Past
Even though Xi Xi was keeping the queen company and the queen was smiling more often than before, everyone had begun to notice that the queen had lost her will to live.
YiJun had started getting sad looks from the palace staff and his father; it had bothered him before, but since the time he had met Xian, he had stopped paying attention to these looks, for they did nothing but bring him down. As long as Xian was by his side, YiJun was fine; YiJun was happy.
YiJun loved dawn; he truly loved it, for that was the time every day when Xian used to arrive at the palace with his mother. He always waited for Xian at dawn.
YiJun hated dusk; he truly hated it, for that was the time every day when Xi Xi used to return home, taking Xian with her; taking Xian away from him.
Once Xian entered the palace gates, he used to leave his mother and run to his Jun. The boys used to spend the whole day together.
The little prince had started smiling more often than before, and little Xian had continued to shower YiJun with affection. In the beginning, YiJun had just accepted the smaller boy's innocent hugs and kisses, but as days had gone by, the prince had started reciprocating Xian's hugs and kisses with his innocent ones.
In the beginning, YiJun had just felt happy every time the younger boy had called him HIS, but as days had gone by, YiJun had started responding. And every time, Xian called YiJun, "MINE", YiJun replied, "YOURS."
YiJun and Xian had gotten closer. They were each other's companions in everything, and they rarely left each other's side.
The palace staff had begun to notice this strange yet strong friendship but had decided not to make a big deal about it. After all, YiJun was an only child, and every child wants a playmate.
Almost six months had passed since Aunty Xi Xi and Xian had set foot inside the palace, when one day, the queen had called the boys in her chamber and spoken to both of them, "YiJun, Xian... promise me that you will take care of each other. Xian, Jun needs you, and you have to be there for him, always."
Little Xian had not understood what was being asked of him exactly, but he had smiled and nodded nonetheless.
The queen had looked at YiJun then and beckoned him closer. Hugging him, she had advised, "YiJun, you are special. Always keep Xian next to you. You need to protect each other. Do you understand me, son?"
YiJun had nodded. But of course, he too was too young to realize the depth and importance of his mother's words. YiJun had replied confidently, "I understand, mother. I will always keep Xian next to me."
The queen had smiled and hugged both the children. "YiJun, if anything happens to me, aunty Xi Xi will take care of you."
YiJun had frowned disapprovingly at those words, so the queen had once again taken a different approach, "YiJun, she is Xian's mother. If you don't respect her, listen to her, she may feel hurt and take Xian away from... "
"No, she can't do that." YiJun had blurted out, and without a moment's hesitation, had agreed, "I promise I will listen to aunty."
The queen had looked at Xi Xi and smirked, and Xi Xi had nodded knowingly.
"Mother, can we go outside now?" YiJun had requested, and the queen had agreed, "Mn." and added affectionately, "I love you, sweetheart."
"Love you too, mother." YiJun had said hurriedly, before dragging Xian outside with him.
He probably would have spent some more time with his mother, spoken to her for longer, if he would have known that that would be the last time he would ever get to talk to his mother or hold her. Alas, the little boy had not known it that at the time.
The next day had been the worst day of the little prince's life; he had lost his mother. The inevitable had finally happened: the queen had passed away in her sleep.
The king had called YiJun to his chamber and tried to explain to him that he won't be able to see his mother again. YiJun had cried and thrown a tantrum. He had not understood how that was possible. "Mother would never do that to me." YiJun had said confidently.
When the heartbroken king had held YiJun and cried, YiJun had finally believed the king's words.
'Father would only cry if mother left us and went away.' YiJun had thought to himself.
"Will she never come back?"
"No, son. It's just us now." The king had answered.
YiJun had started shaking quietly. Silent tears had rolled down his cheeks. It was at this moment that Xi Xi had entered and picked up YiJun in her arms.
"You don't need to concern yourself with him. I promised the queen that I will take care of him. And as long as I am alive, I will take care of the prince." The woman had said curtly, before taking YiJun away from the king.
When Xi Xi had brought YiJun back to his room, his eyes had fallen on a crying Xian.
As soon as Xian had seen YiJun, he had run towards him and hugged him tight.
Xian's eyes were puffy and swollen, as if he had been crying for a long time. And he had been. Xian had been crying since the wee hours of the morning without any reason.
Thus, Xi Xi had suspected the worst even before she had set foot inside the palace. And her fears were confirmed almost immediately: The queen had passed away in the wee hours of the morning.
The two little boys had clung to each other and cried till both of them had exhausted themselves and fallen asleep on the floor; in each other's arms.
Xi Xi had tried to pick up YiJun and put him in his bed. YiJun had started crying again.
"Don't cry, sweetheart, tell me what you want?" Xi Xi had asked, wiping YiJun's tears.
"Xian." The little prince had answered.
"Ok." Xi Xi had said and carried both the boys to bed one by one. YiJun had immediately fallen asleep once Xian had returned to his arms. Xi Xi had smiled affectionately at the two peacefully sleeping kids and walked away.
That was the first time the boys had spent the night in each other's arms.
Present
It was nearing dawn. Wei Xian has set the alarm for 4.30 am. He had promised Jiang Cheng that he would pick him up from Mianmian's house at 5.30.
As soon as the alarm goes off, Xian wakes up. He opens the curtains and the window.
'It's still dark... and cold.' Xian closes the window but keeps the curtains open.
Wei Xian loves to look at the rising sun; he has always loved it.
He goes to the washroom and freshens up.
When he walks out, his eyes fall on the locket he had found the night before.
He picks it up to take a closer look at it. He finds a small latch on it. He tries to open the latch but cuts his finger in its sharp edge.
"Ouch!" He winces and drops the locket.
"Damn it!"
Xian picks it up and puts it inside his drawer before walking over to the window. He watches as darkness gets slowly replaced by light.
He sees the first rays of the sun and closes his eyes.
His hand moves to the nape of his neck; he starts feeling hot.
'What is wrong with me?' He wonders.
He tries to clear his head, but his savior's husky voice invades his mind.
'You will forget them. You will forget me, and you will forget what I am about to do next.'
Xian feels his heart beat faster.
Thump. Thump. Thump
He has never felt like this before. He feels like his wait is finally going to end. And that he is close to finding what he has been craving for, all his life.
"Xiaannn... " He hears someone whine," Won't you let your Jun in?"
Xian turns and looks around the room.
He is still alone.
He hears someone giggle.
"My Jun, patience is a virtue." Another voice teases.
'It's my voice.' Xian realizes and starts feeling hot. 'Anticipation, but what am I anticipating? Who am I waiting for?'
Thump...thump...thump...thump
If his heart was racing before, now it is so fast that he thinks that it will leap out of his chest.
'Fuck!.... Am I going mad!?' Xian questions his sanity when he feels his member harden for no reason at all.

He starts panting and makes his way to the washroom.
'A cold shower should cool me down.'
He thinks and removes his clothes before getting in the shower.
"Isssss.... " He winces when cold water hits his burning skin.
He stands in the shower for a minute, hoping that the feeling will go away, but it doesn't.
He closes his eyes and feels a pull. And then there is darkness.
When he opens his eyes, his surroundings look different. He is in a cottage of some sort. He watches as the door opens and a man walks in, wearing royal clothes of ancient times.
The man's features are unclear, like a faded old portrait. Hazy. Blurry.
The man walks over to him and discards his clothes before climbing on the bed and lowering himself on Xian.
Xian closes his eyes, 'What is this? Where am I?"
He feels the lips on his neck and jaw...kissing, nipping, sucking.
The stranger wraps his strong arms around his waist.
The man, the stranger, starts stroking him while kissing him senseless.
The stranger discards Xian's clothes. Slowly, meticulously: like he has done it a million times.
And then Xian feels lips on his neck and his jaw once again.
'Jun. My Jun.' Xian hears himself moan. He is breathing heavily.
A second later, the lips are gone.
'Come back.' Xian begs, and the lips return. The stranger starts leaving a trail of kisses on Xian's neck, moving lower, mouthing over his hard nipple: sucking and licking.
'Ahhhhh... Jun.' Xian moans, "More..." He orders.
Xian has never felt so loved, so wanted, so desired. The stranger starts stroking him faster and faster. Xian closes his eyes tighter.
Then suddenly, everything goes quiet, and he feels the stranger cup his face.
He feels deep, heavy breaths next to his ears before he hears the words, "I love you, Xian...Jun is Yours, always. "
"Ahhhhh!" Xian moans loudly and cums on his palm.

When he opens his eyes, he finds himself standing under the shower.
He feels empty and alone, "Jun..." Xian whispers, "Who are you?"
