Tw: past child abuse, anxiety tics
He sighs, squeezing his eyes shut and pulling the blanket up farther. His head was pounding and he couldn't stop shaking, he just wanted to fall back asleep.
As it turns out, it was two in the morning, wonderful start to the day.
He crashes in the living room, settling on the couch and using his pillow to cover his ears, he wasn't going to fall back asleep. He knows he's going to be irritable all day, considering leaving so the others won't have to deal with that, but he can't get up without worsening his headache so he stays. The tics don't help, every movement adding to his headache.
He tries to get himself under control before the others come down, he doesn't want to annoy them any more than he already does, they're dealing with enough and he didn't need to drag them down. He'd be fine, he just had to get through the rest of the day.
"Give, give, give, give," no one was awake yet, he could stim as much as he wanted, "give me a hug, give me a hug, can I please get a hug?" It helps, he feels better after, the anxiety slowing, the next thing he had to deal with was his headache. He walks to the kitchen, hoping to take some of Cali's tea to try and help with his headache.
"Give me hug, can I get a hug," he isn't paying much attention to his surroundings, assuming that since no one is awake it won't matter, "give me a hug-" he freezes when someone pulls him into their chest, heat rising to his cheeks, "uh-"
"I'm sorry-" It's DC, "I-I should've asked, I just assumed that- that because-" Florida wriggles around, turning so he can hug DC's torso, "-oh."
Florida bites his lip, arms tightening slightly around DC, his father would've hit him had he caught him stimming. DC was being so gentle, he didn't deserve that, he was being too loud, DC should've yelled at him. He was being annoying.
"Florida?" DC sounded concerned and Florida's anxiety comes rushing back, had he been ignoring DC? "Are you okay?" Florida sobs, hot tears in his eyes as he shakes his head, "Should I go-" Florida lets out a garbled cry, shaking his head desperately, "do you need me to just stay?" Florida nods, staring down, too afraid to meet DC's eyes. He wouldn't be able to handle it if DC looked upset with him. "I can do that." DC runs a hand through his hair, "I can definitely do that."
They stand there for a moment, Florida trying to catch his breath as DC talks him through his anxiety.
"'M sorry for doing that." Florida doesn't miss how DC stills, "I-I can stop, my anxiety isn't that bad anymore I can just-"
"Dia," DC cuts him off, "why do you think you need to apologize?"
It's silent while Florida thinks about it, why was he apologizing?
"Dad used to get mad at me, said I was being too loud and moving too much, he thought it was annoying," he pauses, "I just don't want to annoy you."
"You're allowed to stim," DC gently tilts Florida's head up, "it isn't annoying." He gives a soft smile, wiping Florida's tears with his thumbs, "we want you to be happy," he presses a kiss to Florida's forehead, "and if stimming helps then who cares? You don't care when we stim, do you?" Florida shakes his head, "well there you go," Florida smiles softly, "we don't mind you stimming."
Florida nods again, shutting his eyes and hiding his face in DC's chest again.
"Why don't we go to bed?" Florida nods, letting DC lead him back to his room. He was going to be alright, he just needed to give himself time.
