{Chapter 3}
It had been weeks now since the explosion and the theft of the crystal. It seemed that everyone was talking about it, and the rumours got worse every time I heard them.
I was now allowed out of the house, and although I was constantly in pain, it was nice to have some freedom. Caitlyn was off on some sort of 'official business' thing, and my parents were gone for another week, so it was just me on my own. And I had no idea what to do...
But then I remembered Jinx's letter. They didn't give me an address or any contact information, but maybe I can find a way to contact her.
As I walked through the city centre for the first time since Progress Day, I overheard a conversation between two enforcers. It seemed like they were talking about the theft of the crystal, but to be honest, who wasn't?
"But do they know the suspect's name?" One enforcer spoke.
The other one shook their head and replied.
"Not really, but there's rumours that it might be a girl called... Powder,"
"Interesting..."
I continued to walk through the city, my leg beginning to ache due to the amount of walking I was doing. The weather was nice, and for once it was actually sunny. But the only downfall was that it was unbearably hot. I made my way to the nearest inn and sat down inside the place, which was amazingly cold. I seemed to relax a bit after I bought my drink, but my relaxation soon came to an end when I saw a familiar person sitting across the bar-side table. It was her, the girl from all those weeks ago...
As quickly as I spotted her, she spotted me, and had decided to come closer. Yet again my face heated up as she sat next to me.
"Hey cutie pie! Haven't seen you in a while!" She spoke, her voice relatively lively.
She still remembers me, from the night of the explosion? Wow...
"H-hey," I managed to stammer.
She smiled slightly more.
"So, how are you? You seemed pretty injured back when I saw you last,"
"Meh, I-I guess I'm alright. Not the best, but alright-"
"Well at least you're alright!"
There was a silence between us, before she spoke up again.
"Hey, I never actually introduced myself before, did I? I'm Jinx, and yes I was the one who sent you that letter!" Jinx introduced herself.
"Well, it's nice to meet you-" I began to speak.
I was, however, interrupted by Jinx. She seemed to be muttering to herself, with stuff like 'shut up' and 'I'm not her anymore'. Something bad is going on with her...
"Hey, are you alright?" I spoke over her muttering.
She instantly stopped, and smiled at me.
"Sorry, toots! Just talking to myself!"
I smiled back.
"So, what now?"
"Oh, I have the perfect place to watch the sunset! Follow me!"
Jinx then grabbed me by the wrist and dragged me out of the inn. I was a bit confused at first, but it was also kind of fun...
Shit, I'm in love...
