Cornelia and Flavia are friends. Today they don't sit; they walk by the beach instead, collecting seashells as they go. After walking for a short period of time, Cornelia's legs ache and she returns to her villa. She no longer walks, preferring instead to sit under the tree. Flavia, being a very active girl, runs barefoot in the sand and enjoys its warmth as her toes wriggle in. After a while, Flavia also gets tired. Now the girls sit under the tree to rest because they're tired. While they sit under the tree, Cornelia reads about the treatment of Roman slaves and Flavia types and types. (She's currently hit 45 wpm.) The girls slowly walk back to their respective homes.
