Chapter 7: Warriors

"Don't ever think that the reason I'm peaceful is because I don't know how to be violent."

                                                                                                         -Anonymous

Hoseok's golden-brown eyes were narrowed in confusion and shock as he stomped away from the bathhouse, nostrils flaring in panic as his hands began to shake at his side.

He was screaming on the inside, feet moving at a quick pace, trying to get away from you. He was scared-shocked.  If he had known you were The Oracle he would never have allowed you to touch him.

When he first entered the bathhouse, he assumed that Jungkook was simply assaulting yet another young maid of the palace.. .so he helped you by shooing the perverted Emperor away.

He thought that he was just preforming a simple act of kindness, but the second your fingers brushed over his, he was forced to sit and watch as his terrible past played out before him...a past he had long tried to forget... a past filled with only horror and bloodshed.

He had never been superstitious...He always kept to himself, trying his hardest to keep his distance from other people. He never once believed the stories his mother would tell him of the Oracle and how her blue eyes were able to see the past of anyone she touched....But now, there was no more denying it.

He took a deep breath, running a hand through his black hair and tugging at it harshly.

"Hoseok!"

He groaned at the sound of your voice as you rushed after him. He didn't even bother to question how you knew his name...You were the Oracle after all.

"Stay away from me." He ground out as you finally caught up with him, feet struggling to match his pace as you walked side-by-side.

You were breathing heavily as you tied the silk robe you were wearing, making sure the knot was tight and secure before leaving it to hang limply.

You frowned at his response, heart beating at an unusually fast pace.

You didn't know what was going on...You didn't know why you saw what you did, and you didn't know why Hoseok was suddenly so tense and cold towards you...especially after he had been so nice in the bathhouse....but you supposed you could understand...

You invaded his privacy....even if you didn't mean to...you saw things that you knew he didn't want anyone else to see...and you couldn't blame him. If you were in his shoes, you wouldn't want anyone to be diving into your past either.

"I'm sorry, okay?" You spoke with heavy breaths. "I didn't do it on purpose."

Hoseok scoffed, his legs picking up the pace as he desperately tried to get away from you.

"Leave me alone." He spat. "I want no part in your....magic."

You frowned at his words, robes shuffling behind you as you sped up.

"Listen," You huffed as you grabbed his arm, forcing him to stop in his tracks as you turned him to face you. "What happened in your past, that's your business and I am not going to even ask about it."

He rolled his eyes, jerking his shoulder away from your touch.

"Stop it." He said bluntly. "You just stay far away from me and we will not have a problem."

You crossed your arms, taking a step closer to him.

"Why are you following me?" He asked angrily, eyes darting back to look at you for a brief moment.

You frowned.

"Hoseok," The use of his name caused his eyebrows to shoot up. "When I touched you....I saw alot of things...things that neither of us want to talk about.....but you know what else I saw?"

He sighed, shaking his head.

"No." He said. "And I don't care. You had no right to-"

"I saw a warrior." You stated. "I saw someone who didn't take any side-ways remarks, I saw someone who didn't need a weapon to defend himself."

He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, watching as you ran a hand through your hair.

"And?" He asked.

You were extremely nervous about saying your next words...clearly, he didn't want to talk about anything to do with...what happened and you couldn't blame him....but from what you saw, he knew how to fight...he could hold his own in hand-to-hand combat, and that seemed like a skill you would find use for.

"I-" You paused taking a deep breath. "I want you to teach me how to fight."

Hoseok let out a scoff at your request, his head shaking instantly

"No." He deadpanned. "Absolutely not."

You frowned, bottom lip sticking out.

"Why not?"

He sent you a glare, stepping closer to you.

"Because that is not me anymore." He stated. "That man you saw, that-that monster...It's not me. I have worked hard to put all of that behind me and I am not about to drag my past back up for some stranger."

You huffed out in annoyance.

You were expecting him to say no....but you really hoped that he wouldn't.

You needed his help.

You were tired of constantly being cornered by bigger, stronger men with hardly any way to defend yourself...You hated feeling like a weak woman...you wanted to be able to defend yourself...especially after Jungkook's words in the bathhouse.

"I know you don't know me," You sighed. "I know that you have absolutely no reason to help me....but I need this...I need to be able to protect myself from people like....."

"Jungkook?"

You nodded your head, eyes raising to meet his.

"Exactly." You breathed. "I don't want me here anymore than you do...and if there was someone else who could teach me....I would ask...but Jimin is a pervert and you're the only one with the ability to teach me."

"Ability to teach you?" Hoseok repeated. "How would you know that? All you got was a few flashes of my past. That's it. You do not know me. You do not know who I am or what I have endured...I cannot teach you and even if I could...I wouldn't."

"Why not?" You questioned.

He groaned in annoyance.

"Because that is a dangerous path for anyone to take...Trust me, I know...Besides, you won't need to defend yourself not when you are too busy with the Emperor to even leave your bed chambers."

You raised your eyebrows at his words, tongue poking the inside of your cheek, a habit you had picked up from your former best friend. You were already annoyed and stressed enough by Jungkook's actions earlier...now he was just fanning the flames.

"Watch it." You warned, taking a step closer to him.

He rolled his eyes.

"I-"

"Shut up." You interrupted, shoulders moving as you let out a heavy sigh. "I tried to be nice to you....really I did, but I can see that you aren't going to fall for the "let's be friends" bull crap , so I will just be blunt with you."

Hoseok's eyebrows furrowed, his fists tightening as you continued.

"I don't care about you." You deadpanned. "I don't care about what happened in your past or why you're such a douchebag...I don't even care whether you like me or not...I have honestly been through too much drama and junk to even focus on anything like that... However, what I do care about is that you can fight...extremely well. I don't want to be your friend, I don't want to get to know you...I just want you to teach me how to defend myself. That's it. End of story."

The black-haired man swallowed hard, trying to contain his surprise at your blunt words and clipped tone.

Although you were a nuisance, your words struck a chord with him...He could respect a woman who knew what she wanted and said it..instead of beating around the bush and avoiding the subject until the last minute...

"Why do you wish to defend yourself?" He asked, lowering down to your eye level. "Won't you have guards for that when you are Empress?"

You rolled your blue eyes, crossing your arms.

"I'm not going to be Empress." You said swiftly, earning an eyebrow raise from the man before you. Your statement clearly shocked him more than you expected.

"But that is your destiny." He stated. "It was prophesied that you will marry the Emperor."

"I don't care." You said in a clipped tone. "I'm going to write my own story."

Your words cause a spark of adoration to settle in the bottom of Hoseok's stomach..He admired your bluntness and stubbornness..It was refreshing to watch you stand up for yourself and go against the grain.

"Do you think you can handle this?" He ground out. "You will have to work harder than you ever have in your entire life."

You scoffed, rolling your eyes, mind instantly going back to the two previous words you had been trapped in. You almost laughed at his question...If he only knew the things you had seen, the places you had been...He would not even consider asking such a question...to you, this was just another adventure waiting to happen...and that was exciting to you..

You knew it was going to take hard work and dedication, but you knew it would all be worth it in the end....after all, this wasn't the last world you were going to be sent to and you had no idea what other lands awaited you...it was best to always be prepared.

"Trust me." You smiled. "I can handle it."
