Chapter 06
Stiles's Pov
I had to admit that lunch with the new kids was actually really, really, amazing.
They were all so nice. Or in Luke and Olivia's case, a bit sassy and on the edge, but they were still pretty nice. In their own way, of course.
June is the sweet one in the friend group, but she's also the mother of the ground too. She's the one that breaks up sibling fights between Luke and Olivia. Occasionally breaking up playful fights between Jake and Luke.
It was hilarious, absolutely hilarious.
Jake is the caring one of the group. He's always there for all of us, always nice and offering to help no matter what it is. He offered me some of his lunch when I finished mine but was still hungry.
If I get to know that kid a bit more better, I'd definitely consider him as my new best friend.
Lastly, the twins of the friend group, Luke and Olivia. They're the badass leaders of the friend group.
They're the ones that are always looking out for everyone, as well as themselves, and make sure that they're all safe. They're also really overprotective of everyone.
Olivia is most definitely overprotective of June. I already know that if anything were to happen to her girlfriend, the love of her life, all hell would break loose.
Luke, he was absolutely amazing in every single way.
I can see in his eyes how much he cares about his two best friends and his twin sister. He loves all three of them. He would do anything for him. And just by looking at him I can tell that he's someone not to mess with.
He's shown me that if anything were to happen to the people he loves the most, he wouldn't hesitate to fight an asshole or two.
And despite his constant flirty winks and smirks, he's really amazing.
I...I just wish I would stop getting flustered around him over the littlest things.
"So, how are you guys liking Beacon Hills so far?" I asked.
"It's a small and shitty town" Olivia shrugged.
I chuckled at that, especially when June hit her arm in a scolding manner.
"What my girlfriend means is that it's a really nice town. Small, but nice overall" June said.
"Yeah, and I have to admit that it's better than our old school" Jake nodded, taking a bite out of his carrot.
"Which reminds me, where did you guys live before coming here?" I asked.
"San Francisco" Luke and Olivia said.
When they said that me, June and Jake made eye contact with each other before we started laughing.
I guess people are right when they say that twins really do think alike.
"Was it nice there?" I asked, my curiosity taking over.
"Meh, it's in between good and bad" Luke shrugged.
"Agreed" Olivia nodded.
I opened my mouth to ask something else when I was cut off by the bell ringing, meaning that it was time for our next class.
This made me groan in annoyance.
I heard both Jake and June let out annoyed sighs, while both Luke and Olivia groaned and hit their heads on top of the table.
"Great, just when we were having fun, the bell rings signalling that it's time for hell" Olivia scowled.
This made me snort, and I swear I heard both Jake and Luke chuckle.
June sighed and shook her head before standing up, grabbing her trash that was on the table.
"Come on, lets just get the day over and done with so we can head home" June said.
"Yeah, agreed" Jake nodded.
He patted me on the shoulder before getting up and following June's lead.
Olivia groaned and hid her face with her hands, seemingly tired and done with school.
I sighed and stood up, wanting to help them since it was clear that Olivia wasn't going to do it. But I can't really blame her for not wanting to help.
However, as soon as I stood up, I felt a hand grab my arm, stopping me.
I turned around, only to see that it was Luke.
He smirked up at me before slowly standing up, causing us to be face to face with each other.
I gulped at how close we were, not as close when Jake introduced me to them, but still close enough to make my heart beat faster.
"Don't worry about that, love. Let us handle it, you just gather your things and head to class" Luke said, his tone was nothing but flirtatious.
My cheeks turned red, more than they already were, as I swallowed thickly.
I took a glance at the others and saw that June and Jake were still cleaning up.
While Olivia had picked her head up and was giving the both of us deadpan looks.
I cleared my throat before looking at Luke again.
"Are you sure? I don't mind helping" I said.
Luke chuckled and slowly brought his hand up and cupped the side of my cheek.
I froze, not expecting him to do that.
"Not to worry, love. We've got it all under control, and we don't mind being a bit late for class. So you run along ahead" Luke smirked.
I could barely open my mouth to say something, I was really frozen in my place.
Maybe even more due to the fact that Luke thought it was a good idea to caress my cheek, causing my blush to increase.
"Y-yeah, o-ok" I stuttered.
"Good. See you later, love" Luke winked.
He released his hold on my cheek and turned around to help June and Jake.
I stood there completely shocked. He just flirted with me, touched and caressed my cheek and now he's going to help June and Jake and act as if it nothing happened.
I shook my head and gathered my things before leaving to head to class. Maybe a boring assignment could help take my mind off things.
After School
Finally school was over, which was a relief for me, but at the same time I felt sad.
It was a relief because I could finally go home and not have to see the pack for the rest of the day.
But I was also sad, surprisingly, because I'm not going to see the others until tomorrow.
I've grown so attached to Luke, Olivia, June and Jake that I'm just not ready to let them go. Especially when I just got to know them.
I was at my locker, getting my things inside my bag, when I felt a presence near me. I turned around and a smile appeared on my face when I saw both June and Olivia leaning against the lockers.
"Hey Stiles" June smiled.
"Hey June, hey Olivia" I smiled and nodded at both of them.
"Sup" Olivia nodded.
She stood behind June and wrapped her arms around her waist, resting her chin on her shoulder.
June smiled at her and pecked her cheek softly, making Olivia smile at her.
I smiled at their interaction, but a frown appeared on my face, their interaction brought back memories of me and Derek.
I remember how he would sometimes visit the school just to have small meetings with me and the other pack members about an upcoming attack. He would always talk and explain things, but with me by his side since I was the one that came up with the plans.
I remember how he'd want me standing next to him. How he would wrap an arm around my waist, how he would kiss my cheek and gently caress it and how he would pepper my face with kisses when we were done with the meetings.
Those were great memories.
But all of that was now gone.
And none of it was real. It was real for me, but it was never real for Derek.
"Stiles" I heard June say.
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at June and Olivia and saw that they were staring at me in concern.
June reached over and gently placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Stiles, are you ok?" June asked.
"Yeah, you look like you were about to cry" Olivia said, raising an eyebrow at me.
Shit, I can't cry.
I can't cry in front of them. I don't want them to see me as weak. I don't want them to see me like the pack, of course not including the ones that still care about me, do.
I cleared my throat and sent them both small smiles.
"It's nothing, don't worry about it" I shrugged it off, acting like it wasn't a big deal.
Even though it was, but I don't want them to know that.
"You sure, cause you zoned out for a bit" Olivia said.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm sure. I'm just a bit stressed with school and other stuff, that's all" I reassured her.
Well, it's half the truth.
I can tell just by looking at their facial expressions that they didn't believe what I was saying. But to my relief they let it go, not wanting to pressure me in saying anything.
"Well, me and Olivia actually came here to ask if you needed a ride home?" June asked.
"Yeah we don't mind, we're heading home anyway" Olivia shrugged.
"If anything Luke was totally fine with driving you home. He basically insisted on taking you home, I'm not even kidding" June giggled.
Olivia snorted at that, but nodded her head, confirming that what June was saying is true.
This made me blush bright red as I slowly closed my locker.
Luke really insisted on taking me home. He wanted to take me home that badly.
I mean, it shouldn't really be a big deal, because I'm sure everyone has been offered rides by their friends all the time.
So, why am I blushing just because Luke insisted on taking me?
Should I feel special or something?
"I'm sorry guys, as much as I'd love to, I actually drive around my jeep. I always do" I softly said.
I felt really bad rejecting their offer, especially when they seemed really excited to drop me off at home.
And I felt disappointed that I wasn't going, especially when I'm ruining my chances of hanging out with them and getting to know them better. Especially with Luke.
"Are you sure? We really don't mind" Olivia said.
"I'm sure. And besides, I don't want to leave it here only to find that it's gone the next day. I really love that jeep and don't want to lose it" I softly explained.
Even if I wanted to accept their offer, it wouldn't make sense when I have my own ride.
And I really don't want to leave it here. The last thing I want is to explain to my dad what happened and him having to pay for it in the end.
"Huh, well if you're sure" June smiled.
"Yeah, I'm sure" I nodded.
"Whatever, your loss. Get home safe, and remember, same table tomorrow for lunch" Olivia said.
June smiled and nodded before waving me goodbye as she dragged Olivia away.
When they were gone a small smile made its way onto my face. I gripped onto my bag a bit tighter before turning around and walking towards the exit.
I'm going to see them again. I'm gonna hang out with them for lunch again. Hanging out with them at lunch today wasn't just a one day thing. It's gonna happen again tomorrow.
Never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait for school tomorrow.
