"What are you doing?!" A woman barked. Behind her loomed Charles and Erik.

Lila flinched at the loud sound and Raven dropped her hands, jumping down besides her.

Everyone stopped, caught red handed and currently being stared down by older adults. Older adults with disappointed looks on their faces.

Lila wrapped her arms around herself, the sleeves of Alex's jacket covering her hands.

Raven placed a comforting arm around Lila's slim shoulders.

"Who broke the statue?" the woman, Moira, waved at it with wide eyes.

"It was Alex," Hank blurted.

Lila gasped as Hank snitched and Alex himself threw his hands up exasperatedly.

"No! Havok, we have to call him Havok that's his name."

Raven let go of Lila who tried to signal to her to shut up, but the blonde walked forward.

"And we were thinking you should be Professor X... and you should be Magneto," Raven announced with an excited gleam in her eyes.

Lila shuffled closer to Alex at their judgmental gazes.

"Exceptional," Erik scoffed before turning and walking away.

Moira stomped away and Charles went to follow, not before shooting Raven a disappointed look. "I expect more from you."

Lila pressed her face into Alex's biceps and looked at Raven worriedly.

"I-It's okay Raven, don't worry about him," she tried to comfort. Raven's face had fallen into one of despair but she still managed to send Lila a pitiful smile.

Everyone was sullen after that, fixing up the room before an agent came to escort them to a different wing entirely. One that was more guarded with less space.

Lila and Alex trailed behind everyone, Sean besides Alex.

"What if they send us back?" Lila muttered to the blonde man.

"They're not going to," he assured her.

She was wringing her hands together and staring at her feet, Alex felt a pang at his chest. He knew she didn't want anyone to act up before hand. This was the exact reason why.

"Look at me, Lila," he nudged her. They just got to their new lounge room and she turned to him with a small frown.

He tapped her chin playfully to keep her attention, "It'll all work out." Slowly she nodded, relenting.

He fixed the jacket around her shoulders, "This looks good on you."

Lila couldn't stop the smile on her face, she shoved him away playfully with a shake of her head.

"Stop flirting, I've only know you for a day," she mocked with a grin.

Alex spluttered, "I'm not flirting."

"Sure you aren't," Lila hummed as the blood rushed to her face.

"Thank you though," she gripped his hand and gave it a squeeze. "You're the best person I know. Even if it has only been a month and a half. And in a prison. And from behind a wall."

He scoffed and pushed her gently to the crowd. "Yeah, yeah. I'm the best ever, old news Lila," he muttered playfully in her ear and watched her shiver.

He coughed when she elbowed him in the stomach.

Darwin caught his attention, challenging him to a game of pinball. He shot Lila one last look before ushering her to go sit on the couch and relax.

Lila plopped down besides Raven who has cheered up some.

"How did you and Alex meet?" Raven grinned at her. Sean, Angel, and Hank were all apart of the group discussion.

Lila winced, scratching at the back of her head.

"You see it's a long story..."

The four others balked at Lila's recount of how her and Alex met.

"You-You were in prison?" Sean yelled in shock.

"Technically, my sentence wasn't like prison time it was solely to keep me away from others. Even though they didn't figure out how my mutation even worked... putting me in a building I could easily get out of and all," Lila twiddled her thumbs sheepishly.

"So why'd you stay? I would've been out of there," Angel laid out on the couch.

"I didn't have anywhere else to go," Lila shrugged as she gripped her drink.

"And Alex showed up... he was the first person I had to talk to for 13 months. I didn't have any option besides solitary confinement, I know Alex preferred it but.... it wasn't for me."

Raven placed her hand on top of Lila's, "Well I'm glad you're here. You belong here not in some box."

"I agree," Lila toyed with the leather sleeves.

"So... you and Alex aren't a thing?" Sean leaned forward a tad.

Lila opened her mouth to answer but hesitated. If she said yes, they would think the two were dating. If she said no, it was denying the fact that Alex did make her feel a certain type of way.

"Let me rephrase- you're free game?" Sean smirked.

"No, definitely not that," Lila shook her head with a chuckle.

The group went back and forth, swapping stories for a good while.

Lila couldn't believe Alex was still playing pinball. Who plays pinball for an hour?

While curled up on one of the arm chairs, having snagged a magazine that was out she was startled when knocking sounded on the glass window.

Two guards began mocking the mutants. Her shoulder sank a little, weren't they supposed to be guests here?

Finally, she felt the footsteps of Alex approaching.

She glanced up when he sat heavily down ln the arm of her chair. Lila passed him his leather jacket she had taken off, watching as he shrugged it back on.

The others spoke about the guards harassment as Lila stared up at Alex and Alex stared down at Lila.

"What're you thinkin' about?" he husked quietly as to not interrupt the other conversation.

"I was thinking about how stupid of a game pinball is," she rose a brow. Alex huffed a surprised laugh, usually she wasn't so blunt.

"You jealous, doll face?" he leaned forward over her.

"When you're cooped up with someone all day every day and then let loose, it's a little bit weird," she puffed her cheeks out

He nodded in agreement.

"I know what you mean," they both looked at the new friends they'd made today.

"You're not going to pick a new best friend over me right?" she asked sarcastically. Although, part of her was serious.

"I'd be dumbass to do that," he rose his brows at her. She reached up for his hand and he didn't hesitate to link their fingers together.

Just as the two tuned back into the conversation, all of them heard a loud thud behind the closed curtains of the large window.
