Chapter 16

Stiles's Pov

When we meet up with the others Luke and I didn't tell them anything that happened.

By that I mean we didn't tell them that I ran into my shitty ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend.

Or tell them that I ran to the bathroom crying like a heartbroken idiot while Luke rushed to comfort me and help me feel better.

However, I blushed bright red when I saw that Luke and I were still holding hands.

I only then realized that we had been holding hands when we exited the bathroom.

Olivia was the first one to notice it and a smirk appeared on her face.

"Ooh, did something happen while you two were alone?" Olivia teasingly asked.

Well, yes, but it's not what she's thinking.

"Damn, Luke. You work fast" Jake grinned, winking at him.

I blushed bright red and buried my face into Luke's shoulder, feeling embarrassed and shy.

Which is ridiculous because I'm not one to get embarrassed let alone shy that easily.

Luke let out a huff before wrapping his arm around me, holding me close as he gently rubbed my hip.

I heard Olivia and Jake groaned and picked my head up, just in time to see them rubbing the back of their heads.

And in time to see June glaring at her girlfriend and her friend.

"Shut up, you two. Can't you see you're making him uncomfortable" June scolded them.

Thank you, June.

I know I can always count on her to keep Olivia and Jake grounded.

Mainly Olivia, given that is her girlfriend.

"And we weren't doing anything other than looking at clothes and stuff" Luke butted in.

"So why are you holding hands?" Jake raised an eyebrow at us suspiciously.

"What? Friends can't hold hands" I asked in annoyance.

I ignored the pit in my stomach when I referred to Luke as a friend.

Especially when these emotions are running through me and somehow, someway, I see him as more than just a friend.

Whether I want to admit that out loud or not.

I also ignored the way that Luke flinched when I referred to him as a friend.

"Yes, friends can hold hands. It's very common" June added.

Again, thank you, June.

Olivia rolled her eyes before making her way to stand at her girlfriends side.

"Whatever. Come on, lets get something to eat and then we can go home. I need rest" Olivia said.

"Sounds good to me. I think I saw a restaurant nearby" Jake nodded.

"You mean that one?" I asked, pointing at the restaurant that was a few feet from where we stood.

"Yep" Jake smiled.

"Come on then. Lets check it out" Luke shrugged.

I nodded as the two of us, still holding hands, walked in front while the others walked behind us.

However, Luke and I stopped in our tracks when we saw two familiar people walk towards the restaurant.

Derek and Braeden.

I watched as Derek wrapped his arm around her shoulders, bringing her closer to his side as she laughed at something he said.

I curled my free hand into a fist as Braeden kissed his cheek before leading him inside.

I swear to god I wanted to punch something.

Luke glanced at me, clear concern showing in his eyes, as he looked at the others.

"Actually, lets go somewhere else, somewhere better" Luke suggested.

"But we didn't even go inside to check the place, it could be good and could have good food" Jake frowned.

"Yes, but there are other places. I saw another restaurant not too far from here" Luke insisted.

Jake opened his mouth to say something when Olivia beat him to it.

"Lets just go there, I'm hungry and just want food in my system" Olivia rolled her eyes.

"Agreed. I don't care where we go but I want food" June added.

Jake sighed before nodding his head in agreement.

"Great. Follow us" Luke smiled.

I sighed in relief as we walked past the restaurant in order to head to the other one.

I spared Luke a glance and smiled softly at him, earning a smile from him as well.

Thank god he acted quickly and managed to convince the others to let us go somewhere else rather than go to the restaurant Derek and Braeden went into.

The last thing I wanted was to be anywhere near my shitty ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend.

Late At Night

The restaurant we had gone into was really nice. The food and the drinks were good, I'm glad we had gone there instead.

We all ordered the same thing since we didn't have much money and didn't fancy getting anything too expensive.

We all split the bill once we were done eating and now it was time for us to go home.

Jake decided that he would ride with Olivia and June this time, leaving Luke and I alone in my jeep.

Luckily, neither of us bought anything, so no need for him to carry anything for when I drop him off at the apartment building.

The drive to the apartment building took longer than expected, given the fact that there was traffic, but we finally made it after a few hours.

Olivia parked her car where she would normally park and got out of the car.

Jake had gotten out first and went to get the shopping bags, only three of four, as he walked inside the building.

Olivia opened the car door and helped June out before closing the door.

Her eyes met mine and she gestured for me to roll down the window.

I did as told and poked my head out the window while Luke watched with furrowed eyebrows.

"I'm going straight to bed once I'm inside, the door will be left open but tell Luke to lock it once he's inside!" Olivia yelled.

I chuckled and turned to Luke, just in time to see him nodding his head.

I nodded at Olivia and sent her a thumbs up, watching as she chuckled slightly before heading inside with June.

I sighed and rolled the window back up before looking at Luke.

"Well, it's fair to say that we both suck at buying things" I said.

Luke let out a loud laugh before sighing as he leaned back against the seat.

"True. But, then again, we didn't really find anything we liked. And if we did, we just didn't want to spend much money" Luke shrugged.

"True. And, honestly, I like spending money on food rather than clothes" I grinned.

"Me too, love. Me too" Luke smiled.

I blushed at that and sighed as I leaned back against my own seat.

We sat in my jeep in comfortable silence. We didn't say anything, we just sat there, staring at anything.

Luke was staring at the window while I was staring at the front of my jeep window.

It's getting late and Luke should get going while I have to head home before my dad starts to worry.

"Thank you" I broke the silence once I spoke up.

Luke turned his head to look at me as he raised an eyebrow at me.

"Thank you for comforting me in the bathroom. Thank you for not leaving my side even after I told you to do so. And, thank you for just being there for me" I softly smiled.

His eyes widened in realization and they softened.

He leaned forward, taking his hands into mine as his eyes met mine.

"You don't have to thank me. If anything I'm glad to have followed after you and comforted you. I hate seeing you sad and I'm happy I got you to smile again" Luke softly said.

"Well, you certainly did just that" I chuckled.

Luke chuckled too as he nodded his head.

He sighed before removing one hand from mine and placing it onto my cheek.

My eyes widened slightly before I slowly leaned into his touch. A sigh of content escaped my lips as he gently caressed my cheek.

His hands were so warm. His touch, that's warm too.

And...and I just love it so much.

"Remember, I'm always going to be here for you. I'll always help you whenever you need me" Luke softly smiled.

That warms my heart more than anything.

I swallowed thickly before deciding to do what I was debating on inside my head.

Slowly, very slowly, I leaned in and pressed my forehead onto Luke's.

I watched as his eyes widened at the sudden action before he leaned into my own touch. His lips twitched ever so slightly.

"You're the best, Luke. The best" I whispered.

"The same goes for you, Stiles" Luke whispered.

I knew that he had to leave soon but I didn't want this moment to end.

Luke let out a sigh of disappointment before pulling away from me. His hand from my cheek was removed and so was his other hand that was holding my hands.

"I'm really sorry to cut this short, but I have to head inside. It's late, after all" Luke frowned.

I frowned myself before sighing as I offered him a faint smile.

"It's fine, don't worry. I should get going too, otherwise my dad will start to worry" I said.

"Well, then, I'll see you at school tomorrow. Right?" Luke asked.

"Of course" I nodded.

He smiled at that before bringing me into a hug, one that I easily returned.

We reluctantly pulled away as Luke opened the door and got out before closing it.

I watched him walk to the apartment building. I smiled when he turned around and waved at me, a wave that I returned.

I sighed as I watched him enter the building and soon he was gone.

I sighed and turned around and banged my head on the steering wheel, thankfully I didn't hit the horn so I avoided making any noise.

Banging my head a few times, I lifted my head up and started the jeep.

After making sure the doors were locked I took off to get home so I could get some sleep.

But, the entire ride home, there was only one thing on my mind.

Am I starting to fall for Luke...?
