Chapter Twenty-Nine
I sat in my apartment, staring at my hands, which had been back to normal since I left S.T.A.R. Labs, where I left Iris.
Now she knows I'm a meta. Perfect.
I scoffed loudly, rolling my eyes. SHES probably somewhere with her dad yelling at him about not telling her about Barry, saying how "I could have helped you guys."
She's going to make herself team leader, isn't she? Yeah I'm not letting that happen. Barry chooses who the team leader is. And I have a feeling it'll be Cisco or me.
Iris has no right. I love her, but she can't throw herself into something we've been doing perfectly for a year without her.
I felt my hands burn, watching as they turned from white to red.
There was a rush of wind, my hands returning to normal as quickly as they appeared. "Barry knock next time!" I said as I slammed my hands down.
"Sorry. It's just um. . . Iris said you got angry at her." I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms.
"'Course she did. I have every right to be angry at her. She shouldn't be mad at you because you kept being the Flash from her. You did it for a good reason, she needs to understand that."
"That's not what I meant. She said that-" I cut Barry off again.
"She said what? That, I have known you for less, and that you trusted me with your secret?" I said as Barry closed his mouth. I got my answer.
"Of course she said that. You know, I care about Iris and her safety, but I have more experience in the medical and science field than she does. She writes a blog about you, Barry." I said with a glare out the window. I didn't dare to look at Barry. I didn't want him to see how angry I was at the girl he lived with since he was 11.
"Cora. She could help us-"
"No she can't Barry! Iris got in the way several times. She put herself at risk for her blog. For fucks sake, she almost got herself killed once!" I yelled before my eyes widened, slapping a hand over my mouth as Barry's mouth dropped.
"She what?!"
"Jesus, Barry. She nearly got herself killed trying to figure out how Danton Black multiplied. I had to go out and save her because you were in Starling talking to Oliver!" I said as Barry ran a hand through his hair.
"Barry. For the sake of Iris's safety, keep her away from STAR Labs. She's just going to end up getting killed." I repeated for what felt like the thousandth time.
I was tired of telling everyone Iris was just putting herself in more danger. Barry sighed, dropping his head as he nodded.
"Look. I'm sorry I'm being harsh about Iris and making it sound like I hate her at the moment, but I'm doing it because I know you love her-"
"As a sister." Barry said as I rolled my eyes.
"You know what I mean. I'm only being harsh because I care about her to and don't want her putting herself in danger." I said as I walked up to Barry, wrapping my arms around his neck, his hands instinctively gripping my hips.
"I know. I know." He said as I looked into his eyes, forcing a weak smile. I rolled onto the tips of my toes, giving Barry a peck on the lips before resting my head on his shoulder.
Barry's phone rang, quickly answering it. "I just got a call from Joe. The Central City Gold Reserve is about to transport $300 million in gold bars to their Coast City vault." Barry said as my eyes widened.
"Do you think the man in the Mask is gonna try and go for it?" I asked as Barry shrugged.
"I-I dont know. But we-" Barry leaned down, giving me a long kiss before bolting to the door. "Will finish that later." Before he left, Barry gave me a quick wink, zooming over and grabbing before dashing out of my apartment.
I was now sitting in the Cortex in front of the monitors, startling Cisco as his fries flew everywhere.
"Man my fries!" Cisco said with a glare as I shrugged. "Woah! The truck just got hit with a land mine!" Cisco said as my eyes widened.
"Is joe okay?!" I asked as he nodded.
"Guys, get to the meta prison. We got a new inmate." Barry said as I turned to Cisco and Caitlin, who were already on their way down.
"Wait for me! I have small legs dammit!" I yelled as I chased after them.
Already in their, Caitlin was pulling a bullet out of General Wade Eilings shoulder. What confused everyone is that he didn't even flinch.
"What the he- AH!" Something in Eiling's mind triggered, causing him to tackle me to the ground and wrap his fingers around my throat. "B-BARRY!" I coughed out as everyone ripped Eiling off of me.
I inhaled deeply, coughing for air as I held my throat, Barry's hand in the small of my back as he helped me up. "A-Are you okay?" He stuttered as I nodded.
"What the hell was that about?" Cisco said as he threw Eiling into the square room. Now the General was just standing there, staring ahead like nothing happened.
"I don't know, but my life flashed before my eyes." I said as I rubbed my throat, Barry's hand rubbing up and down my back. Some comfort was brought to me as he did so.
"You all saw me pull out that bulletin. He didn't even flinch until he saw Cora." Caitlin said as I crossed my arms.
"What did I do to deserve it? Last time I met Eiling was when we met Plastique." I said as Cisco looked down. He was still hurt with Bette's loss.
"I just got off the phone with ARGUS." Joe said as he walked in. "Officially, Eiling is on administrative leave."
"Unofficially?" I asked with a raised brow as I slowly turned to Eiling, waiting for a response from anyone.
"I spoke to Diggle's wife, Lyla. She says Eiling has been missing for the past three months." Joe answered as I turned to him.
"Well. The last time we saw this brain dead general was when we got Ronnie and Barry broke Professor Stein out of that really cold. . . Damp . . . Dark military facility." I said as I frowned. Everyone gave a "yeesh" look as they remembered the occurence.
"So where as he been since then?" Joe asked as we all shrugged. I once again turned to Eiling, stepping forward.
"Cora what are you doing?" Barry asked, a wary tremble in his voice.
"General? Why were you trying to rob the gold reserve?" I asked, looking him dead in the eyes. But, instead of looking back at me, he stared straight ahead and over me.
"Maybe he's in some kind of trance?" Caitlin hypothesized as I shrugged.
"Do you remember me?" Barry asked, getting the General's attention. I grunt escaped the General.
"Flash." He growled, everyone's eyes widening.
"Well. That's new." I muttered. I didn't think the General knew Barry's hidden alter ego.
"H-How does he know Barry's the Flash?" Cisco asked as everyone shrugged, their shoulders shaking.
"Considering he didn't look at Barry and now you said 'Barry' and 'Flash' in the same sentence, he now probably got the idea." I said as Cisco made a disappointed face to himself, realizing the mistake he just made.
"General-" I said quietly before Eiling cut me off.
"Eiling not. Here." Eiling said as I frowned, looking over at Cailtin who shrugged.
"DID?" I wondered as she nodded her head.
"Eiling. Bad." He bellowed.
"Maybe it's some kind of psychotic break presenting itself as dissociative identity disorder." Caitlin said as I turned back to Eiling.
"Catilin. Caitlin. Good." He bellowed as Caitlin's eyes widened.
"Oh. Well. . . Thank you." She said before Eiling finally made eye contact with me.
"You guys have seen the Exorcist right? Where's the closest church?" I asked as Eiling turned to face me, causing me to freeze up.
"Cora.Good." Eiling growled as I stepped back, frowning.
"Oh. Okay?" I asked, finding myself to be just as confused as everyone in the room. I
"He seems to be responding to you and Cora,, Caitlin." Cisco said as Caitlin turned to Eiling.
"W-Why is Eiling bad?" Caitlin asked as Eiling pretty much scoffed.
"Eiling hurt me. I. Hurt. Eiling." He said as I furrowed my brows.
"Who are you?" I asked, going to take a step forward, but Barry held me back.
"I. Am. Grodd. Fear. . . Me."
