Chapter 33: Release II
"If you don't let it out, you're going to let it eat you away."
-Anonymous
Jimin's eyes were narrowed as he watched the young Emperor before him pace back and forth violently, mumbling incoherent words to himself as he raised his hand to his chin, eyes never leaving the ground.
The red-head had sneaked away from the palace after witnessing your and Hoseok's display of affection only a few hours prior. He had needed a place to go and clear his head...
What better place than Hunter's Forest?
He knew the place better than anyone else in the capitol, so he wasn't afraid of getting lost, even if he had zoned out while walking, his mind wandering back to what he had seen only a few hours ago.
He walked and he thought.
He didn't know what to make of what he had witnessed. He didn't think that you and Hoseok were in any sort of a relationship, after all, Yoongi was interested in you and had gone out of his way to prove it to you on more than one occasion.
But the way Hoseok held you...the way he looked at you had Jimin thinking that there was something far more going on...at least on his end.
The red-head was about to return to the palace when the silent sound of hushed voices caught his attention, causing his body to tense up.
His soldier instincts were quick to kick in, making him fully alert and ready for attack as he crouched down low, slowly making his way towards the voices that filled his ears.
But as he grew closer, the voice began to sound familiar...
His brows jumped as he took in the sight of the Emperor pacing frantically in the middle of the forest.
That's how he got here, now.
He could tell that the young ruler was distraught and frustrated as he spoke to himself, shaking his head between his slurred words, his hands pulling on his hair angrily.
Jimin had thought about approaching him, briefly considering the possibility that he may have wandered into the woods and gotten lost...
But the sound of footsteps approaching forced him to stop in his tracks.
The soldier's brows jumped in confusion as Taehyung entered the scene, his hands wiping off the silk material of his robes as he grunted in annoyance at the dirty that had somehow managed to find it's way onto his clothing.
Now Jimin was even more confused, his mind trying to piece together the puzzle of what was playing out before him.
Jungkook frowned at the orange-haired man, taking a step towards him.
"You're late." He spat.
Taehyung shrugged his shoulders, continuing to wipe himself clean.
"I had trouble finding you." He explained. "Why did you want to meet here? What is so urgent that we couldn't discuss it at home?"
Jungkook sighed.
"My position has been compromised." He gritted. "She knows I'm not Jungkook."
Jimin frowned in confusion at his words, moving slightly closer to make sure he heard him correctly.
Taehyung chuckled, crossing his arms.
"Good." He spat. "After everything you've put Jungkook and I through, I'm glad you're finally going to get what you deserve."
A growl sounded from the Emperor as he shot forward, his hand wrapping around Taehyung's throat, squeezing it tightly.
"Remember who you're speaking to, boy." He said lowly. "I am still your father, and you will respect me."
Taehyung glared at the man before him, his eyes hardening into a look of hatred.
"You have never been my father." He deadpanned. "You're weak and you've always been weak. That's why you've needed me all these years/ You may be powerful in your true form, but when you possess Jungkook...you're just a man...weak and defenseless."
Jungkook clenched his jaw, shoving Taehyung backwards.
"I am just a man," He agreed slowly. "But I can kill Jungkook anytime I wish, all I need is a knife and I can end him once and for all. You'd do well to remember that next time you think of back talking me."
"You won't hurt him." Taehyung ground out. "He's your only ticket to getting what you want and you know it. You need his body."
The Emperor remained silent, hating the fact that Taehyung was right.
"Maybe so," He began slowly. "But you and I still have a deal, if-"
"The deal we made is off." Taehyung gritted. "I refuse to play any part in your sick, twisted plot."
Jungkook's eyes widened as he took a step closer.
"You cannot back out of this!" He roared. "She knows too much now, I will not be able to get close to her, not while I'm in this vessel!"
"Good!" Taehyung countered. "I'm glad you won't get the chance to lay your filthy hands on her."
The Emperor frowned.
"The first one to bed her," He started. "You said that you would do anything to take your brother's place. We agreed that if you were the first one to bed her, I would leave Jungkook's body and you would take his place. That is what we agreed upon."
Taehyung's eyes narrowed as he swallowed hard.
"You don't get it, do you?" He asked. "It's over, father. You aren't going to win. She will not bear your children and you will not rule the dead. You're done. Why don't you finally accept it and leave Jungkook alone?"
"I WON'T!" He roared.
Jimin flinched at the loud sound, watching as Jungkook's chest heaved.
"I still have power." He continued. "I can win this...I just need to use you...I need you to bed her...then I will hold up my end of the bargain...I will release your brother."
"I know the rules, father." Taehyung growled. "The only reason you can possess Jungkook so freely is because he was responsible for your death. Since I am not, you can only possess me if I give you consent. And I will never do that. Not. Ever."
"So you would watch your brother suffer at your expense?!" Jungkook asked. "You would allow me to continue to control him until his body grows old and he joins me in the after life?"
Taehyung took a step forward, his arms still crossed.
"She's going to beat you." He spat slowly. "She is going to find you and send you to hell where you belong. You won't have a choice in the matter. She's stronger than you and she always has been. You'll leave Jungkook's body one way or another."
Jungkook sent a glare.
"Is that so?"
Taehyung nodded.
"It is."
"I need you to release me, Taehyung." Jungkook stated. "Say the words...and I will leave your brother alone."
Taehyung shook his head.
"If I say them, I take your place..and you still keep all of your spiritual powers...You'd win if I released you."
"That's the point!" He roared. "The Oracle is not the only one who is capable of releasing souls...You are my flesh and blood...you have the power to-"
"I won't!" Taehyung interrupted.
The Emperor frowned, taking a step forward.
"Then I will ask your other brother."
Taehyung's eyes widened slightly, his chest tightening in fear.
"You can't." He gritted. "He doesn't even know you're his father. He doesn't even know that he and I are brothers!"
"That won't change anything. He is still my blood. He can set me free."
"Apparently blood means nothing to you...not after you killed your own brother."
A silence fell over the two men for a few moments, the air thick with the tension and anger that flowed between the two of them.
"I've been watching her since the day she arrived." Taehyung continued. "Y/n is more powerful than she realizes...I have stayed away to keep her safe. I have watched over her from a distance...Even when you almost raped her...I was the one who ran and got Hoseok. I told him that I had thought something was going on...although Jin got to you before he could."
The Emperor's jaw clenched at the mention of his brother's name.
"You knew about Jin the whole time, didn't you?"
Taehyung nodded.
"I have eyes everywhere, father. That's one of the perks of being unnoticed."
"So what do you suggest I do?" He growled.
Taehyung frowned.
"Give up."
A dark chuckle escaped the Emperor, his eyes beginning to glisten with an evil glint as he stared at the orange-haired man.
"I have a better idea." He purred.
Jimin let out a sound of surprise as Jungkook's cold eyes locked with his, a large smile playing on his features.
"Why are you hiding in the bushes?" He asked with a smile. "Don't you know?
It's rude to hide from your father."

Your body jerked in surprise at the sound of your bedroom door slamming open, chest heaving with shock and fear as your eyes widened at the sight in front of you.
Jimin stumbled inside your room weakly, falling to his knees as he pushed himself through the threshold, his body moving with his ragged breathing.
Jin shot up from his laying position beside you, hair disheveled from the sleep he had been pulled from so suddenly.
You watched as he rushed over to the red-head, his hands hovering over his shaking form nervously.
You moved into action, kneeling beside the soldier and taking his face in your hands carefully.
"Jimin?" You tested. "Jimin? Can you hear me? Are you alright?"
You gasped as the red-head grabbed your wrist suddenly, pulling your face closer to his own.
"I said it." He mumbled out. "I said it. I was stupid. I didn't know what it meant-I never knew what-"
You shushed him quietly.
"What are you talking about?" You asked softly, stroking his hair. "What did you say?"
Jin's eyes widened from beside you as he watched the red follicles of Jimin's hair slowly begin to grow dull and colorless, the brilliant red slowly being washed away with white.
"Y-Y/n." He called. "You need to get up."
Your mouth fell open in surprise as you took in the slight change in Jimin's appearance, your body trying to move backwards.
Jimin's grip only tightened on you, the brown color of his eyes slowly morphing into a bright shade of blue.
"He-He saw me." He stuttered weakly. "He was going to k-kill the Emperor if I didn't say it. I had to say it. I had to."
"Y/n!" Jin yelled, his hands pulling you away from the shivering man on the floor.
"I ran as fast as I could." He continued. "I had to tell you before-before I-"
"Wh-What did you say Jimin?" You asked, watching as he shook violently.
His blue eyes locked onto yours, body convulsing uncontrollably.
"I-I said-" He let out a scream of pain, back arching off of the wooden floor.
"We need to leave, Y/n!" Jin yelled, trying to pull you outside the room.
"I can't leave him like this!" you argued.
"M-My father," Jimin whispered weakly. "He was my f-father and he-I never meant for this to happen."
Jin wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you backwards towards the door.
"I s-said," You heard Jimin whisper. "Jeon Daesung..
I release you."
