#8 - Dream Weaver

(Continued in from last chapter)

-=- that night, another dream -=-

3rd Person POV

Rune walks along the sandy shore of a clear blue ocean beach, looking around for any traces of life.

He makes his way down the shore of the beach until he finds picnic rugs laid out on the ground, facing towards the ocean's beauty with fairy lights laid around the picnic rug.

Sitting on the rug was an all too familiar figure. Rune walked over and sat down on the rug beside the being.

"Nix.." he says softly.

Phoenix looks at him and grins widely. The two friends hug each other tightly. Upon pulling away from the hug, Rune looks at the view.

"It's breathtaking.." he says softly.

Phoenix smiles, almost sadly while looking at Rune. "It really is."

Phoenix looks away from his Rune before he notices, and turns his attention to the view.

"I miss you, Nix." Rune says softly. "I wish you could come back alive.. I've been giving your mum money, so she doesn't have to work as much."

Phoenix smiles, "my best friend is a good person." He thinks.

"Thank you, Ru." He says softly.

"She's been a bit of a mess without you there to help. Even your sister is finally getting off her lazy bum and helping." He continues.

Phoenix nods and wraps one arm around Rune's shoulders.

"You're a great friend, Ru. Thank you for looking after my mum while I can't.." Phoenix says gratefully.

"You would have done the same if our places were reversed." Rune says.

Phoenix nods and pulls him closer. Rune rests his head on his shoulder and the two greatest best friends enjoy each other's company and watch the calm water.

Time passes by and the two friends relax on the beach, watching the water. Suddenly, a dark shape appears in the water.

"Is that.. a dolphin?" Rune asks, sitting up straighter to get a better look.

"It seems like it?" Phoenix replies, confused.

The two friends look at each other and grin, before stripping down to their boxers and running into the water. They race out to the deep water where the dolphin is swimming calmly.

They swim beside the dolphin and it allows them to hold onto its dorsal fin. The two friends have a blast swimming with the dolphin and splashing each other.

The sea creature even joins in with the splashing, using its tail to flick water into their faces.

What feels like hours pass by and the dolphin swims away to join a pod that's passing by.

Rune and Phoenix swim back to sure and sits on the picnic rug and get the food out of the basket provided.

The basket is filled to the top with fruits, sandwiches, homemade lasagna, ham and cheese croissants, salads and drinks like, water, freshly squeezed juice and lemonade.

Both boys' stomachs growl for food, causing them to chuckle.

Soon enough, they both start filling their stomachs with the amazing food and washing down whatever gets stuck in their throats with the beverages provided.

After stuffing their stomachs until they feel like they can't move anymore, Rune and Phoenix lay down on the picnic rug and look up at the sky, watching for shooting stars, and enjoying the patterns the fireflies make.

The scenery around the two friends changes as they watch the sky.

They're suddenly in a whole new landscape. A valley covered in so many different coloured flowers lit by a full moon, as fireflies dance around in the darkness above their heads.

Rune stands up and holds out his hand to assist Phoenix.

Once standing, the two friends take in the view surrounding them with wide eyes, and awed smiles.

"Wow.. it's beautiful.." Rune sighs in awe.

"That, it sure is." Phoenix replies softly.

Suddenly, soft romantic music starts playing, and the ground changes to make dancing easier.

Rune and Phoenix look at each other before Rune bursts out laughing.

Phoenix chuckles nervously.

"Let's dance then." Rune smiles, and holds one of Phoenix's hands and puts one of his hands on Nix's shoulder.

Awkwardly, Phoenix holds Rune's hand too and holds his waist.

Slowly, the two friends start slow dancing in the middle of a flower covered field as fireflies create patterns in the sky and romance music plays nearby.

Rune struggles to keep a straight face.

Phoenix notices and tickles his side, causing Rune to lose it and burst out laughing.

"Don't tickle meeeee!!!" He shrieks and playfully smacks Phoenix.

The two friends laugh and then continue to dance.

The music changes and so does their dance style.

This continues on for some hours before the two friends decide they can't dance anymore and sit down on the grass and enjoy the views surrounding them.

Suddenly, the world changes, and the two friends are on a small boat.

(A/N: Might be slightly stolen from Moana, don't murder me.)

Rune shifts to look over the edge of the boat, only to see millions of fish and other sea animals, swimming around beneath the boat.

The bright full moon comes out from hiding behind a lonely cloud, causing all the sea creatures to instantly become illuminated as glowing multicoloured beauties.

Phoenix gasps in awe as a nearby whale starts to glow a purple and orange hue.

"Holy- wow.." Phoenix whispers.

Rune chuckles softly and looks at all the glowing multicoloured fish swimming beneath and around their small boat.

"They're beautiful." Rune whispers, as not to startle the sea life.

"They really are.." Phoenix whispers back.

The glowing sea creatures swim around their boat, bringing the ocean to life with their amazing colours and breathtaking existence.

Rune and Phoenix silently watched the ocean creatures swimming around them for what seems like hours.

Before too long, it was unfortunately, time for Rune to leave and wake up.

"I guess we have to say goodbye again soon.." Rune says softly, bowing his head sadly.

"Yeah.." Phoenix replies and wraps his arms around his greatest best friend.

"I hope we'll get to meet again like this." Rune replies, hugging Phoenix back tightly.

"Me too Ru, me too." Phoenix smiles, and gently places a kiss on the top of Rune's head.

The scene surrounding the two friends fades and soon they can no longer hear or see one another. Rune wakes up in his bed and a new flow of tears runs down his cheeks.

Phoenix wakes up in a hospital style room, connected to a cannula with a blood bag and some kind of clear substance both flowing into his body.

God steps forward and gently strokes his hair, "rest young one, the time is yet to come."

Phoenix fades back into unconsciousness as God plays with his hair soothingly.

Rune lays in bed for hours after being unable to cry anymore. He recounts everything that happened in his dream and replays it in his mind's eye.

"I miss you, Nix." Rune whispers into the lonely soundless atmosphere around himself.
