The dark alleys, the smell of car exhaust, the concrete floors. Most animals would want to get out here. I on the other hand, this is my home. It may be hard to live here, but as long as I have my family with me, I don't need anything else.
I had my brother pinned to the ground, we were playing another one of our "wolf" games, this game we were protecting each other's 'territory'.

"Get off my territory you rogue!" I growled.

"Get off me! Your hurting me! Mom!" My brother whined. Lets just say my brother wasn't the toughest dog around.

"Now Ace get off your brother. You have to play more gentle." my mom said in her gentle voice.

"Yes mama" I said while giving my brother a hard stare. I wasn't thrilled of getting in trouble and always having my brother tattle on me. He could man up every once and a while.

"Come on Ace! Let's play another game!" My brother had begged me.

"Nope" I retorted. I wasn't going to fall for that puppy dog face he was giving me.

I started to walk away when I felt something soft on my ear. then my whole world went upside down.

"Well if you won't play with me I guess I'll have to make you play with me!". It was my brother,in case you haven't guessed.

"Well if you want to play, let's battle starting now!". I tossed him off me and I charged at him. He quickly dodged me, but I was quicker. Though when I turned around, he wasn't there. Before I could think he was on top of me again. We both started laughing and wrestled each other more and it stayed like that for the rest of the day.

Night came quicker than I thought. One minute I thought I was wrestling with my brother, the next minute boom! My mother tells us to come behind the dumpster, which was considered our home. It wasn't much but like I said before, if I have my family that's all I need. I'm happy if my family is happy.

"Come on you silly pups time to come in" my mother said.

"Ah mom, can't we play for a little longer?" My brother whined.

"Both of you have had enough time to play for one day, now come on. I have food for you two. Unless you just want me to eat it" my mother retorted.

"NO!!!" My brother and I shouted at the same time. We were so hungry. I could hear my stomach and I bet anyone else could from a mile away. I hadn't eaten at all today. All the play fighting I did also made me more hungry.

My brother and I quickly hurried behind the dumpster. My mother smiled at us as we walked by. I knew she was just messing with us. She would never actually not feed us.

My mom followed behind my brother, and quickly she gathered both of us with just a sweep of her tail and she curled us right up near her tummy.

"Now my darlings, you must settle down" my mother whispered to us. Well that was real easy, cause of all the things I did today with my family. My brother on the other hand of course, didn't agree with my thoughts.

"But I'm not tired!" He whined. As my mother tried to calm him down, I had let my mind wander into my little 'fantasy land' I liked to call it. I always liked to imagine myself in the forest. The trees had to be as big as the buildings that surrounded us. The ground was green with grass and soil. I could see a river with its clear water which you could practically see the bottom.

Then in the distance I heard a howl. That followed with more howls. It was the sound of a pack. My pack. They were all wolves. They came up to me and they wagged their tails and greeted me in happiness.

All I could think of was my 'fantasy land' and my family and I will be able to live there, forever. Just as my mom described in her stories, even though none of us had ever even seen a wolf or even seen a forest. Heck I've never even seen grass before. Before I could think of anything else sleep took over as I dreamed of one day, we will find a home.

I woke up to my mother and brother sleeping. I heard from the outside some sort of door slam.

I was about to walk out and investigate, when my mom flicked her tail right in front of me.

"You stay here, I'll go out. Watch your brother too okay?" My mother whispered in her defensive voice.

I thought for a sec, but then reluctantly nod. I wasn't going to get anything out of her. No matter how hard I would try, nothing would stop her.

She gave me a thankful nod and walked out. Only a few moments went by before I heard a yawn from beside me.

"Where's mom?" My brother asked, giving another yawn at me.

"She went out into the alley to go check something, she should be back soon" I replied.

Then the sound of a fierce bark filled the air. My brother and I looked at each other and at that moment we knew exactly what was happening.

"MOM!" We screamed in sinc.

It took me a few seconds before I realized I was running. It was almost like instinct. I felt like I was flying more than running. My stride was so long, I felt like I had wings and was just gliding over the ground.

I ran out into the alley to see something that I have never would of expected. I saw my mom growling at two humans. Her head had hung low to the ground as she snarled at the two creatures. She bared her teeth at them and ruffled her fur up to make herself look more intimidating.

The two humans on the other hand were as scary if not then more. They were all dressed in black. They had some sort of, I guess weapons in their hands. The human on the left had a rope in his hand. While the one in the right had some sort of weapon I've never seen.

I heard a gasping breath behind me followed by a thud. It was my brother who fell to the ground gasping for breath cause he ran so fast.

The two humans started walking closer and every step they took my mom growled louder, until she thought they came one step too close and pounced on the human on the left. She brought him down rather quickly and got a hold of his arm and she didn't let go. The human looked at the other human with fear and hope. The other human brought out the strange weapon and was aiming it right at my mom.

I stood in horror while my brother screamed "MOM WATCH OUT!".

Though everything went upside down when one of the humans tried to pick me up. I was hanging upside down, my head swaying to and fro.

'Sheesh' I thought 'has this guy ever held a dog before?'.

"Hey be careful with it. You don't want the mutt dead do you?" Questioned the other human.

The human who was holding me responded "ahhhhh it's fine.".

"Ummmmm I think you should let me uhhhhhh go?!" I say at the human but he doesn't respond.

I start moving around, trying to get out of the humans grasp. Though every time I tried to move, his grasp on my legs would just get tighter.

'Think Ace, what would Dad do?'I thought to myself. I always liked to think of my father, I never knew him but I always had this sort of image in my head on what he looked like.

Then it came to me. I would have to act dead. I relax all my muscles, lay my head back, half close my eyes and let my mouth hang open a little bit. The human lifted me up a little bit and examined me, he just shrugged his shoulders and kept walking.

'Well that worked out fine......... NOT!' I thought to myself. Man was an idiot. Idiot, Idiot, idiot. I just keep telling myself that. Until I see the trunk door open to the rear end of the car. It was huger than most cars and it was all white with just two doors near the front on the sides and two doors on the back end of the car. Inside there is a bunch of cheap cages stack high to the ceiling of the car. They were all old and have been clearly not cleaned out in a long time.

About half of the cages were full of dogs (mostly puppies) that were barking up a storm. There was also a strong scent of urine and feces in the car. I told you already, they obviously didn't clean it.

The human throws me in a cage right next to the door on the right. I'm the third cage from the bottom. There was a dog on top of me and one below me but no one beside me.

I thought to myself sarcastically 'fantastic'.

When I get thrown in I land on my head upside down. I mutter an ow under my breath and the cage door slams on me. Then the human walks out and shuts the car door and I feel the cages shaking. The car must of been starting.

Wait a minute.... I don't want to leave! I liked my home! I want to get out of here and be with my family. I stand on my two hind legs and look out the window. I was lucky cause where my cage was I could see everything out the window. I saw my mom lying motionless on the ground. Blood running all over her body. A tear falls from my eye. I start whining and look frantically everywhere searching for my brother.

I feel a bump from underneath my paws and look out the window to see what it was. My face turned from curiosity to horror from what I saw. A body laid in the road. A severe injury to the head and I instantly know who it is. It is my brother.

I start whining and paw frantically at the cage.

"No! This can't be happening! Please stop the car! BROTHER!!!" I scream as loud as I can buy I'll I get is a shut up by the humans up front.

I growl furiously at them. There responsible for this, for everything. They took everything from me. I will get my revenge. Though one question remains in my mind.

Where am I going now?

HELLO PEEPS! Sorry this took forever I know. Sorry! I'll try to be quicker next time. I'm still working on my other story still, though I don't know which one I'll work on next. I DONT own any of the pictures. They came from my little friend known as Google images XD. Also the pic shown at the beginning is Ace as a puppy.
