Shadow flew home quickly, getting what she needed and leaving her bag behind. She was so busy she didn't hear her door open as her sister walked in. 

"Getting ready to see your friends?" Scarlet asked. 

"Huh?!" Shadow said as she looked up seeing her sister, almost falling in surprise. "When did you get home???" 

"Not even 10 minutes ago. Anyway I wanted to ask if I could come along this time? Please?" Scarlet asked, giving her sister her best puppy eyes. But as normal Shadow rolled her eyes at her sister as she kept getting her costume on. 

"And why do you want to come? This morning on the bus ya seemed mad at me. Wouldn't let me sit next to ya" Shadow pointed out. 

"Ya, I'm mad at YOU. Not Rover, Cloud, and Tiga" Scarlet said, feeling all proud of herself for pointing that out to her sister.

"Mm hm. And why do you want to come you don't even have a costume" Shadow said as she bucked her boots, seeing her sister rush into the closet, "And you don't know whats going on in the story, and I don't know how we would fit ya in!" she quickly added. 

Scarlet sighed sadly as she dropped what she had grabbed from the closet and walked out, "Could I at least watch?" 

Shadow sighed, getting really annoyed, but before she could say anything her dad called, "SHADOW, SCARLET! PLEASE COME DOWN HERE YOUR MOTHER AND I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!"

"COMING DAD!" Scarlet called back, as she started to race down the stairs. 

"SHADOW!" her dad called again" 

"ONE MOMENT I'M JUST GETTING MY COSTUME ON, MY FRIENDS AND I ARE-" Shadow was cut off by her father yelling back. 

"NO YOUR NOT, I'LL EXPLAIN WHY WHEN YOU GET DOWN HERE!" 

Shadow growled as she took her costume off and put her normal clothing back on, and tried not to stomp down the stairs. "Ok so why can't I go?" 

Her mom and dad looked to each other before her father started, "You see, a fowl with both the markings of a fox and owl has been found, and well..." 

"Well?" Shadow asked.

"He was made king yesterday of both the fowl and owlox" her father finished.

"So we got a new king, big deal, seems to happen every 5 years. So what does it have to do with me not being able to go see my friends?" Shadow said, as she was bored with the subject of their rulers.

"I was about to get to that," her father took a deep breath, "He made a new law forbidding any owlox or fowl to interact with other animals. I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do." 

Both Shadow and Scarlet's jaws dropped, they couldn't believe what they were hearing. They weren't aloud to be with their friends because of the law. 

Shadow backed away, nearing the door. She wasn't going to let this happen, she was going to find this new king, and demand that he change his law! She was going to right this horrible deed. "I-I need some air" she said. 

"Then go to the back sweetie, sweetie?" her mom said, as Shadow grabbed the door nob. "Don't you dare open that door young-". But before  mom could finish she was already out the door flying, flying to her friends.

Shadow landed at the place they would meet before everything, she than pulled out her phone, texting them in a group chat to come to this spot. In no time her friends came one by one, first the odd party animal Cloud the cat, then the fierce Tiga the tiger, and finally the cyborg Rover the dog.

"What's all this about?" Cloud asked.

"Ya, and why weren't you at the edge of the forest for the cosplay? We had to do it without you!" Rover questioned, his voice static with worry.

"We thought that something happened, but you would have told us if you had plans! Shadow, what were you doing?!" Tiga asked, obviously upset. 

"Look guys, I know your upset and were worried, but I swear that I have a good reason!" Shadow exclaimed quietly. 

"And that is?" Tiga asked. 

"There's a new king of the fowl... and owlox".
