John didn't come to school the next day. His mom said he was sick.

Andy thought he was just too scared to face Sra. Ricardo again. John had to bring Duo home for the entire week.

"Muy bien," Sra. Ricardo had exclaimed to the class. "John had more than enough time at home to practice his español now. I want you all to practice as much as him every day, cierto?"

"Sí, señora," said the class in unison.

Sor Juana sat on the bus silently with Caleb on the way home. "No me gusta la clase," she said.

"Me neither," Caleb said.

"You have to say yo tampoco," Sor Juana said. "Mi hermana said that she had to take Duo home too, and he eats kids who don't practice enough."

Caleb laughed. "Yeah, right, he eats kids," he said.

Duo was a plastic green owl. He couldn't do anything.
