Dax's POV

(Dax's Outfit for the day)

With Alice watching over Katherine's children and Rose practically spoiling Renesmee, I waited outside for Bella and Edward to return.  Mainly, making sure Bella doesn't kill Jake when she finds out the news that Jake is mated to her daughter.  Part of me feels she'll be cool with it, but...Mother predicts danger. 

I snap my head up once I hear voices approaching the house.  I look and see Edward and a dirty looking Bella walking towards the house.

"Well, I'm amazed.  You ran away from human blood mid-hunt.  Even mature vampires have problems with that."

I stuttered my steps as I got up and walk towards them, "Wait, what?" my eyes bugged out when I hear 'human blood' used in the conversation of hunting, "Human blood?"

Both of them turn to look towards me, Bella sends me a smile, "Hey, Dax."

"Don't 'Hey, Dax' me.  Rewind, whose human blood were you talking about." I demanded.

"Well..." Bella stutters.

"It's my fault." Edward speaks up.  "When Bella was hunting, there was a human in the area.  I should have scanned for any humans, but I was too focused on helping Bella."

I looked at them in pure shock, but before I could make any judgments or accusations, Bella cuts me off.

"But, I didn't harm anyone....except for the mountain lion.  I wanted the blood, but I stopped myself when Edward warned me.  I just took a deep breath and realized what I was doing and ran." She says.

I was honestly shocked at what I just heard, "You ran...from human blood....in mid-hunt?" I asked, trying to process it all.

Bella stutters a little and swallows nervously, "Yeah, pretty much."

Edward smiles down at her with love and pride, I can see his eyes sparkling as he watches her.  Holding her close to him.  Savoring every second with her since she's been brought back.  I know he's very relieved and happy that she was alive...in a way.  But, he should realize how important it is for her to control her powers and kills. 

I smirk down at her, "Impressive.  Your senses for souls are just as strong as your thirst for blood."

Bella frowns in confusion, "Souls?"

"It's how an Elemental hunts.  The blood and soul of a human.  You can smell both.  Your vampire sense of smell went after the human...but it was really the elemental side of you that stopped you.  You could tell it was an innocent." I explain.

Bella looks at me, listening to every word I just said, I could see she was trying to process it.

"An Elemental can smell a damned soul a hundred miles away.  It's like smelling...something that's a favorite of yours.  Drink or foods that make your mouth water.  It's different with everyone.  With your vampire half, it might be a bit confusing at first, but we'll help you get through." I say as I give her a soft smile and her shoulder a squeeze.  She gives me a small smile back and nods.

"What does it smell like to you?  A damned soul?"  She asks.

I inhale deeply and sigh softly, "Might seem silly, but every time I smell a damned soul, I smell...mac and cheese." I laugh softly.

Bella frowns, "Mac and cheese?"

"When Remy was still alive, we practically lived off of welfare and food stamps, I could barely afford a meal for myself.  But, I always made sure Remy could eat every night.  Only thing he would eat was Mac and cheese for dinner."  I smile at the memories of Remy eating the foods I cooked for him.  "As time went by, I got better at cooking and Mac and cheese became a favorite of mine as well.  So, whatever your favorite food is will be the scent of a damned soul, but 10xs better, it'll make your stomach growl and your mouth water to extreme.  You'll find out soon once we give you some blood." 

Bella sighs, nodding as she understands everything.  But, it's so much better to show than tell how it'll be.  We all turn towards the house when footsteps approach us from the deck.  Jake comes strolling towards us with a smile, but I could see how cautious he was at the same time. 

Bella's eyes widen in surprise, she definitely wasn't expecting Jake here.  I'm honestly worried for Jake right now. 

"You're still here." She gasps.

"So are you.  I didn't expect you to seem so....you."  Jacob stutters a little as he gestures at her appearance.  "Except for the creepy eyes.  And blood and dirt...ripped dress.  What did you do, fight a bear?"

I wave my hand over Bella and soon, the blood and dirt and rips in her dress faded away and sewn as if it never happened.  Bella gasps as she looks down at herself. 

I smirk, "I'll teach you in time."

Bella smiles back, "Thanks."

"Anytime.  Besides Alice would kill you if she saw what you did to the dress." I chuckled. 

Bella scoffs a laugh, knowing it was true.  She stiffens, suddenly, when Jake begins to walk towards her.  She holds up a hand to stop him.

"I would keep my distance for now."  She says nervously and cautious.

"It's safer for the baby to see how you do with me first."  Jake explains.

Bella frowns in confusion, "Since when do you care about Renesmee?"

Jake and Edward share a look, Edward shakes his head discreetly.  I'm guessing he's telling Jake that he didn't tell her about him and Renesmee.

Jake sighs and stays where he stands, "All right.  Take a whiff."

Bella slowly moves closer, sniffing at Jake, then she suddenly scrunch her face up in disgust.

"Well, I can see what everyone's been talking about.  Jake, you really do stink." Bella says.

Jake sighs in relief while Edward laughs with me.  He pulls her into his arms and holds her close.  Jake smiles at the two of them. 

"You guys really look great together."

Bella smiles, but I could see in her eyes that she was confused with his attitude.  Where was the jealousy?  But, that changed when Edward brought up a subject she desperately wants to know.

"Want to come meet our daughter?"

Bella's eyes light up as she nods excitedly, Jake takes off inside and I follow them.  Every step I took increased my stress.  Soon, Bella will know why Jake is so protective for Nessie.

Katherine's POV

I turn when I hear footsteps walking up the stairs to the living room.  I smile as I see Bella approaching with Edward and Dax.  I may be smiling, but inside I was scared.  I watch everyone else welcome her with big smiles as Rosalie was tending to Renesmee and Jake. 

"Welcome to the family."  Esme says as Carlisle holds her close. 

"You look amazing, Bella." Oriel smiles at her as she gives her room. 

"Someone's been waiting to meet you." Carlisle says. 

Finally, Bella reaches Rose and Jake, "Rose."  Edward gains her attention. 

With a loving smile, Rose turns as she holds Renesmee in her arms.  I watch the all the air leave Bella's body as she looks at her daughter who gurgles and smiles big when she sees her.  Renesmee's eyes light up when she finally meets her mother.  As if she knew it was her.  Bella carefully takes Nessie into her arms and holds her close.  Ness coos softly and reaches up to touch Bella's cheek. 

Bella seems to have fallen in a daze, but soon, she snaps out of it when Nessie moves her hand away. 

"What was that?"

Edward smiles with pride, "She showed you the first memory she has of you."

Bella frowns down at her daughter, "Showed me? How?"

Edward strokes his daughter's hair, "How do I hear thoughts?  How does Alice see the future?"  he strokes her cheek, "She's gifted."

Bella looks up at Edward, realizing what he was saying.  Renesmee was born with gifts, powers.  She looks back down at Renesmee, studying her.  I knew what she was thinking as she pulls Nessie's lip down gently, seeing baby teeth sprouting from her gums. 

"I've only been out for two days?"  She asks.

"Her growth rate is unprecedented."  Carlisle explains as everyone frowns with worry.

"It's the same with our kids.  They're growing fast, but Renesmee's growth is a little faster than the twins." Jasper says as he holds me close. 

Bella looks at us, worry in her eyes, for her daughter, for us.  But, I have faith. 

"All right. That's enough experimenting for one day." Jake says as he reaches for Renesmee. 

"Jacob.  She's doing great." Edward frowns at him.

"Yeah.  Let's not push it though." Jake says as he reaches for her again, but Bella pulls Renesmee away from his grasp, she studies his body language and I watch her sniff.  Jake's essence reeked with love and worry, but it was directed at Renesmee.

"You're afraid.  But, not of me, for Renesmee.  What's your problem?"  She asks.

Rosalie smirks, "Oh.  Do tell her, Jacob."  She pats his shoulder and moves to Emmett as he smirks as well.

"This should be good."

Bella frowns at us all and looks towards me as I dig into her mind, "Bella, before you do anything rash.  Please.  Please, listen to Jacob." I said telepathically.

Bella's eyes widen in shock, but she shakes it off when she notices how nervous we all were. 

"Hold on a second." Edward says as he takes Renesmee out of her arms and hands her to Rosalie. 

Jake's body begins to tremble as his voice shakes, "Bella.  Look, it's a wolf thing."

"What's a wolf thing?" Bella growls out.

"Bella..." Cin holds up his hands as he walks closer.  "Calm down, girl."

Jake stutters, "Um...You know we have no control over it.  We can't choose who it happens with.  And it doesn't mean what you think, Bella. I promise."

"Take Renesmee out of the room." Bella snarls. 

Rose and Esme rush to get her out of the room.  Jake's fear goes up as he gulps. 

"Oh."

Edward tries to calm her, but she growls lowly, "Edward, don't touch me right now.I don't want to hurt you."

Edward drops his hands and looks over to Jake.

"Ohh." Jake whines and grunts in pain when Bella snatches out to grab him by his neck, dragging him outside and throws him across the yard. 

He grunts as he lands and turns to see Bella glaring down at him with such rage. 

"You imprinted on my daughter?!"

"It wasn't my choice!"

"She's a baby!"

"It's not like that.  You think Edward would let me live if it was?"

Edward leans on the banister of the deck and smirks, "I'm still debating it."

"Edward, this is not the time to be joking.  You really need to calm her." Dax warns. 

Edward frowns and looks at us, seeing how worried we were.  He moves, but Bella stalks after Jake as she walks towards him slowly, growling lowly. 

"I've held her once!  One time, Jacob!  And already you think that you have some moronic wolfy claim on her?"  She sneers at him.

Jake's eyes widen as we all see Bella's powers rising.  Her eyes were glowing bright purple as claws begin to grow from her finger tips. 

"She's mine!"  Bella roars as she shoves Jake away, shoving him into the air. 

Bella snarls as she glares at him with such rage. 

Soon, Seth and Leah shows up with their wolf forms, worried for their pack mate.  Their Alpha.  Jake holds up a hand at a growling Leah.  

"It's fine, Leah."

"You're gonna stay away from her." Bella demands. 

"You know I can't do that." Jake says as he pleads her, but Bella was too far gone to listen to reason. 

She punches him in the chest, sending him flying again. 

"Bella, you must stop!" Oriel shouts, but Bella wasn't listening. 

"Edward, can you stop her?  She'll only listen to her mate right now." I grunt in frustration. 

Jake holds up his hands to stop Bella, "Do you remember how much you wanted to be around me 3 days ago? That's gone now, right?"  He asks.

"Long gone."  She snarls as her fangs begin to burst through her gums. 

"Because it was her.  From the beginning, it was Nessie who wanted me there."  Jake explains.

Bella's eyes widen with white hot rage, "Nessie?  You nicknamed my daughter after the Loch Ness monster?!!!"  She roars.

"Oh, somebody get that guy out of here." Cin's eyes widen as he mutters.

Before Bella could attack, Seth leaps out in front of Bella.  Bella shoves Seth away with a roar and sends him against a tree.  She, suddenly, snaps out of her rage when Seth lets out a loud yelp.  

Jake rushes to Seth, making sure he was ok. 

"Seth, are you okay?"

"Seth, I'm sorry." Bella says as her human form was coming back.

Oriel roars with fury, "MINE!!!" She rushes towards Bella with anger and shoves her against a tree.  She rears her hand back to punch Bella in the face, but Bella ducks and Oriel strikes the tree instead.  Bella shoves her back and tries to hold her, but Oriel breaks out of her grip and raises her hand to strike, but Cin grabs her pulls her away. 

"Calm, sister!  Calm!" Cin shouts as Oriel roars and fights to get to Bella. 

"Seth is ok.  Calm." I rush to stand in front of her.

Breathing heavily, Oriel growls lowly and stops fighting.  She snarls at Bella and moves to tend to Seth.  She strokes his fur as he whines and licks her face. 

I turn to look at a guilty looking Bella, "She'll get over it.  But, you need to control your anger, girl.  It's connected to your Elemental powers.  You could have killed them both.  And we would lose you."

Bella frowns, and gasps. 

"If an Elemental kills an innocent, attacking them like that instead of feasting on them, you could become a butcher.  Your soul would be lost forever in darkness." Dax explains. 

Bella swallows hard, realizing what we were saying.  We didn't want this to happen to her.  She needed to control herself. 

Jake cautiously walks towards her and Bella glares at him. 

"Bella, you know me better than anyone.  All I want is for Ness..."  Bella's glare hardens. "Renesmee to be safe.  Happy.  Look,nothing ever made sense before.  You.  Me.  Any of it.And now I understand why.   This was the reason." Jake says.

Slowly, Bella was beginning to understand, but I knew she still did not like this. 

"Bella." I place a hand on her shoulder.  "You know we can't fight fate.  Jake is your daughter's mate.  He needs her like she's gonna need him.  You have seen how imprints work with Sam and Emily.  Seth and Oriel.  Cin and Leah.  Me and Jasper.  You and Edward.  You're not gonna lose her.  Family is forever."

"And forever, we protect." Bella says softly. 

"Yes." I nod.

Bella sighs and licks her lips, "Fine.  It's gonna take time, but ok."

Jake sighs in relief and smiles. 

"But, hurt her in anyway, just remember I have new powers and I can use them on you." Bella snarls and walks back into the house. 

Jake lets out a loud gulp.
