Raven
I stood up and braced myself. Now was the time to remind Derek and the community, Who is Raven? I looked at Valerie. "I am sorry you and your parents had to go through all this because of me..."
Valerie tried to interrupt me but I raised my hand. "But now I am taking control of everything."
Valerie also stood up. "What is in your mind?"
I was marching toward the door. "I will challenge the alpha."
Valerie stood in front of me. "Listen, this is the time when you should console me but you are completely out of your mind so I have to be sane here and stop you from doing anything reckless."
I grabbed her arms. "He has captured your parents. This is the time to show power and take back everything from him."
Valerie sighed. "No, this is the time to act smart. We have an edge that Derek's Beta is not up for obeying his orders anymore but of course he won't come in front due to his status in a pack but we can make this Derek's weakness."
Tim asked. "But how can we do this?"
Valerie poked her temple. "Seriously, what is in this head of you both?
Tim and I exchanged looks, then both looked at Valerie. "Derek's beta must not be the only one who got tired of following his nonsense brutality if we all go outside their territory and tell everyone the truth. We can back our accusation by my parents being in his captivity."
Tim stood up. "But how could we prove our accusation? We don't have Gavin's and Aria's twins."
I pointed at Tim. Derek's Beta must know something about the twins and this was the reason he let you go so that Midnight Pack and I could fight back and replace Derek."
Tim responded. "That means twins must be alive and how on earth do we find them?"
I smirked. "We don't need to do anything; Derek will tell us by himself."
Valerie tipped her head. "How?"
I sighed. "Leave this on me. I know him well. You both gather everyone. We are marching towards Blackthorn's territory. Its time to reclaim my alpha status back."
After almost an hour, Midnight and their trained soldiers arrived at the Blackthorn border. Valerie and Tim were leading the pack, and I was set up in the middle of Ellis and Krystal so no one could recognize me because if anybody saw me now, our game plan would fail. One of the Blackthorn soldiers stepped forward. "Stop right there, or else you will be responsible for the consequences."
Valerie said to a Blackthorn fighter in her high notch. "Whoever has command of the border for tonight, tell him we are here to talk."
We saw a group of other troops coming toward the border in five minutes. Valerie told them that their alpha had taken Midnight's alpha and Luna over a parlay, which was against the law. She also said that Blackthorn's alpha had broken the law, so she demanded that they give back their alpha and Luna and say apologies, or else the consequences would be worse.
The commanding soldier looked at Valerie with a casual tone. "Let me talk to our beta about it."
Tim and Valerie nodded. I was taken aback because my soldiers would have been very brutal if the midnight pack had shown up at my borders and wanted to talk to an alpha in my time. But now I see that being aggressive to lead the pack was a mistake. That's why no one bothered to think before going against me, and it's clear that Derek hadn't learned from the mistakes I made in my time. This is the reason no one is willing to defend their alpha's decision.
Within half an hour, the whole Blackthorn pack stood face-to-face with the Midnight pack. I saw Derek standing right in front of his pack, along with a sharp, pointy-faced guy who I guess was his son, or his beta. Valerie raised her voice. "You have broken the law of the entire shifter community."
Derek raised his brow. "Think before you make any accusation to an alpha of the Blackthorn pack."
Krystal walked over and stood with Valerie. "You captured our Alpha and Luna; we demand you to release them and apologize."
Derek laughed. "You demand Derek, the Alpha of the Blackthorn Pack, apologize for your petty pack's alpha and Luna's disappearance."
Tim pointed at the pointy-faced guy. "You were with us over parlay; you need to tell your pack and soldiers that your alpha broke the law and put the whole pack's existence at risk."
Yeah, now I get it. He is the beta of the pack and he started looking here or there as he was gathering courage to go against his alpha and inform everyone what he had done. Valerie requested him. "Please, Beta Alex, this is the time to make your wrong right."
Alex turned around to face everyone and raised his hand. "Yes, the midnight pack is saying the truth; our alpha broke the rule and now we are going to face the consequences of his reckless behavior." then he pointed in a direction. "Here are the Midnight Pack's Alpha and Luna." Samuel and Luna were in chains.
Murmurs started to ripple through the crowd. Whispers of disbelief began to circulate and pack members started to raise questions and raise their voices against their alpha. For me, it was déjà vu because the same thing happened to me almost twenty years ago when members of my pack started screaming against me.
I stepped forward, finally threw my hoodie back and revealed my face. Derek's eyes landed on me. He pointed at me and commanded his soldiers. "Kill him; he is the fugitive Raven who committed a crime and killed our Beta and Beta's family, years ago."
There was a pin-drop silence but no one came forward to attack or arrest me. I continued to walk over to him and stood face-to-face with Derek. "It was you who killed Gavin and Aria. It was you who were after my position and it was you who told me about them. How could you do this to your own alpha and beta? Also, how could you have been lying to your own pack members?"
Derek looked around and I saw in his eyes the loss of power balance. "Prove it."
I raised my brow. "Tell your pack why you have captured Sameul and Freya."
Derek shook his head. "I am the alpha; I don't owe anyone to explain my decisions."
Voices started to rise from the crowd. "We demand that you apologize, Midnight Pack, and step down as our Alpha."
Another voice. "We don't want to put our existence at risk due to your anger issues."
Another voice. "If you have not committed any crime, then prove yourself worthy of our alpha."
I knew that as soon as the entire crowd began to yell at him, Derek would give in and do something foolish; that would be the final straw. He punched me and the midnight pack ran to fight for me but I raised my hand and stopped them. I unzipped my hoodie and threw it on the ground. "I got my chance after years. This is my fight."
I punched him back and we had a fight. Derek learned quite a bit during this time, but he forgot I was the vicious one, and he collapsed to the ground with my final kick. We both were covered in blood and he spit.
Derek laughed, drenched in blood. "You know what? I should have killed Gavin and Air's twin girls, but my humanity came in my way, and I threw them in some bushes near the Midnight Pack's boundary."
He continued. "If I had known those twin girls could be used as evidence against me, I would have killed them along with their parents."
Sameul and Freya's whisper resonated with their surroundings. "What??"
