Chapter 12

"What are you even-" she began, but I wrapped my arms around her before she could even say anything.

"It's me!" I cried, squeezing her tight. My heart was racing faster than a race car, everything seeming like a dream.

"That's impossible.." she muttered, probably not even meaning for me to hear it.

"What do you mean?" I asked, slowly letting go and looking her in the eyes. She was so beautiful. I had almost forgotten what her embrace felt like.

"Oh darling, I missed you.." she said, ignoring my question. She held me tightly, "Let me call your dad, he'll be so excited to see you."

A warm sensation spread across my chest. I wasn't sure if it was suspicion or happiness, but I didn't care.

I forgot all about Jeff and Slender Mansion. All about my power and dark past. It was like it all vanished.

She intertwined her fingers with mine and helped me out of the crowd, and then she sat me on a bench.

"Okay hon, you stay here and I'll be right back." she kissed me on the forehead and walked off, her high heels clicking on the pavement.

They were obviously doing much better financially, considering the fact that she could afford a phone. I smiled and waited patiently for her to return.

"(Y/N), what in the f***ing world are you thinking!" A voice hissed from behind. I jumped a little, snapping about of my excitement. It took me a second before I answered Jeff.

"What do you mean, 'what am I thinking'? That's my mother! All these years I thought they were gone! But they aren't. Don't you DARE ruin this for me." I growled, whipping my head around to face Jeff whom stuck to the shadows like a tick on a dog.

"You need to learn where your priorities lie! You're a proxy now, remember? You are owned by Slenderman until death. There's no way-" he was cut off as my mom approached, the clicking on the pavement giving me a fair warning.

I immediately turned back around and smiled innocently, hoping Jeff hid before she saw him.

"You okay hon?" my mum asked, sitting beside me and crossing her legs. Her eyebrows were knitted together in concern.

"Yeah, I'm okay." I said, coughing nervously.

"I'm just so happy you are still here. I thought I lost you." she sighed, her eyes glistening slightly. She reached foward and hugged me.

"What happened?" I asked, "L-like how did we get separated?"

"That's a story we'll save for later." she said quietly, her tone grim. I arched my eyebrow at the sudden change of voice.

I began to pull away, but her grip tightened.

"M-mum?" I said anxiously, "You can let go."

"I'm afraid I can't do that, sweetie." she whispered. Fear started filling my system, my eyes darting around desperately for Jeff. I instantly new what was going on. I struggled, shoving her away.

The feeling of betrayal stabbed at my heart as I tried running to the shadows to get away.

"She's over here!" she yelled, lunging forward to grab ahold of me again with a vicious glint in her eye.

I dodged with a gasp, trying to gather my wit. But right as I turned around I bumped straight into someone. I flinched and began to turn to go the other direction, but I instantly realized I was surrounded.

Teardrops trickled down my cheeks as I watched Jeff slip away as silently as possible, not even looking back once. I pounded against the men's chests, screaming like the psycho I was.

I tried shifting, but they grabbed ahold of me to the point where I could no longer move and they locked chains around my neck and wrists. They pushed a needle into the back of my neck, causing me to hiss in pain.

I remembered that I was a well known enemy and that they had probably figured out some sort of way to drain my powers before I could use them in case they ever saw me.

I was no longer human to these people, but a monster. Possibly even an experiment.

I thrashed and kicked, cursed and growled, tears streaming down my cheeks as I pleaded to them to let me go. But the worst pain of all was the betrayal from who I thought was my partner in crime and my own mother.

Yeah.. don't kill me.
