Chapter 25
Stiles's Pov
I'm nervous.
I'm pretty sure that's been established.
I'm actually going on a date with Luke and I'm not sure what to do to calm my nerves down to stop myself from making a fool out of myself for when he arrives.
"Son, stop bouncing your knee. You're making me nervous and I'm not the one going on a date" Dad sighed.
I sighed myself and stopped bouncing my knee.
My dad, Peter and Malia were the only ones present in the living room.
The others had left to do their own things.
Well, the guys had plans to hang out at the arcade while Kira had plans to go shopping with her mom.
Peter and Malia didn't have anything to do and they just decided to stay with us until Luke came to pick me up.
Right now we're sitting on the couch.
Dad was currently drinking a glass of water while Malia was showing Peter something on her phone.
Ever since she got herself a phone she's mostly been on YouTube and looking up whatever funny video she finds.
She says she needs entertainment in her life and finding videos on YouTube is the best way to go.
And she doesn't seem to mind sharing them with Peter and he doesn't seem to mind either.
He'd never admit this out loud, but he loves that him and Malia are bonding more and slowly easing into their father and daughter relationship.
Especially when they got off on a rocky start.
"Are you sure he's coming? It's been hours" Dad asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Dad, it's been two minutes" I deadpanned.
"Well it feels like it's been hours" Dad huffed.
I rolled my eyes while Peter and Malia watched in amusement as well as letting out laughs of amusement.
"Dad, come on. I'm pretty sure he's stuck in traffic or something. And even if he wasn't he would've called or texted me if he needs to reschedule things" I explained.
Dad simply huffed before taking another sip of his water.
I bit my lip and occasionally glanced at the clock, not knowing if I should wish for the time to go slower or faster.
I nearly jumped out of my own skin when a knock at the door was heard.
It's Luke...
He's here. He's finally here.
My eyes wandered over to the others to get a good look at their reaction.
Malia, almost immediately, had put her phone into her pocket and sat up straighter as a small smile appeared on her face.
Peter leaned his back against the couch and crossed his arms over his chest, anticipation washing over his face.
I keep on forgetting that he doesn't really know what Luke looks like.
Well, guess this is his chance to finally meet him in person.
Dad set his glass down on the table that was closest to him and stood up from the couch.
My eyes widened slightly and I quickly stood up too, wanting to get to the door before my old man did.
Unfortunately, dad had been quicker and had reached the door way before I could.
He opened the door and there was Luke, who had a confident smile plastered on his face.
Although, it wavered just a bit when he saw my dad.
Don't tell me he's actually scared of my dad...
"Luke, happy to see you finally made it. I was worried you were standing my son up" Dad smiled tightly at him.
My eyes widened at that and so did Luke's.
I resisted the urge to glare at Peter when I heard him snorting and quickly made my way over to Dad.
"Dad, come on" I sighed, gently hitting his arm.
Dad simply rolled his eyes before stepping aside, letting Luke enter the house.
Luke simply nodded at my dad before a smile appeared on his face once he was a few feet in front of me.
"Hey, love. I'm sorry I got here late, traffic sucks" he told me.
"Don't worry about it. Just as long as you're alright and you're here" I smiled.
He nodded at that before his eyebrows furrowed together when he saw Malia and Peter.
"Who are they?" he asked, pointing at them.
"Oh, right. Uh, Luke, I'd like for you to meet Malia. She's one of my best friends" I told him.
Malia grinned and got up from the couch and walked over to Luke, extending her hand out to him.
"Nice to meet you, blondie" she nodded.
Luke chuckled at that before nodding back at her, shaking her hand.
When they pulled their hands away Peter had gotten up and walked over to them. He stood by Malia's side and placed a hand on Luke's shoulder.
I watched Luke flinch slightly at that before raising an eyebrow at the man.
"Nice to meet you, kid. I'm Peter, Malia's father" he introduced himself, grinning.
Luke hummed at that and nodded at him.
"Nice to meet you, sir" Luke politely smiled.
"Oh please, sir makes me feel old. Feel free to call me Peter, kid" Peter told him, smiling.
Luke chuckled at that and nodded.
Malia and I shared a glance at that and we both smiled. Looks like those two are gonna get along just fine.
Dad cleared his throat which caused all of us to turn to look at him. He stepped forward, his hands stuffed into his pockets, as his eyes made contact with Luke's.
"So, Luke, do you mind me asking some questions about the date?" Dad asked with a knowing smile.
Oh for the love of god...
Peter and Malia snorted quietly as Peter removed his hand from Luke's shoulder and took a step back.
I glared at them before turning my attention over to Luke and my dad.
"Dad, come on" I sighed, trying to get him to reconsider.
I heard a chuckle and turned around to see Luke looking at me, a small smile plastered on his face.
"Stiles, love, it's fine. I don't mind answering a few questions" Luke smiled reassuringly at me.
"See, son. He gets it" Dad grinned smugly.
I glared at him before sighing as I hesitantly nodded my head, letting this conversation continue.
Dad nodded at me before he turned his attention back over to Luke, who didn't look nervous.
Maybe he was nervous on the inside and was just trying to hide it to prevent my dad seeing fear. I'm gonna assume he doesn't want to be seen as weak.
"So, are you going to be taking my son somewhere nice?" Dad asked.
"Of course. Stiles deserves to be taken somewhere nice, he deserves nice things" was Luke's immediately reply.
His eyes met mine when he spoke and he winked at me.
My cheeks turned red at that and I swear I heard Malia and Peter snort in amusement.
"That's good. I don't want you taking my son somewhere terrible. The dates his sorry excuse of his ex-boyfriend took him on were trash" Dad rolled his eyes.
"Dad!" I yelled at him.
"Agreed" Malia and Peter spoke in unison.
"Wh...guys!" I yelled at them.
Luke laughed at that and I resisted the urge to glare at him.
"What? Your dad has a point, the dates Derek took you on weren't the best" Malia shrugged.
"Agreed. They were horrible. I'm honestly surprised you two stayed together for so long" Peter nodded.
I huffed at them and crossed my arms over my chest.
I didn't say anything because the only thing that would come out were stutters.
Not to mention I refuse to admit that they're right.
"Besides where you're taking my son, do you promise to keep him safe? I don't want anything happening to him" Dad raised an eyebrow at him.
"I can assure you, Mr. Stilinski, that I'll keep Stiles safe. His safety is more important to me than anything, I'd never let anyone or anything hurt him" Luke sternly said.
My heart fluttered at that and a soft smile was plastered on my face.
It warms my heart to know that he'll always have my back and make sure nothing happens to me.
But, it also brought back a bitter memory of when Derek and I went on a date a month after we started dating.
"I'm not always going to protect you, Stiles. We might be boyfriends but you need to learn to protect yourself if we're ever in a dangerous situation. I'm not your babysitter and I sure as hell ain't going to look after you every five seconds because you're not strong enough to fight"
I clenched my jaw at that and shook my head, wanting to get that memory out of my head.
I can't believe how blind I was that I didn't notice that Derek was never a good boyfriend in the first place.
God, I hate myself for not being the one to break up with him.
I hate myself for thinking that he was just joking around and never meant any of that.
Malia and Peter were staring at me in concern. I'm gonna assume they noticed my change in behavior.
I gave them small soft smiles, reassuring them that I was alright, before turning my attention back onto my dad and Luke.
"Good. Now, one last question" Dad said.
"Sure" Luke nodded.
"Do you plan on having sex with him during this date?" Dad asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
I choked on my own spit while Peter and Malia burst out laughing.
Luke choked on his own spit too and his cheeks turned bright red, he looked downright surprised and a little embarrassed by that question.
"Dad!" I yelled.
"What? I need to know if he plans on getting into your pants tonight. If that's the case then you two are going to need to sit down for the talk" Dad defended.
My cheeks brightened at that and I felt embarrassment course through my own body.
Peter was downright bent over, laughing. Malia had fallen onto the couch as she clutched her side as she laughed harder.
And Luke, well, he looked ready to curl up in a ball and die.
I honestly don't blame him.
I glanced at my dad before stalking over to Luke. I slid my hand into his, gaining his attention, as my head snapped in dad's direction.
"We're going to leave now. Before you start asking more questions or give us the sex talk" I glared at him.
Dad simply looked unbothered and smiled "innocently" at me and crossed his arms over his chest.
I huffed and dragged Luke to the door so we could make our escape and get out of here.
"When will you be back, kiddo?" Dad asked.
"Ten, the latest eleven" I told him.
"Have fun!" Malia and Peter yelled.
"Not too much fun! I don't want you coming home with your clothes wrinkled or inside out!" Dad yelled.
I groaned while Malia and Peter's laughter increased.
"Dad, shut up!" I yelled.
"Love you too, son!" Dad yelled back.
I glared at him over my shoulder and slammed the door shut behind me.
I dragged Luke over to Olivia's car, given that he doesn't have his own, and let go of his hand when we reached the vehicle.
Silence took over us.
The silence was broken when I let out a long, and pained, sigh and ran a hand through my hair.
My eyes met Luke's and I was surprised when I saw that he was simply smiling at me, amusement shown in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry about that. I swear my dad has a habit of embarrassing me" I awkwardly chuckled.
Luke let out a soft chuckle and waved me off.
"Don't worry, love. I understand where he's coming from. Besides, he's just looking out for you" Luke smiled.
"I know. But did he have to ask if we'd have sex on our first date?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
"While I do admit that was amusing, it's like I said before he's simply looking out for you" Luke told me.
"How? He almost gave us the sex talk" I asked in confusion.
"I know that. But he just wants to make sure that everything goes well on this date. And if we were to have sex he would want to know simply because he wants to make sure we're careful rather than reckless" Luke explained.
Well, when he puts it like that I guess I do understand.
However, I felt my cheeks heating up at the mention of sex.
"Just so we're clear, we aren't really gonna have sex. Right?" I asked.
Luke's eyes widened at that and I saw him giving me a look of disbelief.
"Love, you know that I'd never force you to have sex with me. Especially if you're not ready. This date is about us but I mainly want it to be about you" Luke said.
He cupped my face with his hands and pressed his forehead onto mine.
"I want you to remember this date. I want you to have fun and be yourself. And remember, I'm not going to push you to do something you're not ready for. And, yes, that applies to sex. Believe me when I say that I respect your boundaries" Luke smiled softly at me.
My cheeks turned more red at that and my heart fluttered more.
How can someone be so damn sweet and respectful?
I allowed a small smile to appear on my face as I nodded and placed my hands on his shoulders.
"Thank you" were the only words I could utter out.
"No need to thank me, love. Now, come on. Let's get going" Luke smiled.
I smiled back at him and nodded.
I chuckled softly when he opened the door for me and bowed, I nodded my head at him before climbing inside the passenger seat.
I put my seatbelt on as Luke closed the door and made his way to the drivers seat and got in.
When he closed the door, locking them once we were inside, we made eye contact with each other and he smiled at me before starting the car.
I smiled back at him and relaxed in my seat, letting out a sigh of content.
Before I knew it my nerves had gone away. 100% they were gone.
I'm definitely ready for this date. I'm sure of it now.
