ECHO▪Part 8

'     I'm gonna burn my house down, into an ugly black;
I'm gonna run away now, and never look back...'

[Gumi 🍃]

They were running from fate, trying to avoid it.

But who cares? It's not as if fate has been kind to them, anyways. It won't hurt to be a little more rebellious.

Gumi sat silently on the side of her bed, staring with an empty gaze upon the brown flooring.

Her mind was clear--clearer then ever. Thoughts of Primadonna invaded her memories, and she couldn't help but smile.

"I'm the one who should be thanking you, you idiot Prima." She muttered softly with a smile.

She glanced up towards her wall clock, and was surprised to find that she had not had any sleep at all. It recently just turned five in the morning, and school. School was in three hours.

Yet, she didn't feel tired at all.

Gumi bit her lip, trying to stop herself from tearing up again. It has been five hours, since Primadonna left her. Already, she missed the older, mature girl.

'I won't let Prima's efforts go to waste.'

Gumi jumped into action, pulling out a new set of uniform from her bedroom closet. She packed her bags, preparing herself early for a new day--A change in routine.

'I'll burn away my strange past.'

Prima's screen and the image of her last word--picture, rather; burned brightly in her memory. The happy emoji, which was the last thing she saw from her.

'I'll make a name for myself, I'll make friends.'

Gumi took a deep breath and exhaled.

"I'm not weird. I may have a disorder, but I can function as well as a normal person does."

That's right, she just had to work harder then most people. She will believe in that thought and strive forward.

Gumi smiled as she adjusted her red tie. She glanced herself over briefly in the bathroom mirror, before running to grab her things.

She raced for the door and turned the knob, stopping briefly to look back at the apartment room she lived in.

"I'm off," she whispered, before swiftly moving outside. Never had she been so eager to leave home.

The metal door closed automatically closed behind her with a 'click', leaving the small dwelling engulfed in dark silence.

《 :-) 》

That emoji.
It was the one thing that Gumi would never, ever, forget.
