BONUS CHAPTER
"In every group, there is a group," I stated with a smile, making most of us nod.
We had decided to meet up, after a very long time. We went an extra mile to invite Khalid and co. he winded up with palace guards, it was so cute to watch. He was really embarrassed and shy about it at first, but he later relaxed, when we started talking endlessly and eating. We agreed to meet at a Dominos pizzeria.
"Like us naw," I continued. "We have; Esse, Amarachi, Myself, and Toyosi. Then we have the same list with Tosin involved. Then, Esse and Amarachi. We have Toyosi and Soma. We have the triplets. We have Khalid, Samuel, and Emmanuel. We have Joseph and Collins. And then, myself and Collins."
"True sha," Collins agreed. "Make person no just lost."
We laughed, while I reached for a slice of pizza, then sipped from my bottle of Cocacola through a straw.
"So, which school is everyone applying to?" Aisha asked, clapping her hands together, trying to dust the remaining crumbs of pizza crust on her hands.
I shrugged, then replied, "UNILAG. You?"
Aisha smiled, running her hand back and forth between the triplets as she replied, "We are too."
"Same here," Esse muttered, but loud enough for us to hear.
"Yeah, me too," Toyosi voiced out. "But I heard it is a hard one."
"There isn't any that isn't a hard one, that is why ones best is required," Science said with a shrug.
"Hmmm. Deep." I nodded, so did every one.
"Mine is either UNIIBADAN or UNILAG," Samuel said as he pulled his straw to his mouth, taking a long pull of his Fanta.
Soma nodded. "UNILAG also."
"Same here," Emmanuel replied.
"And here too," Science said.
"Here too," Joseph also said.
Tosin shrugged. "Apparently."
I chuckled. "You ehn," I said to her, shaking my head with a smile.
She shrugged again, picking a slice of pizza and eating as she asked, "What?"
I simply chuckled, still shaking my head.
Like on cue, everyone turned to Khalid, he was the only one who hadn't spoken. He was drinking really focused from his Pulpy Orange Five Alive drink. It was our silence that drew his attention, making him pause and straighten his spine. "Err..." He tilted his head to the right, asking a question with his expression.
I lifted a brow. "You haven't been listening to what we've been talking about?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I have."
I relaxed back on my seat, slouching a bit as I crossed my arm across my chest. "Then?"
His face squeezed into a frown, then he sighed and said, "My dad wants me to try out for Harvard and Oxford." He shrugged, then bent back down to keep on sucking from his drink that was still on the table.
"That's cool," Toyosi said with a smile. "I mean, most of us do want such opportunity."
Some of us nodded, Khalid snorted. "Yeah right," he replied, not sounding please or convinced, making me reach out to playfully spank his head.
"Don't be an ingrate."
Khalid was about to reply when a coo came from Adijah. "You guys are so cute together." Her words were innocent, but they made Khalid move uncomfortably in his seat as he cleared his throat.
I chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah right? But we chose to be friends, we settled with that."
Khalid turned to me, looking me up to down. He still hadn't agree to be just friends. He said that what he had felt for me was too strong, that us being friends was only going to make him think there was still hope for us. I perfectly understood where he was coming from, so I didn't push it at all, I let him. So, me replying with such comment, probably pissed him off, but made me laugh. "You and who?" he muttered, loud enough for my ears alone, making me smile. "You like trouble," he said close to my ear, stretching a bit as he leaned towards my chair.
I smiled. "Well."
He chuckled, then sat down back up right, turn to fully look at me. He looked at me like I was a precious gem, like I was an egg, tender yet extreme beautiful and precious. I sighed, then looked away. Him looking at me like that, made me really uncomfortable.
"I see a future there," Adijah said, point at both of us.
I chuckled, then scoffed. "As if," I said as I turned to look at Khalid, who was still staring at me with a smile. "Behave," I mouthed to him, making him sigh and look away.
We spent the rest of our time talking randomly about random things, while I tried not to trigger Khalid's habit of staring at me.
It wasn't until late in the evening, before we said our good byes and dispersed.
I couldn't stop thinking of them in my uber ride, on my way home. They had all come a great way in my life, they were like family. Spending time with them, made time seem so fast, I also never ever want to separate from them. I was glad I got to meet them all.
I hope we all stay friends forever.
Friends forever?
I sent to the general group chat.
'Friends forever.'
They all began to reply one by one.
I smiled, then muttered to myself, "Forever."
