Chapter 05

Stiles's Pov

School is weird, it's always been weird and for multiple things.

But for me, it's the new kids.

Now you see, I have nothing against them, considering it's their first day here and they're just trying to be familiar with everything here. Not to mention they seem pretty cool.

But I have a few issues with that Luke guy.

For example, as soon as his friends and sister sat down he would not stop looking at me.

I would catch him staring at me the entire class. I would take quick glances just to see if he was still staring at me and he was.

It's not like his stares made me uncomfortable or anything. It just confuses me.

Why would he stare at me the entire time? Do I have something on my face? Does he not like me?

However, I don't think he doesn't like me.

Why?

Because whenever I caught him staring at me, he wouldn't get embarrassed or glare at me.

No. Instead, he would smirk at me and send flirty winks in my direction.

It would get me all flustered that I had to contain myself from looking back at him. Cause if I did I would just blush all over again.

Great, this kid just showed up today and he's already making me flustered.

I sighed in relief when the bell finally rang, indicating that it was time for lunch. I quickly gathered all my stuff before shooting up from my seat and left the classroom.

I made my way to my locker and stuffed my things inside before closing it and making my way to the cafeteria.

When I got there I looked around and already saw a few students forming a line to get their lunch. I smiled when I saw Kira and Malia already there. They were talking to each other while holding hands.

I made my way to the line and luckily I got there in time to stand with Malia and Kira.

"Hey guys" I smiled.

"Hey, Stiles" Kira smiled.

"Sup, dumbass" Malia smirked.

I playfully glared at her before letting out a small laugh when Kira sent her a scolding look and hit her arm.

Malia rolled her eyes before wrapping her arm around her waist, pulling her closer to her side.

"So, what's for lunch?" I asked.

"My guess is tacos" Malia shrugged.

"Maybe sandwiches" Kira shrugged.

"I don't care what it is. Just as long as it's edible because I'm hungry" Malia groaned in annoyance.

This made me and Kira look at each other before we began laughing.

We all know how Malia gets when she's hungry. It's funny yet scary at the same time. But mostly funny. At least for me and Kira.

When our laughter died down, Malia turned to look at me and I saw concern flash through her eyes.

"What? What's wrong?" I asked, confused and worried.

"What are you gonna do when you get your lunch?" Malia asked.

I raised an eyebrow at that, confused as to what she meant.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean where are you going to sit once you've gotten your lunch" Malia said.

This made my eyes widen as my mouth formed into an 'O' shape.

Crap.

I don't have anywhere to sit for lunch.

I mean, normally I would've gone to sit with the pack, just like I always do.

But after getting kicked out, I'm not really sure sitting with Scott and the rest of his followers (minus Kira, Malia, Isaac, Liam and Theo) is a good idea. Especially when I want nothing more than to avoid them.

"Damn" I sighed as I ran a hand through my hair.

Malia and Kira both frowned at me in worry.

"Stiles, if you want we can sit with you. Or better yet we can convince Scott and the others to eat outside" Kira suggested.

"Yeah, it won't be that hard convincing them. I have a few ideas of persuasion" Malia smirked, her eyes wandering down her hands.

Kira shook her head and hit her arm, again, this made me laugh while Malia groaned and glared at her girlfriend.

"Thanks, guys. But it's alright. I'll just head outside once I've gotten my lunch" I reassured them.

Both of them looked at each other before looking at me, frowns on their faces.

"Stiles, are you sure?" Kira asked.

"Yeah, we really don't have a problem convincing the pack to eat outside. It really won't be that hard" Malia said.

"Guys, I appreciate that, I really do. But I'd rather eat outside than make you guys talk to them just so they can leave. The last thing I want is for Scott to start drama and for a fight to happen" I explained.

I'm honestly not in the mood to pick a fight with Scott.

After everything that happened that day during the pack meeting, I don't want to deal with him or his stupidity.

I'm not in the mood for a headache.

"Alright, if you're sure" Kira sighed.

"I'm sure. Besides, I like eating outside, it's nice" I shrugged, giving her a small smile.

Malia rolled her eyes at that but I could still see the small smile on her face. She sighed before patting me on the back.

"We'll make it up to you somehow, I promise" Malia said.

"You don't need to do that. Besides, you guys still being by my side, especially when you're still apart of the pack, is more than enough" I reassured her.

Both of them smiled at me and nodded.

I sighed before walking once the line had started moving.

When me, Kira and Malia got out lunch trays I reluctantly said goodbye to them before making my way towards the exit so I could head outside.

I walked past the packs table, making sure to keep my head down to avoid making eye contact with Scott or anyone else.

However, just when I was close to the exit, I felt a hand on my shoulder stopping me from going any further.

I swallowed thickly before turning my head around to see who it was.

I sighed in relief when I saw that it wasn't Scott or the other pack members. Thank lords.

However, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the person who had stopped me from going to the exit.

Jake Larson. Aka one of the four new kids.

What the hell is he doing here? More importantly, what does he want?

"Hey, you're Stiles Stilinski, right?" Jake asked.

"Uh...yeah, that's me" I nodded.

"Cool. I remember seeing you in the class me and my friends entered. Even when looking at everyone's face, you stood out to me the most. Not just me, but my friends too" Jake smiled.

I frowned at that, confused and a bit suspicious.

I'm sure that there are many other students that could stand out to him and his friends the most.

Why me? What makes me special?

Because according to my ex-best friend and my ex-boyfriend, I'm nothing but worthless and useless. They made it perfectly clear.

"Oh, wow, really?" I nervously asked.

"Yeah. We don't really know why, I guess it's because you give off a different vibe" Jake shrugged, smiling lightly.

A different vibe...? What kind of different vibe?

I opened my mouth to try and excuse myself, not wanting to talk to him much longer, when Jake beat me to it.

"What are you doing standing? Aren't you gonna sit with your friends" Jake asked, raising an eyebrow.

I had to swallow thickly when he mentioned friends.

I never wanted to hear that word again. The only ones I can truly consider my friends are the ones that continue to be by my side after getting kicked out of the pack just because I'm human.

"I don't really want to sit with them. I was actually getting ready to head outside and eat" I said.

"Hmmm" Jake hummed.

I was really hoping he would let me go, I seriously didn't want to be here for many reasons. One of them being Scott and the others.

Ever since Jake came up to talk to me they've been glancing at us now and then and it would piss me off. Especially when I caught Scott glaring at both of us, but his eyes mostly remained on me.

"Well, why not sit with me and my friends?" Jake suggested.

I ended up choking on my own air, I nearly dropped my lunch tray but I managed to hold onto it tightly.

Ain't no way I was going to drop my lunch. I spent so much time on the line just to get food. I ain't gonna lose it. Especially when I'm hungry as hell because all I had to eat today was my dad's pancakes.

"Uh...well...I don't know" I nervously stuttered.

The new kids just arrived and now one of them is inviting me to sit with them, are you kidding me.

"Oh come on, it's better than being alone" Jake said.

Well, gotta admit, that is true.

Whether I wanna admit it in real life or not, eating by yourself can get lonely at times.

People that usually sit by themselves are used to it and don't get bothered by it because that's how they are. They're either used to being alone or they'd prefer to be alone instead of being with others.

But, that's not how I am.

I've been sitting with the pack all my life. They were my friends before everything went downhill. They were the ones that I sat with during lunch and always had a fun time with them.

Now that I've been kicked out, I'm basically alone. Despite Malia, Kira, Isaac, Liam and Theo still being by my side it doesn't change the fact that I'm still alone. They're still in the pack while I'm alone.

"Alright, I'll join" I sighed, agreeing to what he said.

"Awesome, come on" Jake smiled.

He caught me by surprise when he grabbed my lunch tray and began walking away.

I guess I should follow him.

I sighed and quickly followed behind him, making sure to duck my head when I walked past the pack's table.

I was aware of their eyes behind my back, staring at me intently as I followed Jake. I just ignored them, like I've been doing since I arrived at school.

When we made it to Jake's table I saw the other three kids sitting at the table.

The girls, June and Olivia, were sitting next to each other. Olivia had her arm around June's shoulders while June was feeding herself and Olivia too.

I smiled bitterly at their interaction.

It reminded me of the times Derek took me out to eat when we were still dating.

Those memories were great. But that's all gone down the drain after he broke my heart and sided with Scott.

I shook my head and turned to look at Luke. The boy that was staring at me the entire time in class. The boy that sent winks and smirks in my direction whenever I glanced at him.

He was staring at his food, picking at it a few times with a disgusted look on his face.

Guess he doesn't like school food, huh?

"Hey guys, look who I brought with me" Jake said.

The three of them looked up and looked at me. This made me awkwardly smile and wave at them, not really knowing what else to do.

"Hi" I awkwardly said.

June smiled at me and extended her hand out.

"Nice to meet you, as you can tell I'm June. We're in the same class that we entered when we got here" June said.

I offered her a small smile and shook her hand.

"Yeah, I know. Nice to meet you, I'm Stiles" I said.

I jumped when a loud laugh escaped Olivia's mouth. She looked up at me with a small teasing smirk on her face.

"What kind of a name is Stiles?" Olivia asked.

I sighed in slight annoyance and amusement at that. While both Luke and June glared at her.

"Liv, be nice" June scolded her.

Olivia rolled her eyes but nodded, placing a kiss to June's temple before going back to eating.

"Sorry about her, she's always like that" Jake said.

"It's fine. I'm used to it since everyone always asks that whenever I introduce myself to them" I chuckled.

"Either way, my sister had no right to say it like that" Luke suddenly spoke up.

I turned to look at him, he looked up at me as another smirk appeared on his face.

I gulped as he slowly sat up. He placed both his hands on the table and leaned forward, the smirk on his face never leaving his face.

I swallowed thickly when he leaned in closer. He stopped but didn't move, I swear we were so close to each other, our noses were so close to touching.

"It's nice to see you again, love" Luke said in a smooth voice.

Love...

He called me love.

Should I be a bit annoyed? Or should I be loving it?

"Uh...sorry, but my name is Stiles" I said.

Luke chuckled at that and shook his head, amusement flashing through his eyes.

"I know that. But I think love is a better name for a cute boy like you" Luke smirked.

My cheeks turned bright red when he slowly brought his hand up. The smirk on his face widened even more before he slowly planted his head on top of my head.

"So, that's what I'm going to call you. And I suggest you get used to it, because that's what I'll be calling you from now on" Luke whispered.

My breath hitched and I felt myself slowly nodding.

Luke nodded before slowly removing his hand from my head before backing away from me.

A small sigh of relief escaped my lips when he was no longer close to me.

But for some reason, I was already missing it. Which I couldn't understand why.

I heard Olivia clear her throat, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I turned to look at her and saw that an unamused look on her face as she looked at both me and Luke. June had a happy smile on her face while Jake had an amused smile on his face.

"Luke, stop flirting with the poor kid and sit your ass down. I'm pretty sure he wants to eat" Olivia deadpanned.

Luke rolled his eyes before nodding his head.

I let out a tiny yelp when he grabbed my arm and pulled me down to sit next to him.

"You're sitting with me, love" Luke said, not giving me room to say anything.

I let out a small sigh of defeat and nodded my head.

Jake chuckled before putting my tray in front of me before taking a seat, which happened to be next to June.

I glanced at Luke and saw that he was still looking at me, the smirk on his face never left as he picked at his food.

Should I be annoyed by that handsome smirk on his handsome face?

Wait...hold up, did I just say handsome?

"So, Stiles" June spoke up.

I reluctantly looked away from Luke to look at June.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Tell us about yourself, we'd like to know more about you" June smiled.

Jake smiled and nodded. Olivia rolled her eyes but nodded as well.

I turned to look at Luke and was surprised when I was met with him smiling gently at me. It was a small smile, but at least it wasn't a smirk.

"Yeah, love. Don't leave us hanging. We'd love to know more about you" Luke gently said.

I don't know why, but I found myself smiling softly at him, as well as the others, and nodding my head as I began telling them a little more about me.

Maybe agreeing to sit with them wasn't such a bad idea.
