#18 - Unwanted Visitors

Phoenix's POV

There's a lot of fuss around the castle as the morning sun rises above the mountains. Curiously, I exit my room and start searching for one of the archangels.

Suddenly, someone stops in front of me, blocking my path. Frowning deeply, I look up.

"Gabriel?" I question.

"Come this way, Phoenix." He says, and leads me back in the opposite direction. Frowning more, I obey and follow him.

"Are they hiding something from me?" I think to myself.

"I wanted to do some tests, in the hopes that we can figure out more about you, is that okay?" Gabriel asks, walking into his study room.

"Yeah, of course. I want to find out as much as you do." I reply, sitting down on the chair on the opposite side of his desk.

"I'll try and make them as painless as possible, but I apologise in advance if you feel pain." Gabriel states, smiling calmly at me.

I just nod and watch as he walks around grabbing different things from shelves and draws throughout the room. Once finished, Gabriel walks back over with a bag of the things he grabbed.

"First thing, I have to draw your blood." He says before dragging a chair over beside mine and sitting down.

Gabriel grabs out a tie and wraps it around my bicep area, before taking a fresh needle and syringe out of their packets and putting them together.

"I apologise for the prick you feel.." Gabe says softly, sounding completely genuine, not that I would expect any less.

"It's fine. Go ahead." I reply, turning my head to look away.

Suddenly, I feel a sharp prick in the crook of my elbow but before long the needle is removed and a bandaid is placed over the hole left behind.

I look back to see Gabriel swirling my blood around in a collection tube before he puts it into a little shelf looking thing specially made for those sized tubes.

"Next, I need a hair sample." He announces.

Rolling my eyes, I pull out a couple of hairs and put them into the container Gabriel holds out.

"I also need a skin sample." He says.

"That sounds painful." I reply.

Gabriel chuckles before putting on fresh gloves, he then grabs a small knife looking thing, a scalpel maybe? As well as another tube container and then he puts a bandaid in his pocket.

"You pick where I get it from." Gabriel says.

I hold out my hand, "this work?"

Gabe nods, "of course."

He sits down and moves the chair closer before taking the protective cap off the knife thing, he then takes my hand in his own and holds it steady.

"You may want to look away." Gabe says.

"Nah, I'm good." I reply.

Gabriel chuckles softly before using the scalpel thing to cut into my hand, blood starts to well up but he quickly wipes it away before continuing to cut out a little square from my hand.

Once he finishes, he puts the tiny piece of my skin into the container before putting a bandaid on my hand.

"That should heal in the next couple of hours, since angels have quicker healing. If it doesn't, come find me." Gabriel instructs before putting the three little tubes into a little bag and then puts the little bag in his pocket.

"I'll go start running through the tests, I'll come find you if I need to do anymore." He dismisses.

"Okay, cya later." I reply before walking out of the room.

Sighing deeply, I close the door before walking out of the castle and towards a field covered in flowers and soft ankle high lush green grass. I walk through the field before letting my wings emerge from their hidden place in my back.

Sighing deeply again, I stretch my wings before taking off into the sky and flying around amongst the birds and insects. I start flying higher, and higher until I start feeling light headed.

I tuck my wings against my body before diving down through the air, folding out my wings at the last minute so I can soar back into the sky. Without any problems I fly around the field like it's my second nature.

Suddenly, I notice someone walking towards the field and quickly land in a nearby tree and tuck my wings behind my back casually, but I keep them out in the open just in case I need to make a quick exit.

I sit down on the greying tree limb and watch as the individual coloured in greys, gold and white walks further through the field, having obviously not noticed me. I tilt my head curiously before taking off from the tree as silently as possible and flying into another one that's closer to the person, following them as they quickly hurry through the bright green foliage.

I narrow my eyes slightly as I watch the person disappear behind a coverage of vines, vanishing from my line of sight. Echoes of animals scurrying away touch my ears as I snap my head behind me to look around carefully, searching for any signs of the unknown person.

Sighing deeply, I turn back around, intending to leave, only to come face-to-face with the stranger I had been following.

"What the hell, man?!" I shout, stumbling slightly in shock before catching my balance easily.

The light skinned, shadowy eyed, dyed grey/silver haired individual with features of both femininity and masculinity, raises an eyebrow questioningly.

Scowling, I cross my arms over my chest, ignoring the way my wings flutter.

"Why do you follow me, little angel creature?" The stranger asks, their voice much deeper and smoother than I thought it would be, like thunder in a distance.

I stumble over my words, unable to speak properly before clearing my throat and glaring.

"Excuse me! What the hell- I mean, what the shit are you doing in Heaven??" I snap, stepping closer but keeping a wary distance from the stranger.

"I asked you first, little angel." The stranger replies, their voice still that deep smooth sound, like thunder rumbling in the distance, with a unique accent underlying their words.

I quickly shake my head, trying to rid my mind of the feelings that voice stirs deep inside my soul.

"You're a stranger in God's haven, I'm one of his warrior angels, obviously I'm going to follow and find out whatever I can about you, now answer me, what the fuck are you doing here?" I snap, suddenly enraged at this sensual stranger's unwillingness to answer my question.

The being tilts their head, their flourished dark eyelashes blinking up at me innocently, as their lime coloured eyes seem to twinkle in amusement, stirring up more emotions within my soul, and lower.

"That is for me to know, and for you to perhaps find one day, sweet angel." The stranger replies, before a sudden pop sounds and smoke appears around the creature, causing him/her/I'm fucked if I know at this point, to dissolve into particles and disappear, just like that!

"What the hell- fuck! I meant fuck! What the fuck!" I shout, messing up slightly, forgetting the rules against using the h-word.

I quickly spread my wings before instantly flying straight back to Heaven's Castle, heading straight to God's room.

Upon arriving, I knock of the door firmly, before stepping back slightly and waiting for God to open the door.

Moments later, he opens the door and looks at me with unmasked surprise.

"Phoenix, what a lovely surprise. Is there something wrong? You look quite pale, young one." He asks, quickly changing from polite charm, to concerned daddy.

"Yeah.. uh, can I talk to you about something?" I ask, suddenly feeling like I shouldn't have even come, for some strange reason.

God smiles, nonetheless and steps out of the doorway, motioning for me to enter. Ducking my head down slightly, I swiftly shuffle into the room, fidgeting with the buttons on my pants.

"What did you want to talk about, Phoenix?" He questions gently, while gracefully sitting back down on his chair.

"I found someone, who I haven't met before, in the field that touches the Forest." I start, picking my words carefully and eyeing God closely.

"Oh?" Is all he replies.

Frowning slightly, I part my lips to continue, only for an alarm to sound.

Swiftly, God gets to his feet and grabs me, shoving me under his desk and he uses his own body to cover me.

"Wha-" my question is cut off as the glass from the windows shatter loudly, along with what sounds like every single other window in the whole building, the alarm continues to blare warningly, before its suddenly turned off and we're plunged into silence, the only noises heard being the pants coming from God and myself.

God looks at me grimly, "what did you want to tell me, child?" He asks.

"Uh..." I start dumbly.

"A stranger.. in the Forest area.. disappeared in some sort of smoke like stuff. It had light skin, shadowy eyes, but up close they're super bright green with dyed grey/silver hair with features of both femininity and masculinity." I explain.

God pales instantly and I furrow my brows in confusion.

"I'm guessing this isn't good news..?" I ask without really wanting an answer.

"You wound me, young warrior angel." That same deep smooth voice announces from the doorway, like distant thunder.

Instantly I'm out from under the desk, taking a protective stance in front of God, my wings flared and my magic crackling in my palms, creating static in the air and a cool breeze swirls through the busted windows, causing my hair to flutter like butterfly wings.

God steps around me slightly to look at the creature, his usually soft features changing into a look of grim recognition.

"Knox." God states, and the creature's mouth splits into an award winning smile, pearly whites gleaming when the sun hits them correctly.

Yikes, I need sunglasses.

To be continued...
