Chapter 18
Stiles's Pov
When it was time for lunch I was relieved.
My brain feels like it's going to explode because of all that classes I've had so far.
The same goes for my stomach. I was hungry like hell.
If I don't get some food in my system right now, I will literally growl at someone and probably attack them.
Oh, lets not forget I'm really excited to hang out with the others like always.
I only have a few classes with them so that's a bummer.
But at least we all have lunch together, so that's definitely something to be happy about.
After thanking the lunch lady I picked my tray up and immediately started searching for the others.
I passed by the table where the pack were sitting.
They were all eating and doing their own thing but I paid no attention to any of them. I only paid attention to the ones that I still considered my friends.
Malia, Kira, Isaac and Liam brightened when they saw me and smiled while waving.
I smiled back just as brightly and waved at them.
Theo looked up and a tiny smile appeared on his face as he nodded at me.
I repeated the gesture and continued walking.
Theo and I might not be friends but we are frenemies so that's definitely considered as something.
I ignored the glare I got from Scott and resisted the urge to show him my middle finger.
"Stiles!"
I looked up and saw Luke and the others sitting at a table near the back.
I'm assuming that's going to be their regular table because it's farther away from the others and nobody will bother them.
And that's a good table for me too.
"Over here, love!" Luke yelled.
I blushed bright red, scowling at the smirk that appeared on Luke's face.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head and walked over to the table.
Once I was close I took the empty seat that was next to Luke and sat down once I placed my tray onto the table.
"Hey guys" I greeted my newfound friends.
"Hey, Stiles" June smiled.
"Sup" Olivia and Jake nodded.
I raised an eyebrow when I saw Jake frantically writing in his notebook while glancing at his history textbook every few minutes.
I looked over at Olivia and raised an eyebrow at her as I nodded towards Jake.
Olivia looked over at him and sighed as her eyes locked back onto mine.
"We've got a test after lunch and this idiot didn't study" Olivia replied.
Oh. That makes sense.
"Hey, I found out last minute about the test" Jake defended.
"We were informed we would have a test a few days before, you just weren't paying attention" Olivia rolled her eyes.
"Yes I was" Jake defended himself, again.
"Sleeping during class doesn't count as paying attention" Olivia deadpanned.
June and I snorted while Luke let out a loud laugh as he shook his head in amusement.
Jake shot the three of us a glare before huffing as he went back to studying.
Olivia smirked and stuffed her pretzels into her mouth, wrapping her arm around June's waist.
"So, do you guys have plans after school?" I asked.
"I'm going job searching today. I want to make and save up money" Jake replied.
"And it's date night for Liv and I. She has something special planned for me" June smiled happily.
"I always have something special planned for you whenever we have date night, my sweet" Olivia smiled softly.
I swear it's really weird to see Olivia in such a soft and gentle state.
I'm used to her sassy, sarcastic and bitchy side.
However, let it be known that her soft and gentle side is reserved for June and June only.
"Oh, where are you guys going?" I asked in excitement.
"I don't know. Whenever we have a date Liv refuses to tell me anything because she wants it to be a surprise" June scoffed.
"Don't be mad, my sweet. It'll all be worth it when you see what I've set up" Olivia smiled.
"Good" June grinned.
Jake let out a loud groan as he shut his textbook, causing the couple to pull away from each other.
"Thank you for reminding the rest of us that we're single and crave to have what you two have" Jake sarcastically smiled.
"My pleasure. Reminding you three losers that you're single always brings me joy" Olivia smiled smugly.
Jake shot her a glare while June sighed and smacked her girlfriend on the arm.
Luke snorted while I frowned and looked down at my lunch, poking at my salad.
I'm single...
I keep on forgetting that I'm back to being single...
I keep on forgetting that my boyfriend of two years and I broke up...
I keep on forgetting that he's now in a relationship with his new girlfriend...
And I keep on forgetting that he never really loved me, that he only used me, that he was only with me out of pity...
I'm single and I'm broken...
A gasp escaped my lips when I felt a hand on my shoulder, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I looked up and saw Luke staring at me with furrowed eyebrows, clear concern shown in his eyes.
"Love, are you alright?" Luke softly asked.
"Huh...?" I asked, a little confused.
"I want to know if you're alright. I've been trying to get your attention but you were lost in your thoughts" Luke explained.
Oh.
"Uh, sorry, I was just thinking about something" I replied.
"Is everything alright?" Olivia asked, frowning slightly.
"Yeah, everything's fine, I'm fine. I was just thinking" I nodded.
I offered her my best convincing smile and looked back down at my food, going back to picking my salad.
I didn't want to admit to any of them about what I was thinking.
It's already embarrassing to be reminded of why Derek and I broke up. The last thing I want is to talk about it anymore.
Luke frowned at me and glanced at his sister, who was frowning as well.
Why does my heart flutter at seeing Luke's concerned state...?
"Stiles" Luke spoke up again.
I sighed softly and picked my head up, again, and looked over at him.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"I want to know if you're going to do anything after school today" Luke said.
"Oh, well, I'm just going to go home and do homework and watch some movies with my dad" I replied.
Now that I'm no longer part of the pack I don't have to worry about appearing to the pack meetings.
I don't have to worry about how long the meetings with last nor worry about finishing my homework last minute.
And I certainly don't have to worry about pulling an all nighter just to finish my homework so that my grades don't go down.
I can relax, finish my homework in peace and spend the rest of the hours watching movies with my dad.
"Well, is it alright if I come over?" Luke asked.
I furrowed my eyebrows at him in confusion.
"Huh?" I asked.
"Is it alright if I come over to your house? You know, so we can work on the homework together" Luke said.
My eyes widened slightly and I stared at him in slight shock.
"W-what?" I asked.
Luke cleared his throat as he shrugged his shoulders.
"I wanted to know if it's alright if I come over, I want us to work together on whatever homework we have. That way we can get the job done faster" Luke explained.
Uh...
I honestly don't know how to answer that...
Luke has never been to my house and, well, I have been wanting to ask him but I just got nervous and never did what I wanted to do.
Besides, I always thought that maybe he was busy and wouldn't have time to come over.
But, here he is now, asking for my permission to come over so we can work on homework together.
Why does part of me hope that we can spend more time together even after we're done with homework?
Why does that thought alone make me so giddy?
"Stiles?" a hand was placed on my shoulder, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I looked over at Luke and saw him staring at me with a raised eyebrow, concern shown in his eyes.
I spared the others a glance and saw them staring at us, mainly me, in amusement.
My cheeks turned red and I quickly cleared my throat, trying to focus and not get distracted.
Again.
"Sorry, sorry, lost in thought again. But, yeah, you can come over. I don't mind" I nodded.
Luke smiled, happiness and relief washing through his eyes, as he happily nodded.
"Awesome. So, I can just go with you after school then, right?" Luke asked.
"Obviously. What? Were you going to walk when you don't even know where my house is?" I sarcastically asked.
A blush appeared on his cheeks and he looked down at his tray, picking at his rice.
"Possibly" Luke muttered.
A snort escaped my lips while Olivia burst out laughing.
June and Jake shook their heads at her but they themselves joined in on her laughter.
"Oh shut up, idiots!" Luke yelled in annoyance.
He shot them a glare when their laughter simply increased.
He let out a huff, showing them his middle finger, before scooping up a handful of rice and stuffing it into his mouth.
I glanced at him and let out a soft chuckle before going back to eating my own food.
He's cute when he acts like that.
