Due to changes within the Ambassador Program, we were unable to host this in March as we originally intended. However, we hope you all enjoy this fantasy romance contest and wow us with your heart wrenching stories.

In this event, you'll be tasked with choosing a "love interest" and writing a fantasy romance short story with one of the featured prompts. In order to make the event inclusive to all backgrounds, we have made all the love interests gender neutral. Which character will you choose?

Each character leads to a new world filled with adventure. Choose a love interest and begin your journey to win their heart!

APIFantasy

The first door reveals what appears to be the Heavenly Realm. Mesmerized by the beauty of the world of the gods, you feel a strange sensation enticing you to tread further. Three choices present themselves to you, as you must win the heart of one to return home: a celestial nymph, a water dragon king, or a reclusive snow fairy. Where will your heart lead you? Note: although this prompt references Cambodian/Khmer and Vietnamese mythology, you are welcome to incorporate any Asian and Pacific Islander mythology elements into your story.

MythandLegend

Behind the second door is Ancient Egypt, when the gods, goddesses, and pharaohs roamed the earth. Who will you choose? The solitary pharaoh or an all-powerful Egyptian deity?

The-Fairytales

As the café door swung open for your blind date, your attire shimmered into ethereal fabrics, and the surroundings bathed in a soft, fairy tale glow. 'Oh, you're here,' a voice chimed with enchantment. Turning, you were captivated to find your date resembling the very essence of the villain from your favorite fairytale. And as the door closed behind you, you were trapped in your own story.

HalosAndHellfires

An angel and a demon, both weary of endless battles, start experiencing shared dreams. In these dreams, they live ordinary lives as humans, free from the burdens of their true identities. These dreams become their escape, forging a bond that transcends their celestial and infernal nature. As the line between dream and reality blurs, they must choose where their loyalties lie.

YAFantasy

You decide to have a fun evening at the annual one-week-long masquerade after slipping out of the mansion. What you didn't expect was to spend most of the evening with a masked individual who captivates you with their grace and humor. Even less expected is the revelation that this stranger is cursed to the masquerade and will fade away until the next year's event. Will you try to break their spell, and if so, will you succeed?

♡ The contest runs from November 1, 2024 until November 31, 2024. The contest ends on November 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST. Any entries received after this time will not be included in judging.

♡ Your entry must be in English, Spanish, Korean, or Thai.

♡ Your entries must be between 1500 and 5000 words.

♡ You may submit more than one entry, but only one of your entries has a chance of winning. Please publish your story as a separate book or in your existing short story collection. If your story is in a short story collection, please provide a direct chapter link to your entry.

♡ Stories that use the HalosAndHellfires prompt and is a standalone (not a sequel or can be read and understood without reading other books in the series), will be featured in the applicable reading list, have their story featured in HalosAndHellfires's anthology, and receive an interview request to be featured in their interview book.

♡ Stories that use the YAFantasy prompt and is a standalone (not a sequel or can be read and understood without reading other books in the series), will be featured in the applicable reading list, have their story featured in YAFantasy's anthology, and receive and interview request to be featured in their interview book.

Do I have to make a new book?

Stories must be newly written and read as a standalone one-shot. If your new story is part of an existing short story collection, it won't be featured on the reading lists of the participating profiles if chosen as a winning entry.

Does it have to be 5000 words?

The minimum word count is 1500 words, but you should avoid exceeding 5,000 words. Stories that exceed the word count will not be eligible for judging.

Can I do a co-written story with someone?

Yes, you can! However, if you choose to publish on both your profiles, be aware that we can only add one story to our respective reading lists, not both.

Can I enter more than one entry?

Yes, but only one entry can win.

Is Mature Content allowed?

Mature Content is allowed so long as it meets Wattpad's Content Guidelines. Stories that do not meet the guidelines won't be accepted.
