Chapter 2: Home

As I get home I notice that I beat my brothers home, because the door is locked. I roll my eyes as I realize they both must be in detention. I open the door and take off my tennis shoes. I open the fridge and grab some salsa and I grab some tortilla chips from the pantry. I don't know why, but it has been my favorite snack since I was 2. I grab two bowls and pour the salsa when my twin brothers stomp in, obviously in a bad mood. "What's wrong with you?" I ask Henry. "Detention" he grumbles and grabs a chip and dips it in the salsa. I push him a bowl. "You can double dip in here. I point to the bowl. Nate comes into the kitchen after he finishes cleaning the floor mess. Nate is a neat freak. He insists on organizing EVERYTHING because he thinks we can't do it to his 'style'. It's okay, but sometimes ANNOYING. On the other hand, Henry is messy. He sometimes wears a shirt 5 days in a row and doesn't care. It's disgusting. I'm in the middle. I don't like that Henry is dirty, yet I don't think the house doesn't need to be as clean as Nate wants it. I finish the salsa and wash the bowl out in the sink. I turn to see my brothers eating the chips and salsa like they are going extinct. I grab my backpack and go upstairs into my room. We have a three story house, and the basement doesn't count. I'm on the third floor, because Henry is allergic to Stella and Finster. I open the third floor door and Stella sprints downstairs. Oh no. I sneak down after her and close the door behind me. I grab her as she starts on the first floor. I carry her back upstairs and open my room. It's a little bit messy, but I like to sketch on my floor. A grab Stella and a book and plop on my couch. A while later, Finster comes walking sleepily into my room. He is lazy, but energetic, sometimes. He pads to my bed, jumps and curls up on it. My mom comes home from work as soon as Stella falls asleep. I can smell Nate cooking dinner. I put a bookmark in my book and lay Stella on my bed, next to Finster. I close my door slowly behind them and sprint downstairs. "Hi mom" I greet my mom as she puts her car keys on the hook. We have 3 cars, a boat and a camper. So we need a hook to organize the keys properly. "Hi Ana" she responds, hiding her exhaustion. I crane my neck like a giraffe to see what Nate is cooking. Mmm. Mac 'n Cheese. Nate makes the worlds best Mac 'n Cheese. "I'll get Henry for dinner" I tell Nate. "Tell him to wash his hands" Nate calls to me. "It would be a miracle if I get him to wash a finger" I shout back. I open Henry's room to see him on his bean bag, playing a video game with chips and soda surrounding him. Nate says he's lucky to not share an exact room with Henry. Their rooms meet at a bathroom and Henry's side has toothpaste, toothbrushes and floss all over the place. Nate's is always neat. No need to describe his. I drag Henry off his couch (almost literally) and pull him to the hall. "Your strong for how SMAALLL you are!" Henry teases and I lift my foot up to kick his face, but he cowardly covers his face and walks away. I'm the smaller ones in the family, so Henry likes to tease me about it. Nate could care less.

I finish dinner a go upstairs and get ready for bed. I pull on my light purple cat pajamas and hop into bed, switching off the lights quickly. I cuddle up next to Stella, and soon sleep overwhelms me and I fall asleep.
