Chapter 22 - Hoping for miracle
Vanessa's POV
I covered my mouth with my hand and rushed to the bathroom as nausea flooded over me. Fortunately, I reached in time.
After vomiting, I splashed some water onto my face. I still felt bad. I had been feeling unwell the last few days. Probably, I was sick because I didn't properly eat, and if we added to it the stress I felt, it was miracle that I wasn't in the hospital.
I rested my hand on my stomach and went to my bedroom back. Today Jack and I were visiting his parents. My family would be there to; so I had to get ready.
Jack only let me leave my bedroom when we went to visit our parents or when my parents visited me here because they didn't know that he locked me in my bedroom. He threatened me not to tell our parents about it if I didn't want him to touch me.
It had been a month since Jack locked me in my room. At least, I didn't often see his face. I only saw him when we went to our parents, but it was rare as well. Moreover, he had been so busy the last few weeks; there were some problems in his business, but I didn't know what the problem was.
When we arrived in Jack's parents', my parents were already here. Once we greeted each other, Jack, his father and my father went to the garden to talk privately. Meanwhile, Jack's mother, Joanna, my mother and I were chatting in the living room. As always after talking for a while, Joanna asked me when Jack and I were planning to have a baby.
"Excuse me. I have to go to the bathroom," I lied and went to the bathroom as Joanna didn't stop talking about her dream to be a grandmother.
When I was about to walk into the bathroom, my head spoon. I leaned my hand against the doorframe for support.
After feeling slightly better, I walked into the bathroom and washed my hands. Then I rested my hands on my neck to freshen up, closing my eyes while taking deep breathes.
After feeling better, I left the bathroom in slow steps.
"What are you doing here?" Jack asked firmly and approached me angrily.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance. "Don't you have any idea?" I asked mockingly.
"Don't try to mess up with me, Vanessa. If you found yourself a new lover, you know very well how I will destroy them," he stated firmly, giving me an intimidating look as he grabbed my arm tightly.
"Let go of me, Jack. You are hurting me," I pleaded, trying to pull my hand away.
"If you weren't Vincent's daughter, I would already get rid of you, you little bitch," he confessed bitterly and trailed his hand from my back to my derriere.
"What are you doing?" I asked in panic and tried to pull back.
"Don't worry you aren't my type, and I don't like sluts as you." Jack gave me an arrogant look, traveling his hand towards front of my jeans. "Good, you don't have a phone on you." He smirked and pulled back.
"Did you forget that you took my phone?" I reminded mockingly and rubbed my arm.
"My wife is a sneaky bitch. I have to be wary." He gave me a disgusting smirk as he grabbed my chin and pushed me back against the wall.
"Let go of me!" I exclaimed angrily and tried to push him back, but he was stronger than me.
"Don't try to fool me. You know how you will get punished." He smirked devilishly.
I gave him a disgusting look and pushed him back. This time he finally let go of me.
When I wanted to walk away from him, I felt dizzy again. I tried to rest my hand on the wall for support, but suddenly, my vision darkened.
When I opened my eyes, I was in the hospital. My parents, Jack and his family were here.
"Honey, how do you feel?" my mother asked me worriedly, holding my hand.
"What happened to me?" I mumbled, confused and rubbed my forehead. My mind was blurry.
"You fainted. I was so worried about you," my mother replied, concerned while stroking my hair affectionately.
"You scared us, dear," Joanna said warmly. Meanwhile, Jack was leaning against the wall with a blank expression.
Suddenly, the door opened, and the doctor walked in.
"How do you feel?" the doctor asked, giving me a warm smile.
"Fine," I replied, ruffling my hair.
He nodded and looked at the papers in his hand. "Well, your blood sugar was low. It could be related to your pregnancy. There is nothing serious," he informed me.
"What?" I mumbled in shock.
"You didn't know?! You are six weeks pregnant. Congratulations." He gave me a warm smile.
"Oh my goodness!" Joanna exclaimed happily. Then my parents and Charles congratulated me. After me, they congratulated Jack.
I bit my lower lip and looked at Jack anxiously. He gave me a murderous look.
"Why are you standing behind? Go and hug your wife," Joanna told Jack happily and pushed him towards me softly.
Jack walked towards me in slow steps and hugged me under our parents' eyes.
"You will get rid of this bastard. Otherwise, I will kill both of you," he whispered in my ear, threatening me, and pulled back.
I rested my hand on my stomach protectively as fear filled my heart. I pursed my lips together as my eyes welled up. Despite the fact, I didn't even know who my baby's father was, I was happy by this news.
This little one was the light in my darkness. Moreover, even if I knew it was just my imagination, I wanted to think that this little one were really Rick and my baby.
"Oh, you are emotional. It is pregnancy hormones," Joanna commented tenderly, giving me a warm smile, and stroked my hair gently.

I was squeezing the strap of my bag tightly as the driver parked the car in front of the mansion. Jack hadn't told anything since we got into the car after leaving the hospital, but he still looked frustrated, his features dark. His pulse slammed in his neck, and his muscles were tense.
As soon as we got out of the car, he grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the mansion, ignoring my protests.
Once we walked into my bedroom, Jack slammed the door shut and pushed me onto the bed roughly.
"Tomorrow morning you will get rid of this bastard. I will make an appointment. Then we will tell our parents that you had a miscarriage," he stated coldly.
"No way!" I protested, resting my hand on my stomach as tears ran down my cheeks uncontrollably. "Please, Jack. I can't do it. I can't kill my baby," I begged him.
"Do you really think I will let you give birth to this bastard? Even if cheating on me isn't enough for you, you want me to give my surname to your bastard," he stated angrily and gave me a mocking smirk, grabbing my hair tightly. "Pray, I don't hit you till you die with your bastard," he added furiously and pushed me back roughly as his phone rang.
"Jack, please. I don't want to get abortion," I pleaded and knelt in front of him, holding his legs.
"You are disgusting," he commented dryly, pushing me back angrily, and left, picking up his phone. I burst out crying, resting my hand on my belly.
***
I rubbed my eyes before opening them as I heard footsteps. I fell asleep after crying non-stop. I felt desperate. I knew Jack wouldn't let me give birth. Even if I refused to go to the hospital, he would find a way to make me lose my baby. Someone who killed his pregnant mistress could do everything to my baby.
I was going to lose my little one as well. I wouldn't be able to protect my baby as I couldn't protect Rick. This baby was my last hope, but I wasn't capable of protecting him or her either.
I pulled back in fear as I saw Jack beside my bed and rested my hand on my stomach protectively. He smelt alcohol.
My heart started beating faster while I was looking at my nightmare. He was the killer of the every best thing in my life.
"What are you doing here?" I mumbled anxiously and rested my hand on my belly protectively. "Please, Jack. I can't kill my baby. I am begging you," I pleaded as tears started running down my cheeks. "I promise I won't leave your side for a second. I won't create any problem for you. Just let me give birth to my baby, Rick. I can't live if I lose him or her too. Please, Jack," I begged him while he was staring at me with a stoic expression. "Please."
