Party
When it became daylight Omega was still driving. He didn't have mask on making it possible for Carbide to see how exhausted his cousin was.
- Aye... if you want I can drive, you can rest for a while.
- I'm good thanks...
He continues for a little while Omega finally let him take cover. They switched places. Although Omega was tired he didn't want to fall asleep in there, next to Carbide. He didn't trust him enough to fall asleep. His head lolls and the muscles of his face relax, releasing the tension of his driving night. Though the sunlight blares his eyes are almost closed.
Carbide looked at him for a few seconds thinking about his childhood. He is a few years older than Omega. Seeing him like that makes it almost impossible to hate him then turned back to the road as he said with a little smiled on his face
- Remember when we were kids?
Omega gently nodded with his eyes closed.
- Remember that time in the treehouse? How you were so sleepy and scared at the same time.
Omega got closer to Carbide still with his eyes closed. As he said
- mm yeah. You were complaining because I was resting my head on your shoulder.
- Haha Yeah I had peel you off me because you wouldn't let me go.
- mmmhmm
Carbide looked at his cousin's face. He was now asleep. Carbide carefully got the cover from the back seats and placed them over his cousin then continue driving towards Drift's house.
- Rest well, baby cousin
The day passed. It was night time again when they finally arrived to Drift's mansion. The music was as loud as thunder; it made the cutlery on the tabletops rattle. Neon lights flashed everywhere like police sirens, but much more colourful. The two aliens looked at each other confused as they drove closer.
Drift's POV
My parents were going to go crazy. The music was so loud that it made my skin tingle and my lungs feel like mush. The bass thumped in time with my heart beat as though they were one, filling me from head to toe with music. I liked this song. Over the roar of music, a distant, hazy chatter could be heard. I couldn't make out any words, but laughter rang in my ears and wouldn't seem to stop. The song that was playing got louder, pulling me in and wouldn't let go. I had no choice but to join the crowd, jumping in a huddled group like Tic-Tacs being shaken in a box. Under this roof it was like dancing on the Northern Lights; beneath the dry-ice smoke swirled an array of blues, acid greens, hot pinks and gold. The music played over the dance floor as if had fused with the bodies.
End of Drift's POV
At the end of the night the dance floor was like an abused chess board. On it's black and white squares were spilled drinks and broken glass. With the lights up for clean up the whole scene that had seemed so exciting and sexual only minutes before now had all the ambiance of a dirty toilet. The painted on smiles of the staff were now sagged into the epitome of exhaustion and no-one could wait for the night to end. Carbide and Omega were on the corner without their armor the whole time. Feeling very awkward about what was going on.
- I think we should come back in the morning...
- Yeah... otherwise it would just be more awkward now.
They left back to the car and rented a hotel for the night. It was one of the most luxurious in the whole of Southern California. Omega's room was huge and didn't look like a hotel room at all...more like a guest suite in an Italian palace. The bed was king-sized with pure white, Egyptian cotton sheets. He had his own desk, a thirty-six-inch TV with video and DVD, a sprawling leather sofa, and, on the other side of the floor-to-ceiling windows was his own private terrace. And the bathroom! As well as the power shower, there was a bath big enough for a football team, and a Jacuzzi. Everything in marble and handcrafted tiles. The millionaire suite. Carbide and Omega shuddered to think how much it might cost a night.
- Well... since we are going to leave Earth we might as well spend all our money!
- Fair enough
Once it was day time again they got up early to the mansion. Drift's mess was picked up by the people that work there. When the two aliens they got there instantly spotting the blonde man. Drift was outside on the garden playing catch with his siblings as their parents ate breakfast on the outside table. When they Parked the car Drift's parents seem confused. A huge pit bull ran towards them ready to strike. Carbide and Omega making sure that no person saw them they turned around facing the dog and showed their pointy teeth at the canine as they hissed. Making it get scared and run away. They continue to make their way to Drift.
He happily hugged the two aliens telling them how happy he was to see them. Carbide told him about the news
- Guess what Drift? We found a way to go back to Fortnite!
- Wh-what? You guys did? That's... that's amazing
- Come on we gotta meet up with the other ones
Drift was about to followed them wish a smiled but then stopped and turned around. His little sister was looking up to him. His parents seemed concern as for his brother he kinda figured out what was going to happen. The little girl spoke softly
- Dylan... are you leaving us again?
Drift remained quiet. His little sister assumed that was a yes.
- Where are you going? And for how long?
- Uh... it's somewhere.... where, I finally found a home, look this is awesome and I love all of you. But, my heart is there as well... I can be someone who help others...
drift's father got closer to ask him what was going on.
- What's wrong, Drifter?
- I am...
- No, don't tell me...
His father didn't say another word and simply hugged him. All his family said goodbye.
- Will you ever come back?
- I don't know, sis. Take care and never forget how much I love all of you...
