The Truth
We live in a world more complex than we can comprehend but since we as humans are foolish, we don't desire to know what is beyond our own world. The universe holds secrets that are only revealed to those who are hungry for the truth, AKA me, ____. I'm the type of person to contemplate on life at midnight while wondering how humans verified the existence of the dinosaurs that I love so much. I just like to think and finding meaning behind every little thing. That's just how I am but people don't understand that. I wouldn't say I'm a loner but I have a highly exclusive circle of friends that I'm really close with, which is 2 people. What can I say? Not many people are willing to find answers to my questions and stay up all night, arguing about the supernatural beings. Because of my two best friends, my Philosophy classes aren't all that bad.
"Jeno, you're going the wrong way again. Class is this way." I yelled at him. Jeno has a terrible sense of direction and doesn't even know his way around campus, even though we've been here for 3 years. My friends and I have been together since the beginning of 9th grade and now, we're going to become seniors together.
"Changbeaniee!!!" Jeno spotted Changbin and yelled before tackling him into a hug. He let go after squeezing the life out of the poor guy 8nd rushed off to chill with his other friends. Of course, Changbin being Changbin, was dressed up in a black hoodie and tight pants matched with military boots. Black is just a convenient and functional color. You can wear black any season because it never goes out of style and we look like death because we face-time each other all night while watching anime (specifically Boku No Hero) together.
"How's life ____" Changbin calmly said. I shot him a weird look for a second. The same guy who was twerking to Wiggle Wiggle in the hallway is asking me how my life is and trying to act cool. Bitch please, I know something's up.
"Drop the act. What's going on?" I interrogated, staring him dead in the eye. He gulped and licked his lips a little before speaking.
"There's this guy I wanna be friends with. His name is Chan and he's a really good rapper but he hangs with the popular kids" he mumbled. Changbin was a shy and quiet type so it's hard for him to just approach people and talk to them out of the blue, especially if they're extroverted. Chan is definitely an extrovert. He is carefree and isn't afraid to randomly start rapping or tell stupid dad jokes. I've talked to him a few times. And by talked, I mean ask him to lend you one of his pencils in Algebra or tell him to stop looking at my answers on pop quizzes. He's a nice guy though, but he talks so goddamn much. He never ever shuts up. He's one of those annoying class clowns who say stuff for laughs.
"He's a good kid. You should talk to him." I encouraged. Changbin inhaled sharply before blowing an unexpectedly garlic esque puff of air. I grimaced as though I had just been kicked square in the face. Tossing him a half empty pack of gum, I shooed him away. He chuckled lightly and whispered a small reassurance for him and myself, chewing vigourously on the gum I gave him.
And there he went, awkwardly jogging over to the curly haired boy he wished to befriend. Me, being the supportive friend I am, watched from afar worriedly. Within seconds they were interacting as if they'd know each other since they were kids. I high-fived myself before leaving Changbin and going to the vending machine to get my daily dose of Hershey's.
I walked down the mysteriously quiet hallway. All I could hear with the rhythmic thud of my boots and the light tingling of the multiple key chains on my backpack. The lights began to dim slightly and flicker. I love horror and thrillers so this kind of scenario doesn't scare me at all. I continued walking with my head held up and a tiny spring in my step. Suddenly, someone tapped my shoulder and I turned around with my usual poker face, death-staring at the peasant who dared to touch me when I was in a good mood. "Jeez, chill. You don't need to stab me with your eyes." he said jokingly. He's actually quite good looking. He's got bleached hair and really dark eyes. His lips are really pink and his jawline is sharp enough to cut a bitch.
"What do you want?" I sighed. I can't be asked to waste precious Hershey's time on this annoyingly handsome guy who is trying to talk to me in an empty hallway.
"I want to make you an offer you couldn't resist." he started, smirking slightly.
"First, I need your name before I agree to anything." I've seen these types of situations in way too many thrillers. People stupidly agree to offers made by madly attractive people who end up being psychopaths or murderers and they end up dead. Nice try honey.
"I'm Taeyong. And you, my beautiful lady, are ____?" he kissed the back of my hand gently. He knows my name, which is hardly surprising since I get so many awards for Space Science research and science competitions.
"Ok, Taeyong, what is this 'offer I can't resist'?" I asked. This had better be a good offer.
"You're an inquisitive girl. I like that. So this offer I want to propose is going to sound really strange but I'll say it anyway. I, Taeyong, am willing to show you the world beyond this world." he smirked.
"I have to give you something in exchange right? That's how it goes. I'm not new to this 'offer and sacrifice' ordeal." I was genuinely interested at this point. All that I've dreamed about all my life could be revealed to me by this unknown boy who is willing to show me.
"Of course there is a catch, my wise lady. I can't really explain it now but I'll tell you the next time we meet. Will you think about it?" I nodded after he finished and turned to continue walking. I turned around less that a second later and the boy was gone. That is totally not creepy. I got the the machine, grabbed my chocolate and sprinted back to my next class since I was late. I had Mythology Class, one of the most extensive yet enlightening classes I chose this year. I'm really enjoying it and I get good grades and Mythology is one of my passionate subjects so I have a lot of fun learning about ancient beliefs. On my way, I stopped by my locker to get my stationary and textbooks for the lesson. As I picked my books, a card slipped out. It was about business-card sized and the paper was pure white. In the front was a name: Han. Sounds familiar for some reason. I pushed this aside and flipped the card. On the back, there was a small message, written in golden calligraphy, saying:
'Seek only the truth. You will acquire the secrets of the universe'
