Chapter Twenty-Six

We are going to change a few things/time things here. Mainly Marvel movies (the date they were released bare with me here)

8:26 am

"Barry I told you, Eddie and I don't need to have 'bonding time' just because he's Iris's boyfriend." I said as Barry rolled his eyes, dragging me into the West house.

"It's not gonna kill you, Cora." Barry said. Even though he knew about me and Eddies future, he still wasn't afraid because he knew we would be together.

Barry shoved me into the living room, a scoff escaping my throat as Eddie walked out awkwardly from the kitchen.

"Eddie, hey. Listen, me and Joe are gonna head to S.T.A.R. Labs and get some more details on Wells, we probably won't be back for a while." Barry said as I talked at him, oppibg down on the couch.

"Oh yeah. That's uh. That's fine. Guess I'll just sit here and wait for Iris with Cora." Eddie said as I gave him an awkward smile.

In an instant, Barry was gone. And as I am known to not like to have a silence fill the room, I quickly spoke first. "So, how about a movie?"

"Sure. Anything new out yet?" Eddie asked as he sat down a little far away.

"Avengers Endgame was just released." I said with a gleam in my eyes as Eddue frowned.

"Avengers? Never seen any of the movies." At this, my mouth dropped to the floor.

"Oh. My. God. That's it we are watching all four movies. You better get comfortable, Eddie because the next 10 hours are going to be the best of your life." I said as Eddie gave me a nervous look as I stood up, quickly setting up the first avengers movie.

☀︎︎

8 hours later...

"Peter no!" Eddie said through a cry as I forced back my tears, holding a tissue in my hand as we watched Peter fall into Tony's arms before he was snapped away.

"He's just a kid..." Eddie said as he sniffed, wiping away his tears as the door swung open, revealing Iris.

"Hey gu-"

"SHHHH!" Eddie said, putting a finger to his lips as he shot a look at Iris, who's mouth quickly shut.

"O...Kay.." Iris muttered as Eddie went back to crying.

"Thanos just sucks." Eddie said as I wiped my eyes, nodding as the credits started to roll. "Next one! Endgame!" Eddie said as I stifled a laugh, shaking my head.

"Sorry Eddie. We will have to hold off until tomorrow. I'm beat and Barry needed me at the lab 20 minutes ago." I said as Eddie frowned.

"Well. I have to say it was fun watching g these movies with you. Don't cancel on me tomorrow." Eddie said as I chuckled, shaking my head.

"Wouldn't miss it." I waved goodbye to the couple as I quickly grabbed my coat, trying to run as fast as I could to S.T.A.R. Labs.

In all honesty, I wish I had stayed home and watched it with Eddie.

☀︎︎

"B-Barry... H-hey.." I said through gasps of air as I collapsed in the middle of the Cortex, heaving for oxygen. "Why do... You have to.. live so far from here?" I asked with a cough as Barry looked down at me with worry.

"Are you okay?" Barry asked as I slowly shook my head, gulping for air.

"No. I couldn't get a taxi until I got to the city, and then they said they wouldn't drop me off here so I had to run again!"

I said as Joe, Cisco and Cairlin entered. "That was really stupid what the four of you did last night. Goin in that. . . Time vault thing." Joe said as I frowned. Barry cleared his throat, earning a glance from me as he scratched and pointed at his neck.

Frowning again, my eyes widened as I heard Cisco make a really girly silent squeal, my hand snatching up to my neck as my face burned as red as Barry's suit, while he in fact, smirked.

I pulled my hair in front of my neck, hiding the hickies before anyone else could see, Cisco's face beaming as he looked between Barry and I.

"Cisco, if you don't shut up about this Carry ship., FOR FIVE MINUTES." I whisper yelled into his ear as his face dropped to a frown when we continued to listen to the conversation.

"Okay, I know we've seen a lot this past year. . . But time travel?" Caitlin said as Barry shrugged.

"I did it." Barry said before he earned his throat again. "Or, I will do it." I frowned at Barry as I tried to get into his mind.

"Stop trying to read my mind, Cora. Or I'll start thinking about something you don't want to hear or see." Barry said as he kept his face straight while my eyes widened, darting them away from Barry.

"One of the two speedsters in Barry's house the night his mother died was Barry. I mean, The Flash. He was there. Which means that one day in the future, Barry will travel back in time to that night."Joe said as I nodded my head in understanding.

"actually, I wasn't talking about that." Barry started as we all turned to him. "I kind of already time traveled, by accident." My mouth dropped open as Cisco froze, trying to process everything.

"I was running to try and stop a tsunami from hitting the city-"

"When was this, Barry?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Right when you got out of your coma." He answered quickly as my eyes widened.

"That was a month ago. Right when Cisco started getting his dreams."I muttered as Caitlin and Cisco nodded.

"Oh, you mean the ones where Wells uses his super-speeding hand to shred apart me and Cora's hearts?" Cisco said sarcastically as I frowned while Barry slowly nodded.

"What if they're not dreams." I suggested as everyone turned to me with a frown. "What if Cisco is dreaming about the other time line where Wells kills. . . Me and him." I said the last part quietly as I saw Barry's hands flinch, like it scared him to hear those words.

"I'm still not following." Cisco said as I frowned.

"All right, what if, that day, Cisco found out that Wells is the Reverse-Flash, and then Wells killed him? But when I ran back a day, I changed the timeline so that event never happened. If it never happened, how can Cisco remember it?" Barry asked as everyone started to nod, now following along.

"I don't know, I don't know." Cisco said as Cailtin smirked.

"I think the important thing is he does."she said as Cisco stared at the floor.

"Guys I have a really bad idea." I said as I turned to Joe, who was staring ahead at nothing, as if recalling a terrifying memory.

"Joe?" I said, but he didn't respond, which got everyone's attention.

"Joe!"  Barry called out, snapping his foster dad out of the trance. "are you listening?" Barry asked as Joe rubbed his chin, nodding as they all turned to me.

"Somewhere in Cisco's subconscious is the previous time line. We need to access it."

"Somewhere in there is the key." Barry said as Joe frowned at him.

"Key to what?"

"Key to getting Barry's dad out of prison." I said with a smile as we a headed off to Cisco's little workshop.

☀︎︎

"So, this will allow Cisco to see into his dream?" Joe asked as I smiled, nodding while holding a pair of glasses.

"Caitlin got the idea from a journal article on lucid dreaming. I came up with the design, and built them." I said with pride as I heard Cisco chuckle.

"They think they can use it to help people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder." Caitlin said as Cisco scoffed.

"Traumatized and stressed? Check and check." He said with a rolls of his eyes.

"The theory is that it will allow people to objectively enter their dreams and face their fears." Caitlin said.

"Still working on the talking part." I added as Caitlin pressed her lips together, nodding.

"And you're sure this isn't gonna, you know, mess up my brain?" Cisco asked as I gave a reassuring pat on the head.

"Oh, the amount of electricity required to trigger lucid dreaming is harmless." I said with a smile as Caitlin gave a not so sure look.

"Probably." She muttered as Cisco's eyes widened.

"Whose going to be lucid dreaming?" Everyone jumped as Dr. Wells rolled into the room, my heart racing as everyone stuttered.

"W-with all the metas in Central City, people have been seeing some strange things... things they don't understand." I said as everyone quickly nodded.

"And it's really just a matter of time before psychological issues develop. And lucid dreaming will help the doctors better understand their fears." Caitlin said as Wells hummed.

"Intriguing. Of course, you still need to guide the patient  from the outside, right? Direct them to specific aspects of the dream." He asked as I nodded.

"We're still working on a communications interface." I said as Wells shrugged.

"When we dream, the middle brain lights up with electrical activity, whereas the higher brain remains dormant. Once we find a way to make both parts of the brain active, then it's just a matter of finding the frequency that will stimulate the language center. Then the dreamer could speak. They could describe his or her dream." Dr. Wells said as everyone slowly nodded whilst listening.

"I would try a frequency of 45 hertz to start." He said with a smile as Caitlin forced one.

"Thank you, Dr. Wells." I said with the best fake smile I could muster as he nodded once.

"Well, you never cease to impress me, Cora." I said as I hid my squirm while he strolled out.

"As I've said before. . . ᵗʰᵉʸ ˢᵉᵉ ᵐᵉ ʳᵒˡˡⁱⁿᵍ, ᵗʰᵉʸ ʰᵃᵗⁱⁿᵍ." I said quietly as everyone snickered.

"Where's Barry? Shouldn't he have been here by now?" I asked as everyone shrugged.

"He's still at the lab. Should be here soon." Joe said as I pressed my lips into a fine line, nodding.

After going over the plan one more time for Cisco, we finally got him ready when Barry walked in. "It's about time. Maybe for your birthday I should get you a damn watch." I said as he silently apologized.

"Is this Inception or Dreamscape?" Cisco said as I rolled my eyes.

"More Dreamscape than anything." I said as I took a small cup from Joe. "Drink this." I ordered as Cisco frowned.

"What am I, five?"

"Cisco. Drink it before I force it down your throat." I said with a scold as I could momentarily hear Cisco pray in his mind before taking the cup, downing it in one go.

"The glasses are emitting a low-level delta wave which should help you fall asleep." Caitlin said as I put the glasses on Cisco.

"I got to warn you, though, usually it takes me a long time. I mean...  I'm not saying I'm, like... an insomniac or any-" Cisco's head dropped as he started to snore, causing me and Joe to chuckle.

"Ah, so that's how you get him to shut up." He said with a cackle as I snickered.

"Cisco, can you hear me?" Barry asked as there was silence for a few moments.

"Woah, guys this is mad freaky." Cisco said as Barry couldn't help but chuckle. "Caitlin just took Dr. Wells to Jitters. I don't know why. I thinks it's because I think he tampered with my work."

"Okay, where are you?" I asked as Cisco hummed in thought.

"Um.. I'm in the cortex. I mean I'm dreaming that I'm in the cortex but, it just feels so real." Cisco answered as I looked to Barry, whose hand had snaked around mine.

"Okay, I'm heading to the bunker. Cora just called and said Barry would drop her off there any minute." Cisco continued as I felt my heart start to pick up the pace.

"Oh man, I loved this shirt! I thought the dryer ate it." Cisco said as I laughed, feeling Barry squeeze my hand as he laughed too.

"Now I'm running tests on the containment system. This data... It doesn't make any sense. All the supercapacitors... They were all still fully charged. There's absolutely no reason that the Man in Yellow should have escaped." Cisco said as I frowned.

"Oh my god. It was a hologram. Cora just showed up." Cisco said as my heart skipped a beat from fear.

"Oh god, Wells is here." I didn't realize until then that I was practically breaking Barry's hand from how hard I was squeezing it, my body now melting into his.

"It's okay." Barry muttered into my ear as I nodded, holding back the fearful tears.

"Eobard Thawne." Cisco said as I frowned.

"Like Thawne? As in Eddie Thawne?" I asked but no one answered.

"Cora is asking him about Nora. Oh my god Barry he's confessing." Cisco said as a beam of hope left Barry.

"He-he didn't want to kill her. He wanted to kill you, Bar- oh my god. Oh my god!" Cisco's heart started to pick up the pace, gradually.

"His hands are vibrating. He's going to kill me and Cora!" Cisco said as I saw a small tear leave his cheek.

"It's just a dream Cisco!" I reassured as I grabbed his hand.

"CORA! He killed Cora!"  I felt my heart stop as fear washed over me, Barry's arms pulling me into a hug as I just stood there, frozen.

"Guys his heart rate is increasing he's going to have a stroke!"  Caitlin said as Joe started to take action.

"Pull him out!" Caitlin ripped off the glasses from Cisco, who immediately shot up, screaming as his hand slapped across his chest, tears flooding his eyes.

"Cora? Where's-" Cisco's eyes caught mine as I forced back tears. He jumped off the bed as Barry released me, letting Cisco pull me into a giant hug as he cried into my shoulder.

"We are never doing this again." Cisco said, putting his foot down as we all nodded whilst Barry's phone started to ring.

"Guys. . . It's Wells. He said a fire erupted at Bradford Tower High-Rise." Barry said as Joe's eyes widened.

"Captain Singhs Fiancée works there. Go!" Joe said.

And just like that, Barry was gone.
