{Chapter 1}
-A few years later-
I woke up early, just in time for sunrise training with Piltover's top guards. I was one of their newest additions, and so far everything was going smoothly. My adoptive parents are both high class enforcers, which gave me an advantage when it came to working with the guards.
Today was finally Progress Day, but that meant more trouble, and more people to deal with. I quickly got dressed in my uniform, and rushed out of the front door to the modern bungalow we were temporarily living in. But just before I could leave, my 'mum' came up to me and calmly greeted me.
"Good morning, Sweetheart. Hope today goes well," She spoke with a broad smile plastered across her face.
I smiled back, opening the door.
"Yeah, I hope so..."
I looked outside and stared at the excited, busy atmosphere, sighing.
"Well, just try not to get hurt!" She spoke, staring out the door.
"It's ok, I'm 18! I'll be fine," I replied, laughing, "I'll see you later, ok?"
"Ok, good luck!"
She waved me goodbye as I left, striding quickly into the town centre. On my way there however, I somehow met my 6 year-long friend, Caitlyn Kiramman. She was at least 5 years older than me, and had also recently joined the guards by her parent's order.
"Hey Cait," I spoke, walking alongside her.
She smiled slightly before replying.
"Hey y/n, gonna be on duty today?"
"Yeah, I reckon we're going to need all the support we can get..."
Caitlyn sighed.
"Yep, especially if that chaotic bomb fanatic is around,"
Crazy bomb fanatic? I know I'm new to all the news and gossip that spreads across Piltover, but I've never heard anything about a bomb fanatic...
"Yeah, I guess so..."
Within no time, we reached the city centre. It was lively and bright, but everyone knew things would get chaotic very quickly. Our team just has to push through it all, I guess...
-4 hours later-
The Progress day speech had concluded for the year, and according to officials it was worse than in previous years. The guy who did it must have been awful...
Our group was resting outside, smoking and gossiping about the latest rumours. It was all calm, but until Caitlyn pointed out something in the distance.
"Fire!" I heard her shout at us.
I got up from my seat and walked up to her, but quickly afterwards spotted a large fire growing at a fast pace in one of the main buildings. There were even calls coming from the building, which sounded a lot like a young child.
"Shit," I muttered, running towards the building with the other guards.
But as we got there, something... unexpected happened.
The building suddenly exploded, throwing back most of us. The area was in flames...
I laid fearfully on the cold stone ground, tears beginning to swell in the corners of my eyes. This is like that night 7 years ago...
I tried to sit up, and only just did so, but in agonising pain. There was obviously a wound somewhere on my body, but I didn't want to look as to where it was. I looked around at my blazing orange surroundings, but could spot someone walking towards me quickly. Who the hell-
Before I knew it, the person was standing right in front of me. It was a young woman, with pale skin and long blue hair tied back in two really long plaits. She wore a black tank top with a cross design, purple striped pants, and metal-bounded boots of which I've never seen anything like before.
I couldn't tell if it was the fire or something else, but I could feel my face beginning to heat up massively. She smiled, her eyes lighting up ever so slightly, before walking back in the direction she came, a spring in her step. I looked back at her for a short while, before blacking out completely.
Who was that...?
