O K A Y
Point of View: Virgil, First Person
Timeline: Present Day
"Hey Pat," I knocked lightly on the door frame - Patton's door was already open. "Can... can I come in?" I asked hesitantly. Patton hadn't gotten up all day, and was still buried in fuzzy blankets and pillows.
"I dunno, can you?" Patton mumbled into one of his pillows, lying with his face turned away from me and surely messing up the alignment of his glasses.
I walked in, sitting down near the top of the bed. "Move over," I encouraged.
Patton shifted, leaving me with just enough room on the twin sized bed. I laid next to him, staring up at the ceiling. The technically we were allowed to paint the apartment, considering that we were only renting it, but the beige, tan color of the room really suited Patton really well, at least to me. I don't think that Patton had really wanted to change the room at all, unlike Roman and myself.
"How are you doing?" I murmured, gently nudging Patton with my elbow. I didn't know if Patton wanted to talk about not having a name or... I don't even know.
"Not good."
"You wanna talk about it?"
"Not really."
"Okay," I agreed. "But can I talk to you about something?"
Now I had Patton's attention. Patton twisted, facing me - concerned. "Of course," Patton encouraged. "What's wrong?"
I shook my head. "It's not me, it's... it's Roman."
Patton frowned, pushing up his glasses further on his nose. "What about Roman?"
"He's locked himself in his room, I'm really worried about him," I muttered.
"Why would he lock himself in his room?" Patton mused aloud. "I was the one without a name, not him. Why is he taking it so badly?"
"I'm not sure," I admitted. "But I think we both need to talk to him about it."
Patton nodded in agreement. "Hey, uh, Virgil?"
"Hm?"
"I... I've had some time to think about the whole... no name thing," Patton said quietly, avoiding my eyes. "But do... do you think there's a chance that it's a sign?"
My face twisted in confusion, not sure where Patton was going with this. "What do you mean?"
"I don't have name, you don't have a name..." Patton's voice trailed off, and I realized what Patton was getting at. "Do you think that it's a sign that we...?" he asked sheepishly.
Oh.
"Honestly, I've never really thought about it," I confessed. Patton and... me?
Patton opened his mouth, face flushing. "Sorry, I - I didn't mean - no, just forget that I said anything - "
"I'd be willing to give a try," I interrupted, surprising myself. "What's the worst thing that can happen? And maybe you're right, maybe it's a sign."
Patton sat up, blinking curiously down at me. "Wait, are you serious?"
"Of course I'm serious," I sat up with him, blushing a bit and nervous rubbing the back of my neck. "It was... a little unexpected, but I'd be willing to give it a try."
Patton blushed, trying to hide his grin. "Okay then. So we're boyfriends now?"
"Uh, yeah, I guess so," I blushed as Patton continued to stare at me. "What?" I asked after a while.
Patton laughed, still blushing. "Just realizing how pretty you are," he replied.
Maybe Patton was right...

"Sup Princey," I hovered in the doorway. "Can we come in?"
"Can't you see I'm working?" Roman spat at us and I blinked in surprise. Roman was sitting at his desk - which was uncharacteristically organized. Actually Prince's whole room was uncharacteristically neat, but I'd have to ask him about that later.
"We're just worried about you," Patton said, pushing the door open all the way and taking a couple cautious steps forward past me. "We just wanted to check up on you."
Roman sighed loudly, running a hand through his hair. "Look, I'm fine. I could be better, but I really don't need this little," Prince waved his hands at us. "Whatever this is."
"We just wanted to check up on you, you've been locked in here all week," I crossed my arms over my chest, leaning against the wall. "For all we knew, you were dead."
Roman rolled his eyes at that. "Now come on, you would've known that. Now why are you really here? I doubt that it's to check up on me," he said, eyes returning to his laptop.
"Why would you think that?" Patton seemed just as surprised at me. "We're your friends, we don't need an excuse to ask you how you're doing."
Roman sighed, closing his laptop and turning to face the both of us. "I'm not an idiot, Patton - please. If you really wanted to see how I was doing, you would've done it privately - not together. The fact that you guys tag-teamed me either means that you're doing an intervention in an attempt to get me to leave my room or you've got something to tell me. Personally, I think it's a little bit of both: you are both worried about me and you have something to tell me. So go ahead, spill, I have quite a bit of work to do and I'd like to get back to it."
Patton and I shared a glance.
"Ro... you don't sound like yourself," Patton said nervously. "Are you sure that you're okay?"
Roman sighed loudly, throwing his hands in the air. "If I had a penny for every time I've heard that in the past couple of months..."
"Stop doing that Princey - just answer the question, stop dancing around it," I gritted my teeth. "Are you okay or not?"
Roman's eyes glittered with something dark, something that Roman hadn't looked at me with for a long time. "What do you think?"
"I think that you aren't okay."
"Ah, and correct you would be. Now, when did you guys get together?"
I stopped breathing and Patton and I shared a frantic glance.
Roman sighed loudly again. "Once again - not an idiot, even if the both of you are determined to believe it. I have an eye for detail. Always have, even if I don't say anything. Now, how long have you guys been together?"
"A week," Patton answered, still a bit speechless. "We were going to tell you once you came out of your room..."
Roman waved a dismissive hand. "No worries. I'm happy for you guys."
"How did you know?" I asked.
Roman rolled his eyes. "Patton's fiddling with a ring, a promise ring I'm assuming considering that you are also fiddling with the same ring on your hand - rather than the zippers on the sleeves of your hoodie. You keep looking at Patton, waiting for him to say something. And you both look guilty, as if you had a shared secret so I put the puzzle pieces together. So congratulations, now is that all?"
"Uh, yeah, I guess," Patton stammered. "Are you okay with it?"
"Of course," Roman opened his laptop again. "Now, if you don't mind, I have an audition in the morning and I need to memorize my lines so..." Roman trailed off, looking at the both of us expectantly.
Wordlessly we both left Roman on his own, both a little stunned as we shut the door behind us.
"So we both agree that he's not okay, right?" Patton asked shakily.
I nodded.
"It was crazy... in his voice... he - he almost sounded like he was trying to act like... Logan?" Patton looked at me. "Did you notice?"
"Yeah, I noticed. Something is definitely wrong," I frowned at Roman's door. "We'll give him some space. And he hasn't gone to an audition in forever, perhaps that what he needs to shake himself out of... whatever this is?"
"Maybe," Patton agreed, but he looked doubtful. "I just want him to be okay..."
