Chapter 08

Stiles's Pov

Eating lunch with the new kids yesterday was something really unexpected.

I never thought that people good looking and cool as them would invite me to sit with them, let alone want to get to know me more or want to be my friends.

It was so unreal that I swear I would've passed out if I wanted to.

It was the next day and I was at school, going through my locker, trying to get the books that I needed for today.

While doing that, I felt a presence next to me and when I turned around to look, I smiled when I saw Isaac.

"What's up, bud?" Isaac asked, smiling.

"Hey to you too, bud. And nothing, just getting my books" I shrugged, smiling at him.

"You know, I never understand why we need so many books just for our classes, it's not like we're learning anything important. And even if we are I don't understand how any of this is useful in real life" Isaac scoffed.

I chuckled lightly at that and shook my head at him.

"We go to school to learn, and you never know when you might need these things. They could be important, better to learn now than never" I shrugged.

Isaac only scoffed at that and shook his head.

He's never really liked school, I don't really blame him, nobody likes school.

But he has to learn that school is something we all need, otherwise we may never make it anywhere in life.

"One day you're gonna regret saying that. You'll realize that it was a good thing you went to school because you got an education that led you to getting a good job" I explained to him.

Isaac scoffed at that, clearly not liking the idea.

I rolled my eyes and went back to what I was doing.

"Moving on from that, what's the deal with you and the new kids?" Isaac asked.

I stopped whatever I was doing and looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I asked what's going on between you and the new kids. I mean, it's pretty obvious, considering they invited you to sit with them at lunch" Isaac said.

I eyed him up and down, trying to see what he was getting at.

I rolled my eyes before shutting my locker when I made sure I had everything that I needed.

"Nothing is going on. They just invited me to sit with them at lunch, we got to know each other, talked about some other stuff and laughed at a few jokes we made. That's all" I explained, shrugging my shoulders.

Isaac rolled his eyes and leaned against the lockers.

"You sure nothing else is going on? Especially with you and that Luke kid?" Isaac asked.

At the mention of Luke my cheeks immediately turned red and I looked down at my books, finding them more interesting.

There's something about Luke that just gets me so damn flustered all the time.

I barely know him yet he makes me feel this way already.

It's crazy what one simple person can do to you.

"I don't know what you mean" I said.

"Right, because from what I could see and hear, thanks to my supernatural hearing, he was constantly flirting with you. He even came up with a nickname for you" Isaac said.

"That doesn't mean anything. He probably flirts with a few other kids" I shrugged.

"No he doesn't. I've seen girls and a few boys walk away from him looking sad, angry and disappointed" Isaac chuckled.

I wanted to smile at that, I guess it made me happy to know that he's not flirting with anyone else at school.

But I shook my head at that and had some courage to look at Isaac, especially when I felt the blush from my cheeks disappearing.

"Look, it doesn't matter if he's flirting with me or not, him and the others are just very welcoming and sweet towards me" I said, getting annoyed.

"Yeah, sure, whatever you say" Isaac sarcastically said.

I glared at him and reached forward to smack him upside the head.

Isaac groaned and glared at me, making me smirk in satisfaction.

"Sorry, am I interrupting something?" a voice from behind me asked.

I turned around and saw Luke standing behind me, a few books in his hands.

I blushed when I saw him eyeing me up and down, a smirk fighting its way onto his lips.

"Oh, uh, hey Luke. How's it going?" I nervously asked.

"Nothing much, I was at my locker when I saw you and decided to come over" Luke shrugged.

I opened my mouth to say something when Isaac beat me to it.

"I have to go and meet up with the others, you two have fun" Isaac smirked.

He winked at me before turning around and walking away.

I rolled my eyes at his antics and turned around to look at Luke, just in time to see him frowning in annoyance, his eyes strained on Isaac's walking figure.

"Why did he wink at you? And more importantly who is he?" Luke asked.

We both began walking, a bit slowly for that matter, since the bell hasn't rung just yet.

"Isaac's just a friend of mine, a really good friend for that matter" I said.

"You sure he's just a friend?" Luke asked.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"I'm just asking, I mean friends don't wink at friends, is there something going on between you two?" Luke asked.

I swear I could hear the jealousy in his voice as he spoke.

Why is he jealous?

I mean, we barely know each other, so why is he suddenly getting jealous?

"Isaac is just a friend, I've known him for quite a while and he's like the brother I never had. Besides, he has a crush on someone else" I said.

Believe it or not Isaac has a crush on Scott.

And while I hate Scott, if Isaac really does like him then I won't get in the way of his happiness.

I just wish he had chosen someone else to like, I feel like he deserves better than someone like Scott.

"Then why did he wink at you?" Luke asked.

"It's just a playful wink, not a flirty one, he does it all the time and I find it amusing or annoying. Not attractive" I said.

Luke stopped in his tracks, causing me to stop.

He turned his body around, making me do the same we both stood in front of each other, being eye-level with one another.

Luke raised an eyebrow at me as he scanned me up and down, almost as if he were trying to figure something out.

I swallowed thickly, not really sure how to react.

"Whatever you say, love" Luke hummed.

Luke sent me a smirk and caressed my shoulder before walking inside the classroom.

I stood there frozen, unsure of what to say and what to do.

I snapped out of it and just walked inside the classroom, choosing to ignore what happened and bring it up another time.

Much to my surprise, I saw that Olivia, June and Jake were already in the classroom.

Luke had made his way to sit next to Jake and was currently sitting on his desk as they both spoke to each other.

June was sitting on Olivia's lap, she was playing with Olivia's hair while Olivia was on her phone with her arm around June's waist.

Jake saw me and smiled before gesturing me towards him.

I reluctantly walked towards them and set my books down on my desk. I sat in front of Jake while Luke sat next to him.

"Hey, Stiles. What's up?" Jake asked.

"Uh, nothing much, the same old same old. Why?" I asked.

"Me and the others are heading to the mall, courtesy of June, after school. Wanna join us?" Jake asked.

My eyes widened at that, not expecting him to ask me something like that.

I looked at Luke and saw him staring at me, waiting for an answer.

"Uh...well, are you sure you want me to come? I don't want to be a bother" I asked, quite nervously.

I don't want to go and end up being a burden to them. The last thing I want is to ruin their fun by bringing me.

I mean, that's one of the reasons why I was kicked out of the pack, because Scott and Derek thought of me as a burden.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. I turned around and saw Luke staring at me, quite intently for that matter. I swear his stare made my legs weak and made me more nervous for his answer.

"Love, why would you even ask something as idiotic as that?" Luke asked.

I was surprised when he asked that.

I was sure he was going to say something else. I thought he was going to change his mind and say I couldn't come.

His response wasn't the one that I thought he was going to say.

"I...I just don't want to intrude on-" I started but was cut off, this time but June.

"Stiles, if we want you to come is because we like hanging out with you. Sure, we literally only met you yesterday but you seem like a really nice guy and we want to get to know you more. And this is a start" June kindly explained.

I stared at her in shock, not expecting her to say something like that.

Olivia nodded and looked up from her phone to look at me.

"Dude, you're coming and that's final. Don't try and argue with us" Olivia sternly said.

Jake and June smiled while nodding their heads.

Luke smiled at his sister before turning to me, the smile turning into a smirk.

"You're coming, love. End of discussion" Luke smirked.

I gulped and nodded, feeling my cheeks turn red.

I heard laughter and I turned around to see Jake and June laughing while Olivia rolled her eyes at us.

I rolled my eyes at them but that didn't stop a small smile from appearing on my face.

Honestly how did I not realize that I was slowly becoming friends with these guys.

How did I not realize that these guys really want to be my friend?

And how did I not realize the new adventure I would be getting myself into when becoming friends with them.
