Chapter 22: Rain

"Why does it always rain on the sad part?"

"Y/n,"

Your body went rigid as Seokjin's hold on you tightened, his cool hands brushing the skin of your upper arms.

Unbeknownst to you, Seokjin's bright blue eyes were trained on the man that was now running towards the two of you, his golden-brown eyes wide with terror.

Jin squeezed his eyes shut, resting his chin on your shoulder.

"I'm sorry." he breathed, burying his face in the crook of your neck. "I'm so sorry."

Your brows furrowed, confusion covering your features.

You slowly opened your mouth to speak and give him words of comfort, but you were cut off before you could even begin.

"Get away from her!"

Your eyebrows jumped at Hoseok's distressed voice that rang out from behind you, your body slowly pulling away from Jin as you eyed the former warrior who was now running at full speed towards the two of you.

"Hoseok?" You tilted your head. "What are you-"

The young warrior suddenly gripped your forearm, pulling you to your feet in a swift motion and moving you to stand behind him as his eyes hardened on the spirit in front of him.

You glanced between the two men in utter confusion.

Can he see Jin? That's supposed to be impossible.

Seokjin released a heavy sigh as Hoseok unsheathed his sword, pointing it directly at him.

"What good do you think that will do?" He asked. "I'm dead, remember?"

Your blue eyes widened.

"Dead or not," Hoseok started. "I won't let you go anywhere near her."

The spirit's eyes softened at Hoseok's harsh words, his blue eyes falling to yours for a few moments before moving back to the man in front of him.

"You don't have to worry about that anymore.." He started. "I've decided to end it."

Hoseok scoffed, taking a step backwards and pulling you along with him.

"Why should I believe you?" He spat venomously. "You're a liar."

You blinked a few times, still trying to process exactly what was going on in front of you.

"You can see him?" Your voice came out as a soft whisper, catching Hoseok's attention.

The former warrior stared at you for a few seconds before nodding.

"I can."

You frowned.

"But-But I thought.." You trailed off, moving your gaze to Jin. "How can he see you?"

Seokjin bit his lip, turning his head away from you.

"Y/n," Hoseok spoke. "There is something you need to know.."

You tilted your head, eyes wide with innocence as your stomach began to churn uncomfortably.

"What is it?" You whispered, terrified of the answer.

The former warrior took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a few brief moments before once again opening them to stare at you.

"The reason I can see him.." He took a deep breath, head hanging. "Is because I'm the reason he's like this..."

You swallowed hard, your mind beginning to panic with numerous thoughts that ran wildly.

What were you supposed to say? What were you supposed to do?

Hoseok could see Jin all along? Why didn't he tell you?

Your heart began to pound as you stared at the stone ground beneath you.

What should you even feel in that moment? Hurt? Betrayed? Angry? Sad?

"You-" You choked. "You killed him?"

The black-haired male lowered his gaze, his head nodding slowly.

"He's like this because of me...And that's why I can see him.."

Your gaze moved to Jin who was staring right at you, his arms hanging limply at his sides.

"Why didn't either of you say anything?" You asked softly.

Jin remained quiet as he stared at you.

You couldn't make out exactly what he was feeling in that moment, numerous emotions swam in the bright pools of blue that were his eyes.

You took a step towards him, but Hoseok's arm blocked your path, his face becoming hard and stern once again.

"Don't." He husked.

You raised your eyebrows at him.

"What's wrong?"

Hoseok's chest heaved as he stared at the white-haired spirit before the two of you.

"There's something else you need to know."

Seokjin's eyes widened in terror, his head shaking instantly as he moved forwards.

Hoseok pushed you back, eyeing him.

"Don't do this." Seokjin's voice came out in a pleading tone. "I've already told you; I'm going to end it."

The former warrior shook his head fervently, eyes hard and cold.

"I don't care." He growled. "You're a liar and a cheater...and she deserves to know everything."

"You can't do this!" Jin roared, tears beginning to form in his eyes. "She'll leave me! She'll leave!"

Hoseok never faltered.

"You should have thought about that before." He deadpanned.

"Hoseok, I am begging you! Please-"

"What is going on?" You interrupted. "What do I deserve to know?"

Jin's eyes instantly snapped to you, his body launching forward as he wrapped you in a tight embrace, his head resting on your shoulder as hot tears poured over his eyes.

"I didn't mean it." He reasoned. "I never meant to hurt you-"

Hoseok suddenly gripped your arms, pulling you away from the distressed spirit.

"Don't touch her!" He roared. "Don't even go near her!"

Seokjin crumbled under the weight of Hoseok's words, quiet cries leaving his lips.

"Someone tell me what's going on!" You demanded.

The black-haired man slowly turned to face you, his eyes heavy and saddened as he spoke.

"Seokjin is a liar." He began. "He has been plotting to kill you."

Jung Hoseok was a strong man.

He had a strong will and an even stronger resolve. He had lived through terrible wars, he had seen his friends die on the great battlefield. He had lost people he cared about and he never once showed any trace of emotion..

Jun Hoseok was a strong man,

But as he watched your blue eyes widen and your bottom lip begin to tremble...he began to feel weak.

"K-Kill me?" You let out a sad laugh. "Yeah right."

Hoseok's golden-brown eyes softened on your form.

"We-We're friends. He would never hurt me. Right, Jin?"

Seokjin looked away from you, eyes falling to the ground as he remained silent.

"Y/n.." Hoseok placed his hands on your face tenderly. "I know you don't want to believe it..but it's true...Ever since you've arrived he's been trying to cast his curse onto you."

"H-His curse?" You repeated. "What curse?"

The former warrior sighed.

"There is a way for a spirit to come back and live in this world as a human.." He started. "But, in order to do that...they need someone of great power...they need an Oracle."

He ran a hand through his hair before continuing.

"Seokjin was going to gain your trust and get you to take his place..."

"That-That can't be right!" You blurted. "It's impossible!"

Hoseok shook his head.

"It isn't." He stated. "I'm sorry."

Your heart ached inside of your chest as you rose your gaze to Jin.

"Is this true?" You whispered.

Seokjin remained silent, avoiding your gaze.

"IS IT TRUE?!" You screamed angrily.

Seokjin's blue eyes finally met yours, before he was moving towards you.

"I never meant to hurt you." He reasoned.

"So what?" You asked sarcastically. "You thought that forcing me to be alone for all eternity wasn't going to hurt me?"

Jin hung his head in shame.

"I know I was wrong, but I thought I was doing the right thing. I hate this! I hate being alone!"

"You weren't alone, Jin!" You yelled, tears pouring off your cheeks. "I was here! I was always here when you needed me! How could you- How could you do this to me!?"

Seokjin raised his head, his own tears threatening to fall at the sound of your broken voice.

"I was stupid." He stated. "But, I've changed my mind. I won't hurt you."

You couldn't help the scoff that past your lips as you stared at him with an awe'd look.

"And that's supposed to make me feel better?" You asked. "I trusted you. I thought that you actually cared about me."

"I do!"

"No you don't!" You barked. "You don't lie to people you care about! You don't hurt the people you care about! Has being dead for so long really made you forget that!?"

"You don't understand!" Seokjin argued. "You have no idea what it's like to be all alone. To have no one know who you are. To have no one even care that you're gone!"

"I know better than you think." You spat. "I've been alone for a long time."

Jin sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"But people can see you." He reasoned. "They can touch you and you can feel them...They can actually speak to you and care about you."

A sad laugh moved past your lips, your eyes shining with unshed tears.

"You think that makes it any easier?" You asked. "It doesn't."

The white-haired spirit watched with wide-eyes as you continued.

"I may be able to be seen and to be heard...but all of that only makes it harder to say goodbye. When you know that there is someone out there that cares about you-that you care about more than anything else....all you want to do is go back to them, but you can't...because you're forced to leave over and over again...you're forced to remember every laugh you shared, every smile you caused...every special moment...and no matter how much you long to go back...you're stuck..all alone....So yes, I am seen and I am heard...but in the end, it doesn't matter, because I always end up alone..."

Your eyes moved to meet Jin's.

"Just like you." You finished.

Seokjin's eyes were soft as he reached out to touch you.

You backed away.

"Don't come near me." You spat.

"Y/n..."

He took another step towards you.

"Don't touch me."

He raised his hand to your face, his skin only a few inches from yours.

"I said: Don't touch me!"

He moved his fingers to brush against your cheek, but all he felt was air.

His blue eyes widened at the lack of your warmth.

He tried to touch you again, only for his hand to fall right through you as it had done with everyone else before you arrived.

He couldn't touch you anymore.

He couldn't feel you anymore.

Oh no, no, no, no.

God, please no!

His panicked gaze raised to yours, tears falling freely now.

"Y/n." He sobbed. "Don't do this."

You shook your head, backing up as your bottom lip trembled.

"Please!" He cried. "I need you! I can't be alone again! I can't!"

You didn't give him another glance before you turned on your heel, running off in the opposite direction, Hoseok following after you.

"Y/n, Please!" Jin screamed, tears never ceasing. "Come back to me!"

His body fell onto the stone ground, thunder beginning to roll above him as dark clouds moved to block the light of the setting moon.

Rain slowly began to trickle down onto his face before it began to pour down, soaking his clothes and hair.

Seokjin realized in that moment that there was no chance of him ever being able to feel you again...or hold you again... or kiss you again..

You were the Oracle... You had the power to make sure he could never touch you again...

Now, he was back to where he was before he met you.

Alone and cold.

"Please," He whispered to himself, the pouring rain drowning out his voice.

"I need you." He sobbed.

"I need you."

A/N,

Well-uhm...that took quite a nasty turn...

But I enjoy a little angst! Hehe...

I love you.

I adore you.

I purple you.

I'm out!
