~CHAPTER TWO~
The house was quiet when they got back, as it always was and Kit hoped it always would be. Apollo got out of the car and pressed his hand onto the tablet on the gate. It flashed green and the heavy metal gates glided apart, granting the car passage down the slope.
Kit drove down the dimly lit tunnel until he reached the underground carpark, empty as usual except for the 1966 mustang they had found a year ago parked in the right hand corner. By some miracle it had still run and Kit had been adamant that they take it back, despite Apollo arguing that a convertible wasn't the best possible mode of transport in their situation.
Apollo opened the back door and picked up the unconscious stranger who was as pale as the mustang in his arms. Kit pressed the elevator button and they entered, working their way through the rest of the security measures they had put in place until the elevator doors opened above ground.
The grass was still a vibrant shade of green, surprising to everyone because it hadn't rained in weeks. They walked along the path they had dug out going through the middle of the 100 acres and towards the property. Kit's mother had won the lottery before and she had always hated the outside world. Her elaborate security had become a godsend when the Crawlers began wreaking havoc all across the world.
The huge mansion was in the centre of the property, allowing for a 360 degree view of everything for miles.
"Kit, I'm going to take her to the infirmary. Tell the others what happened."
Kit and Apollo walked through the barbed wire fencing and electric gates, parting ways when they entered the house.
Apollo kicked the door of the infirmary wide open, causing Dante to drop his novel.
"Jesus Christ." He chuckled, picking up his novel and marking the page he was at with a bookmark.
"Just me." Apollo sighed, "Oh, and her."
Dante looked up at the mention of a 'her' and Apollo watched his eyes go wide as he took the bloody girl in his arms in.
"Put-put her on here." He moved some equipment off of the hospital bed and Apollo sat her down.
"What, um, what happened Pollo?" Dante's eyes raked over the girl's torn up body and clothes.
"We hit her with the truck."
Dante only nodded, but Apollo saw his Adams apple bob up and down as he surveyed the girls injuries.
"She wasn't only run over." Dante sighed as he motioned towards the girl's shoulder.
Apollo moved the strands of matted hair to the other side and frowned as he saw the two rows of bite marks above her collar bone.
"What should we do?" Dante looked expectantly at Apollo.
Apollo inhaled sharply.
"We have to kill her."
