She was special, though she didn't know it. She was the child of the moon.

The dancing moonlight crept through the window, toying with the night and bringing shadows to life. Eventually it reached the bed of a young girl, dozing peacefully. The moonlight illuminated her face, and it seemed that in that moment, the night itself sighed. The sudden light stirred the girl awake. She sat up, pushing off her covers and heading towards the window. Something felt amiss. It was the moon. It seemed almost too bright...as if it were smiling at her. Entrancing her...
Eclipse slowly climbed out the window, dropping lightly on the dewy grass below. She tiptoed along the ground, slipping into the woods behind her house. The stars and moon shone brightly overhead, illuminating an invisible path. Eclipse felt a sense of familiarity, though she'd never been here before. And before she knew it, she was standing at the edge of a lake, the dark water rippling softly under the glow of the moon. Eclipse felt at peace watching it, and hardly noticed the weirdness of it all: the way the moon shone, too bright, the way the shadows whispered and the stars beckoned. In fact, thinking of over later, she realized that she should have noticed something was wrong at this point. But it was too late to turn back now. A beam of light came from directly overhead; a ray of pure moonlight. And it mixed and mingled with the shadows, black and white, and went straight into Eclipse. She gasped, but there wasn't any pain, merely a cool tingling spreading through her, filling her up like a full meal, making her more energized than she'd ever been in her life. And just as suddenly as it came, it ended, and Eclipse felt disappointed almost, but it was gone- the moon had disappeared behind a cloud, and the strange hfeelings from before went a way. Blinking away afterimages of the light, Eclipse reluctantly turned and headed home.
