under these waters
breaking the water's serene surface,
spluttering and choking on her own stupidity,
her hair tangled among reeds on the river bed,
her eyes bloodshot from the murky water as well as her saline tears,
she grasps onto the thin air around her for comfort.
her feet sink into the moss covered banks,
the green fungi embedding between her toes,
she shivers silently, her teeth creating choruses of crashing,
the silence around her is disorientating.
looking back at the river with a hazy memory,
she can still see him smiling on the other bank,
his features as still and beautiful as they had once been,
she smiles back.
she can still see the roses left to rot on the bridge,
people still remember him, but not nearly as frequently,
the weeks blended into years before her eyes,
and the black robes soon became coloured again.
she had tried to live his last moments again,
to become aquatinted with his killer that had stolen him,
but the icy water was too strong for her,
and she took the coward's route, leaving her sweet love.

I'm back! This was a pretty rubbish poem I know, but it was brought on by the song 'Never Let Me Go' by Florence + The Machine. It's about a girl who's love drowned, and she wants to feel closer to him by trying to drown herself but she can't.
