Part 39

Travelling down long, snaking paths of alleys, we finally reached the entrance to the rave. The rave itself was inside an enormous old factory, but it was only accessible on the side through heavy fire escape doors. Two very large, imposing bouncers stood on either side of the doors while a giant mass of ravers lined up waiting to get in. Amazingly the walls of the abandoned factory were soundproofed enough that you could barely hear a sound while standing outside. However, as soon as the doors opened the music poured out.

"Ok, this sucks," I whined as we joined the end of the line, realising we were going to be waiting several hours to even get in. "Sorry, I didn't realise it was going to be this popular. There's no point, let's just go."

Jake frowned, "You're giving up so soon? You've been wanting this all day."

"I don't want to be waiting all night and I know you sure as hell don't either," I pointed out.

Jake looked around then closed his eyes to take a moment to think. When he reopened up them, he spoke very softly to me so no one else would hear, "What if I could get us in?"

"Really?" I questioned out of confusion. "What, sneak in? I don't want to piss off those bouncers, Jake. Look at them!"

He shook his head and sighed, "We wouldn't need to sneak in or piss off the bouncers. My only request is that you don't ask me how. You definitely want this? Do you trust me?"

"Yes I do and I trust you," I smiled. "If you think you can get us in, do whatever it is you have in mind."

"Ok, follow me," Jake nodded.

Jake pushed past the crowd control barriers, then helped me through. All eyes were on us as we walked up the space that would normally be reserved for VIPs. I couldn't blame them; we did not look to be VIPs in the slightest. One of the bouncers approached Jake and made him stop. Jake spoke in German to the bouncer in a dark tone I never heard him use before. His expression was absolutely stone cold, even when he gestured back to me. He was almost unrecognisable from the Jake I knew. The bouncer looked at me apprehensively as if he wasn't convinced to let us through. Jake took out his phone and showed the bouncer something on the screen. Suddenly the bouncer was humbled. He stepped back and waved us through.

"Come," Jake tilted his head towards the door while his eyes were still icy cold.

I nodded nervously and stepped forward. Jake put his arm around me possessively and pulled me close as he opened the door for us to walk through together. Now even the bouncers were watching us closely as we went in. I looked back and saw them radio in as the door closed behind us. Now that we were being blasted with techno music, I had to pull Jake down to speak in his ear so he could hear me.

"Did you just expose yourself?" I asked.

Jake pulled me over to a less crowded area and leant down, "You said you trusted me."

"I didn't know it involved revealing your identity," I glared. "That was not worth skipping the line over!"

"It's fine," he shook his head. "I saved us hours of waiting. Now did you want to have a drink first or did you want to go out onto the floor?"

I sighed, "I think I need something hard now."

Jake smirked, "I'll get us some drinks. Wait here, ok? I will be back in a few minutes."

I glanced at the swarm of people around the bar, "So are you going to wave your phone and hack them too?"

"No, I have to fight to get through just like everyone else," he laughed. "If anyone bothers you, remember you can hold down the home button on your phone, ok?"

"Yeah, sure," I nodded.

Jake rubbed his thumb over my cheek, then he walked off in the direction of the bar. Once he disappeared into the swarm, I turned my attention to giant sea of people dancing to the music. At the far end of the building I could barely see the DJ behind the strobing lights and fog. There was a huge LED screen behind him displaying synced computer graphics. The longer I stood there, the more I felt the music trying to overtake me. I wanted to get out onto the floor and lose myself to the music already. Dazed, I didn't notice Jake return so when he rubbed the back of his hand against my arm, I jumped.

"That was fast," I commented as I collected myself.

"I was gone for like fifteen minutes," he frowned as he handed me a margarita.

I raised my glass to Jake and downed it in one go. He laughed and followed suit with his drink, then took my glass and put them both down. Impatiently I grabbed his hand and dragged him out to the floor. Within seconds we were engulfed by the mob and I was unable to hold back anymore - I completely let myself go to the music. At first Jake was uncomfortable, but as I danced close to him, he began to grind against me. Soon he was as enthralled in the music and the atmosphere as I was. His hands travelled up and down my body, pulling me close to him. I threw my head back and reached behind to pull his head down to my shoulder. Everyone and everything around us faded away like we were the only ones on the floor. The set continued on; songs blending into each other without interruption. Time became an abstract notion to us.

As the night carried on, Jake's hands became rougher as the lust between us grew. I could feel him all around me, and even with the large crowd and fog machines, I could smell Jake all around me too. It was so intoxicating that I turned around and kissed him deeply. His hands ran down my back and squeezed my ass roughly. Without thinking, I moaned against his lips. At that moment, all I could think about was tearing off our clothes and jumping him. I had to push myself off him otherwise I might have started acting on my urges.

I danced and swayed and rocked with the music, not caring how ridiculous I looked. It wasn't long before Jake up against me again. I turned away from him and gyrated against him. His hands slipped under my shirt and grabbed at my hips. I could feel his lust for me and it only fuelled mine, but I wasn't ready to leave yet. I wanted this high to last longer.

Lost in the vibe, it took me a moment to realise Jake had suddenly stopped moving. I turned around and saw him talking to some guy. He glanced back at me and nodded.

Jake leant in, putting his mouth to my ear so I could hear him over the music, "Let's take a break."

Reluctantly I agreed and followed Jake as he led the way back out of the mob. Out of nowhere, a drunk reveller bumped into me and knocked me to the side. By the time I righted myself, the crowd had closed the gap and Jake was out of sight. I looked around frantically, trying to find him, but it was impossible to spot a guy with black hair amongst the many other people with black hair. A stoned guy came up to me and tried to get me to dance with him. I shoved him to the side, but his buddy was not only more persistent, but larger and didn't budge when I tried to get rid of him. The first guy came up behind me and felt me up while I was sandwiched between them. I stomped on his foot, but he didn't back off. Losing my shit, I went to knee his friend, but suddenly someone else pushed him aside. I had expected to see Jake, but it was a woman instead. She yelled out something in German, then turned to me to check to see if I was ok. As she looked at me, her eyes widenedin recognition.

"What the fuck are you doing here!?" Trix screamed over the music. "Why are you alone!?"

I gestured to the crowd and motioned for us to get off the floor. Trix nodded and together we pushed through to get out of the mob.

"We got separated!" I shouted over the music as we stepped off the floor.

"Fucking great! You brought him to a fucking candy store! One where he knows the owner and gets the family & friends discount! What the fuck were you thinking!?" she glared.

"We only had one drink!" I defended and took out my phone. "We just got separated."

She shook her head at me, "If you got separated, then why isn't he looking for you?" I glanced up from my phone back at Trix. "He lost you on purpose!"

"He wouldn't do that!" I insisted as I held down the home button on my phone.

"No, he would and he has!" Trix put her hands on her hips. "It's not safe for you here. You need to leave. Now. Before his old crew find out about you!"

"What are you talking about?" I frowned.

"He didn't tell you? The asshole that kept feeding him drugs runs this show!" Trix waved her arms around. "I got in by special invite, but I'm guessing Jake had to leverage his past affiliation to get in here."

"He didn't tell me," I said exasperated.

"Yeah and now you need to get the fuck out of here!" Trix pointed towards the exit.

"Without Jake? No fucking way!" I exclaimed.

"Forget him at this point! You need to worry about yourself!" she pressured.

"Why? I thought you said they were friends," I questioned.

"Just believe me when I say I know from experience that you do not want their kind of special attention!" she stressed.

"No, tell me! I'm sick of these games! Why should I fear them?" I demanded.

"There you are!" Jake suddenly came up and put his arm around me. "I've been looking everywhere for you! Trix?"

"You are so full of shit," she rolled her eyes. "Why the fuck would you bring her here!?"

"It was my idea!" I interjected. "He didn't want to, but I made him, ok?"

"Like fuck it was your idea! It's all his fucking mind games!" Trix gestured wildly.

"Trix, it's fine. I won't let anyone near her," he assured her.

"Oh, you're doing a bang up job so far!" she spat.

I shifted uncomfortably, "At some point someone needs to explain this to me!"

Jake looked at me with a regretful expression, "Not now, ok?"

"You remember how he drugged you the other day? Wait, you do know he drugged you, right?" she narrowed her eyes.

"Good night, Trix," Jake tried to turn me away from her.

I resisted Jake, "No, I want to hear what she has to say!"

"Ask yourself, who the fuck do you think supplied him with that shit!? Shit that makes people forget everything that happens to them!" she stepped back shaking her head. "Get the fuck out of here before they decide to target you, MC!"

"Ignore her, ok? You have nothing to worry about. No one is going to lay a hand on you," Jake put his hands on my shoulders to encourage me to look at him. "Let's head back to the floor."

"I don't think Trix is the type to make such warnings without reason," I argued.

"I wouldn't have ever brought you here if I thought you were in any danger that I couldn't handle," Jake insisted. "Some shit happened in the past that I am not proud of and Trix was a victim in that, but it won't happen again."

"I think I want to go," I declared.

Jake at first reacted hurt, but then nodded in acceptance that the mood was ruined. He took my hand and led the way towards the exit. However, as we approached the exit, the bouncer from outside stood in front of the door, stopping us from leaving. I glanced up at Jake and saw he was giving the bouncer a death glare. I wondered for a moment if Jake even had a chance against the man. The bouncer was mildly amused by Jake's threat but pointed towards the stairs.

"So much for nothing happening," I sighed.

"I am sorry. I will make it quick, ok? I know they can be absolute assholes, but try to tolerate them as best as you can. I sincerely apologise for anything shit they say," Jake shouted over the music. He redirected us towards the stairs. He paused and leant over to whisper in my ear, "Do not, under any circumstance, consume anything."
