A few days later...

Nicholas is unable to sleep, so he's looking out his window at the dead of night.

Nicholas: "(in head) There had to be something anyone could do! You didn't have to die like that!"

Nicholas is subconsciously beginning to cry.

Nicholas: "(crying) You didn't have to die."

The ship is beginning to sway to the left and right, despite there being no storm on the horizon.

Lyra: "(drowsy) Huh?"

Nicholas wipes away his tears and jumps up.

Nicholas: "What's happening to the ship?!"

A booming voice echoes throughout the halls.

Voice: "I know you're here Moon!"

Lyra recognizes the voice.

Lyra: "It's Corvus."

Nicholas slams his door open.

Nicholas: "A Constellation chased me out to the middle of the ocean!?"
