Florida slips up

Tw: alcohol, mention of cheating

"To the start of forever," Florida smiles, holding up his beer to Louisiana, who mirrors the gesture.

"To the start of forever." Louisiana and New York had started dating, and Florida was happy for them, really, he just wished he could be part of that relationship too.

He drowns the thought that they can do better with a large sip of his beer.

Louisiana laughs and takes a (smaller) sip of his own, "take it easy there sha, we got all night, don't we?"

Florida grins, "'course."

Louisiana sighs and leans back, the colors of the setting sun dance on his face and Florida thinks about how lucky New York got. Leaning back on his elbows, he tilts his head up to stare at the clouds passing by.

"You aight sha?" He hums in acknowledgement but doesn't reply. "What's on your mind?"

He shakes his head slightly and downs the last of his beer, "nothing important." He gives the biggest smile he can manage when Louisiana still looks worried, "come on man! We're celebrating! You shouldn't be worrying about me."

Louisiana gives a small nervous smile in reply and nods, taking another sip of his beer.

Louisiana drums his fingers on the roof anxiously for a moment before speaking again, "J'taime Florida."

"J'taime mon amour," Florida replies, smiling softly and opening another beer. Louisiana freezes and Florida realizes his mistake, "shit- Loui- I didn't mean- I don't-"

Louisiana's brow furrows, "I thought you didn't know French."

"I don't- I mean I do, but-" he shakes his head, "I do." He frowns, pulling his knees to his chest.

"So, you knew what I was saying?" Florida nods, looking away, "why didn't you saying anything?"

Florida shrugs, "I thought you could do better," Louisiana opens his mouth to reply but Florida continues before he gets the chance, "you're dating York now anyway, it doesn't matter." Florida sighs, "I ruined it, I shouldn't have said anything."

"You didn't ruin anything, I said it first, I just," Louisiana pauses, "wasn't expecting you to reply."

Florida snickers, "I can tell." Florida turns to him suddenly, "you weren't planning on cheating, were you? Cause if you were-"

"No, I'm not like that." Florida doesn't seem convinced but nods anyway.

"So, why did you say it?"

"York and I were talking, he said he wouldn't mind, so I figured why not?"

"And then I replied." Florida shakes his head, "now what?"

"Now I know you feel the same."
