Chapter 16 - Secret
Rick's POV
"And you have to be careful now after making the front page with your American chick. Don't forget we have a lot of enemies who know you. Even if you changed your name, they know who you are," he stated worriedly. "I will tell Giovanni to send someone to keep an eye on you."
"You talk like you haven't already ordered someone to follow me," I commented mockingly. "I know it was one of your henchmen who called the police to the warehouse," I added, giving him a knowing look.
My father smirked arrogantly. "See you soon, Riccardo." He tapped on my shoulder and left, closing the door behind him.

"Could I get a glass of Margarita, please?" I gulped nervously as I heard a familiar seductive voice.
Once I gave a customer his drink, I turned back and faced that familiar voice's owner.
"Rosa..." I mumbled, looking at the brunette with a flirtatious smile on her face. I cleared my throat and asked, puzzled. "What are you doing here?"
Rosa Fantoni... She was the daughter of my father's right-hand man, Giovanni. I had known her since childhood. She was feisty, adventurous and stubborn. We started dating when we were in high school. But after what happened to my brother, I broke up with her because I was beside myself.
"Aren't you happy to see me, Ricky?" she asked seductively, raising her eyebrow.
I sighed and replied firmly. "It will be better if you leave."
"Why?" she purred, leaning towards me. "I missed you," she confessed, resting her hand on my cheek.
"Rosa!" I frowned and pulled back.
"Let's go somewhere private," Rosa suggested seductively.
"I can't. I am working," I refused, shaking my head.
"But I have important things to tell you. I am sure that you would like to hear about them," she commented arrogantly.
I heaved a loud sigh. "Just two minutes."
She grinned happily and nodded.
Once we found a quite place on the second floor, I rested my hands in my pockets, leaning against the wall, and said nonchalantly. "What are you going to tell me?"
She approached me, giving me a seductive smile, and wrapped her arms around my neck.
"Ros..."
She brushed her lips against mine, catching me off guard. As soon as I got rid of my surprise, I pushed her back.
"What the hell are you doing?" I snapped angrily and wiped my lips with the back of my hand.
"Didn't you miss me?" she purred, resting her hand on my chest.
I pushed her back and reminded her firmly. "We broke up, Rosa."
"Did you forget how much fun we had? And those passionate nights," she commented seductively and bit her lower lip, looking into my eyes.
"I don't love you anymore. My feelings had changed. I told you," I stated firmly.
"You were beside yourself, Ricky. Moreover, finding you sober was so difficult. Almost impossible. So I know it wasn't true. You needed some time. On the other hand, I know you felt guilty because of cheating on me with Domenico's fiancée," she declared, giving me a knowing look.
I gulped nervously and mumbled, running my hand through my hair. "What?"
Rosa smirked cunningly. "I know what happened between you two, Ricky. I saw you that night."
"Rosa, I..." I murmured without knowing what to say as the flashback of that night flashed in my mind.
Flashback
I frowned, resting my glass on the coffee table, and stood up barely.
"Hi." Angela gave me a slight smile as I opened the door.
"Hey. How are you?" I smiled lazily and greeted her with a kiss on her cheek.
"You are drunk again." She sighed sadly and stroked my cheek affectionately.
"Would you like something to drink? Join me, please." I grabbed her wrist after closing the door.
"I have your favorite wine." I winked at her and went to bring the bottle and two glasses.
An hour later, both of us were totally drunk. We were talking about our adventures together. My brother, Angela, Rosa and I spent a lot of time together. Most of the time, it ended with my father getting angry at us because I did something bad, getting us into trouble.
"And you jumped into the pool, fully-dressed. I can't forget your father's face. He looked frustrated." Angela burst out laughing.
I chuckled. "Oh yeah. Dad took my car key as a punishment."
"And we hadn't have seen you for a week," she added, grinning.
"Yes." I rolled my eyes. "And do you remember what happened in Venice?" I asked, grinning mischievously.
"Oh my goodness! Yes, how can I forget it?!" She burst out laughing. "Fortunately, Domenico was there. If he wasn't with us, the police would arrest us," Angela commented, smiling. Then her expression changed as she noticed that she mentioned about Domenico.
I sighed sadly and rested my hand on top of her hand, giving her a sympathetic look.
"I miss him so much," she confessed and wiped the tears off her cheek.
"So do I, Angie," I said, wrapping my arm around her shoulder, pulling her towards me. She hugged me tightly. "I am with you. You can rely on me. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask," I added softly, stroking her hair smoothly.
"Thank you." She gave me a sad smile as she pulled her head back slightly.
I smiled at her tenderly. "Of course, you will count on me. I have met you before you started dating my brother." I winked at her.
Angela and I were classmates. She and my brother met at my birthday party. A month later, they started dating.
Angela smiled sadly. "Actually, I..." She sighed, pulling back slightly, and bit her lower lip shyly, ruffling her hair. "I had a crush on you when we were in high school, but you never gave me any attention. It hurt me every time I saw you with different girls. So when Domenico confessed his feelings towards me, I accepted because of you. I thought if I dated your brother, at least I could spend more time with you. And... Maybe one day, you would see me differently."
I looked at him with wide eyes. Angela liked me?!
"But after spending some time with Domenico, I fell in love with him," she resumed, smiling gloomily. "Yes, you two looked like each other so much, but there was something else in him which made me feel safe with him. It felt like I had known Domenico my whole life."
"I... I didn't know that you..." I mumbled without knowing what to say.
"I shouldn't have told you about it," she commented, embarrassed as her cheeks flushed.
"No... I am just surprised." I gave her a reassuring smile, resting my hand on her arm.
"I hope you won't hate me," Angela said, ashamed.
"No, of course not." I smiled lazily and pulled her into my arms.
"I don't want to lose you too," she resumed, hugging me tightly.
I pulled back slightly and cupped her cheeks. "You won't lose me, Angie," I assured her, looking her in the eyes.
"Thank you for being here for me." Angela gave me a bright smile, leaning her head against my palm while holding my wrist. I smiled, stroking her cheek tenderly while we were looking at each other affectionately.
In a flash, she brushed her lips against mine, catching me off guard. Once I got rid of my surprise, I cupped her cheeks and responded to her kiss, kissing her feverishly. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me with her as she lied back on the couch.
The End.
I still felt guilty about it. Yes, we were drunk and depressed because of Domenico's death, but it shouldn't have happened. The following morning I felt like I betrayed my brother. It was so wrong. Besides, I knew Angela didn't love me; she just saw my brother in me. Nothing more.
The following morning I apologized to her and told her we shouldn't have done it, and it would be better if we forget that night. She agreed with me and felt embarrassed. However... we repeated it when we got drunk together again. It made me feel guiltier; if it wasn't enough that Domenico died because of me, now I was fuc...
Damn it!
I was sure I didn't feel anything towards Angela, but I repeated the same mistake more than once. I didn't know maybe we reminded each other of Domenico, and we thought it would decrease our pain.
After for a while, I felt she started acting towards me differently like we were dating. Then I decided to stop this affair and leave Sicily. Especially after what happened to my best friend and my father's loyal henchman, Mario.
My father ordered to him to keep an eye on me, but I got drunk and gave him the slip because I was bored of my father, his rules and controlling behavior. And it caused another disaster.
