With a pencil, I trace the outlined bruise on my arm as I sit in Allison's car, with Lydia in the front me in the back seat once again. I then lean forward and connect me and Lydia's arms together, I see a pattern. There's something there... I just don't what it is.
"I don't know. It doesn't look like much to me." Lydia said and pulled her arm away from mine. I exhale, the boys were going to Stiles' childhood friend's birthday party, which I was okay with as long as Stiles' doesn't kiss another girl. Then I'm totally chilled with the people there.
"It's a pattern. It means something." I said.
"You two really think Scott's gonna know what it is?" Lydia asks, and I nodded. If it was anyone, it would either be Stiles or Scott. Stiles has the brains, he'll know something.
"No, but he might know someone who does." Allison said as she continues to drive to that party.
"How are you guys so sure it means anything at all?" Lydia glances at us.
"Because that girl wasn't just looking for Scott. It's like she needed to find him." I told Lydia. "Like she had to- and I don't know if it's just me, but that screams, it means something." Lydia rolled her eyes at me.
"All right then."
I, Allison, and Lydia stand outside the girl's Heather's house. We stand there, waiting for Scott and eventually, he comes out of the house. He walks towards us, in confusion.
"This isn't the talk we were gonna have, was it?" Scott asks Allison. Oh, they were gonna talk... oh, they were going to talk. Allison shakes her head softly.
"We need to show you something." Allison started, before Lydia and I glance at each other, and we pulled up our selves and pressed our wrists together.
✢
"I don't see anything." Derek spoke as Lydia and I had shown our bruises, we were in an English room with the doors closed at school. Derek still didn't like Lydia and Allison... and I feel like he doesn't like me either.
Stiles sits on a desk, and Scott stands next to Derek. "Look again." Scott told Derek, and Derek sighed.
"How is a bruise going to help me find where Boyd and Erica are?" Derek asked.
"It's the same on both side." I pointed out, and Derek glared at me.
"Excatly the same." Scott added.
"It's nothing." Derek told us harshly, oh, my god, what will it take with this guy?
"Pareidolia." Lydia scoffed. "Seeing patterns that aren't there. It's a subset of apophenia."
Derek looked over at Scott. "They're trying to help." Scott whispers.
"These two?" Derek scoffs at Allison and Lydia. "This one, who used me to resurrect my psychotic uncle. Thank you, and this one, who shot about 30 arrows into me and my pack."
"Okay, all right, now, come on. No one died, all right? Look, there may have been a little maiming, okay, a little mangling, but no death." Stiles told us. "That's what I call an important distinction."
"My mother died." Allison whispers, Derek didn't kill her. Their family code did.
"Your family's little honor code killed your mother. Not me." Derek snapped.
"That girl's looking for Scott, I'm here to help him, not you." Allison bites back.
"You wanna help?" Derek leans forward. "Find something real." Derek then turned around, and left, Scott walked up to catch him up.
I bite down on my lower lip, Stiles saw this action and walked over to me. He then swings an arm around my shoulder and kisses my forehead. I just want to help.
✢
"I want one." Lydia said, starring off into the distance where the two boys had just come in. The twins. Still, don't like them. I looked back down at the sketching that I was doing, I was drawing out the two bruise marks that the girl had given me. I know it means something, I'm not going crazy.
Allison looked behind her. "Which one?" Allison smiled.
"The straight one, obviously," Lydia said. How the hell can she tell one's gay and one's not? Lydia then sips her cup of coffee, my laptop was out and I looked at the coffee cup. What if... what if the two bruises weren't a symbol... what if it's actually a logo?
"What if it's... not a symbol? What if it's actually a logo?" I asked, looking up from the cup to see that Lydia was gone, I looked behind me and saw that she was talking to one of the twins. I turn to Allison. Allison nodded.
"Here," Allison grabs the laptop off me, and she starts to type. "Let's look for Beacon Hills logos, maybe we might find something here."
✢
"Are you ready yet, Stace?" Allison asked over the phone as I had exited the house, locking the door behind me. We had found something, it was an old bank- the bruise was an old bank. "Cause I'm pulling in right about..." I turn around and saw Allison pull in at the driveway, she smiled. "Now."
"Yeah, I'm coming." I told her and hang up on her, I then walk over to her car and I opened the door. "You ready for a little adventure?"
"I'm more than ready,"
✢
We arrived the abandoned bank, Allison looking around for any sign of danger while I walked over to the door and I had clippers. I purse my lips together once the chain was broken, and I looked over to Allison.
"Allison, let's go." I whisper over to her, and she came running towards me. She walked to my side and I exhale, and I pushed opened the door. We sneak inside and I put down the clippers.
Allison and I stay close to each other, as we looked around this big space. It was filled with abandon things, like desks, paper, anything. We link our arms together, something might just jump out at us- you never know.
Lots and lots of abandon things were tipped over, I couldn't see what they were. But this place gave me a bad vibe. The only light formed was through the cracks of the ceiling, from the sun. I keep turning my head towards the back, my heart was pounding. And not the way when I'm around Stiles- but in a really bad way.
We walk down a long and empty hall. I let go of Allison slowly, feeling less scared. I almost screamed when someone came up behind Allison and I, but Allison with her defending skills blocked all the women's punches at throws. I don't know how to defend myself. Allison was pushed against the wall, and my eyes widen, and soon I was pushed against the wall next to Allison.
My eyes widen further when I saw it was my old guidance counselor, Ms. Morrell. What the hell is she doing here? Did she follow us? Is she going to kill us? Oh dear lord... I really hope she won't kill us. I really don't feel like being killed.
"Ms. Morrell?" I gasp, as she pushed me even further into the wall, don't ask me how that was possible- but it just was. My breaths grew heavier, she glanced between me and Allison with a stern face- I've never seen her give me that look before.
"Keep your mouth shut, and listen close." Ms. Morrell snaps at me and Allison, I close my eyes and I nodded, before opening my eyes. "You two have no idea what you just stepped into, right now you've got maybe 20 seconds to get your asses hidden."
"What are you doing?" Allison asks, what does she mean we have 20 seconds to hide our asses? Actually, do I really want to know?
"Get in the storage closet over there." Ms. Morrell instructed. "Lock the door. When you hear the fighting start, that's when you come out."
"What fighting?"
"You'll hear, just go!" Ms. Morrell snaps and lets us go. Allison and I looked at each other before Ms. Morrell springs down the hallway. Allison then leads the way to the storage closet, and she opens the door, and she shuts it when I come in after her.
The storage room was dark and small... I hate this. So much. Allison tried to switch on the light, but it wouldn't even flicker for us.
That's when I hear the sound of a small clicking sound like a stick tapping on the ground, and Allison moves away from the door, and into the corner. I follow her, and we listen. I held my hand over my mouth to try and stop me from breathing so loudly.
Allison then tips over the ammonia liquid, possibly to hide our scent. Maybe. The liquid spills all on the ground but it doesn't go out the door- thank god. Allison then takes off her cardigan and lays it on the floor where the liquid was split.
I got out my phone, and I turned on the flash. I shine it around the room slowly, taking in what's really in here. I then shine my torch over to the corner and I gasped really loudly, covering my hand over my mouth and jumped back.
Lying dead there was Erica herself. Oh, Derek is not going to like this. Allison looked over at me, her eyes widen. She linked her arms with me, covering her mouth also.
Soon, I can hear fighting. I hear loud groans, and not just any groans- Scott's groans, my own brother's groans. This sounds totally crazy but I know it's him. Allison and I looked at each other when you hear the fighting that's when you come out.
Allison opens the door, and we both exit the closet room and move to the empty doorway. "Come on, we need to find Scott." I breathe, and Allison nodded, and we both walk quickly down the hallways.
✢
Allison and I breathe heavily as we stand outside the small room where Derek and Scott were, there was Boyd in there too... and another girl. I looked at the ground and saw that the outline was made of mountain ash.
"Look out!" Allison cries out, and Scott pulled by Boyd who had thrown Scott into a wall, then into another wall and Scott cringed. I cringed. The girl went for Derek, who had defended himself quite well.
If we don't break it the mountain ash... Scott's going to be seriously injured. As soon as I thought that, Boyd had dug his claws into Scott's stomach, and a little part of me had shattered. Boyd had pulled up Scott from the ground, against the wall.
Allison then bends, she's going to break the seal. "No! Don't break the seal!" Derek yelled at Allison, I looked up and saw Boyd roaring at Scott.
"Boyd!" I yelled at Boyd, who snapped his head in my direction and Allison had broken the mountain ash, Boyd lets go of Scott and Scott collapsed to the ground, the girl and Boyd had run off, past us.
Derek had then grabbed ahold of Allison and I, his hand gripping around our wrists. "Don't touch them!" Scott screamed at Derek, walking towards us with his hand on his stomach.
"What were you two thinking!?" Derek snapped at us, and lets go of our wrists.
"That I had to do something." Allison snapped right back.
"They saved our lives." Scott defended.
"Yeah, and what do you think they're going to do out there?" Derek asked Scott, more like yelled. "Do you have any idea what we just set free!?"
"You want to blame us!" I yelled back. "Well, we're not the ones turning teenagers into killers!"
"No, no. That's just the rest of Allison's family," Derek spat.
"I've made mistakes." Allison softly said. "Gerard is not my fault."
"And what about your mother?" Derek shoots at her.
"What do you mean?"
Derek looked over at Scott, wait. Hasn't Scott told Allison the reason? "Tell her, Scott," Derek told Scott.
"What does he mean, Scott?" Scott didn't reply. "What does he mean?"
