"Hello there. You must be Virgil? You were out for 2 weeks. I'm Roman King, Remus' brother. It's nice to meet you."
______________________________
I groaned as I pushed the palm of my hand to my forehead, trying to numb the pain that was exploding inside my skull. I wanted it numb; better, gone. I adjust my eyes to the light of room before I focussed on a figure sat beside me. Wait... sat? I take notice in the fact I was laying down on something soft and walm, yet cold. A bed. Cream sheets pulled over me and stopping at my torso. The figure shifted and removed my hand.
"Ow-" I hissed, the feeling of the pressure was somewhat helping the ache.
"Believe me, what I'm doing will certainty help." The stranger said, their voice was soft with a flow, almost like silk. It wasn't husky and deep, but almost royal and strong. I felt something cold touch my head and my body went into autopilot as it shifted back to avoid it. "I'm sorry. Are you okay?"
"W-who are you?"
"I just told you... I'm Roman King, Remus' brother."
Remus. My body pushed itself up as my eyes scanned frantically around the room. The action seemed to scare Roman as he retracted his hand that held a wet cloth. "Remus. W-Where is he?"
"I need you to calm down. He's just in the other room. He's been stressed, thought he killed you."
"Why would he-"
"You've been passed out for 2 weeks. The longest has only ever been 3 full days."
I've been out for 2 weeks? It only felt like an hour.
"Why does my head hurt so bad?"
"You just died and came back to life, what did you expect? A coffin while you lay peacfully?"
He's sarcastic... I chuckle before he gentally pushes me back down onto the bed, my head back onto the pillow.
"I need to do a few check-ups then I shall escort Remus in here, that alright?"
"You're voice is strange..."
"What?" Roman straightened up as his body stiffened before he moved back towards me and yet again attempted to press the wet cloth to my forehead. I hissed again, but tried not to flinch back; the wet cloth against my throbbing headache felt like flames and if my head was any hotter, I could easily see steam.
"You're voice. British-American. American... with an almost British or Royal touch?"
"You're smart with an alert eye, it's a good quality. You're correct, I originate from Britain, more in fact... London. And as I travelled to America after death, Remus refused and chose to stay, moving from town to town before suspicion."
He removed the cloth and opened the it, folding it the opposite way. Saying it now, I acually wanted that cloth back. But then I didn't. He pressed the new side of the cloth back to my head and it almost felt colder than before.
"Now, the check up. Name?"
"Virgil Webb."
"Age?"
"23."
"Favourite colour?"
"Dark purple. Also a light green, like nature when the sky reaches noon in summer."
Roman looked shocked for a moment before shaking whatever thought was on his mind. "That's quite parcific."
"Yeah, well quite a few months ago I had all the time in the world."
"A few months ago?"
"Before I met Remus. Everyone hated me just because I looked like a vampire."
"You? A vampire?"
I pointed at my teeth as I gave a fake smile. Roman lent closer as his eyes locked with my teeth and he let out an airy laugh. "Wow, your canines are quite sharp, but they get sharper?"
"What?"
He smirked before his eyes turned red. I just sat and watched as he did the same thing that I had witnessed on Remus. His eyes were deep, deep, blood red and the whites faded to black. I watched as his perfect smile -much like Remus- transformed into the rows apon rows of jagged teeth. "This is what you can turn into now. You're a Keirith now."
"A Keirith?"
"Yes. Anyway-" He quickly shifted back to his original feature and cleared his throat with a cough. "Last question. How and what do you feel?"
"I have a headache, but other than that, I feel fine... wait, now that you mention it... I feel hungry..."
"Thought so. There's a glass for you on the side table and I'll get you something to eat. Would you like me to send Remus in?" Roman got up and started fixing the bed where he had sat and heading towards the door.
"Please?"
"Of course." And he was gone.
He had so much in common with Remus when it comes to looks, but there was still the major difference in the two.
Roman had left the cloth on my head so I reached for it and lifted it off, repeating his folding technique and dabbing it my head. Once I had, I wipped my now drenched forehead with my arm and placed the rag onto the side table. Then I noticed the drink. Somehing told me to drink it, but the sight of it made me back away on instinct. Is that blood?
My eyes snapped to the door just as Remus rounded the corner. He seemed to freeze as he noticed me. Sitting up, I gave him a smile to which he returned with a happy grin. "Hey shortie."
"Hi..."
He walked over and crawled up the bed, laying beside me, shoulder to shoulder. He took my hand and seemed to drag his fingers along my palm and drawing patterns. "I was worried about you."
"I know. You're brother said."
"You were stone, cold, dead for 2 weeks... I thought I had killed you..."
"Technically, I'm still dead."
Remus laughed and moved his shoulder that was touching mine. He shifted me onto his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around my waist, his other hand still drawing patterns over my knuckles. I rested my head on his chest before I moved higher, resting in the crook of his neck, his colorbone pressing on my cheek and my nose taking in his sent. Wow, he acually smells amazing, but not of any bottled fragrances. It was a natural odour.
"You smell nice."
"You always smell nice~" Remus whispered before kissing my head and I could feel the butterflies in me just from being this close to him.
"I'm so sorry." I whispered, bitting my lip.
"What you sorry for? I killed you."
"For not telling you sooner about me being gay."
"It's fine-"
"No, I lied to you... I should have told you but I lied."
He moved and looked down at me before he glanced at the drink beside me before looking back at me. "How about you have a drink, and talk about it later. I'm just happy you're alive."
I looked at the glass and saw the same, deep crimson that was fill 3/4 up the cup and gulped. "Is it blood."
"Yeah... but you need to drink. If you don't, you'll get hungrier and hungrier until you feed on the first thing with a heart beat until you're full."
That's sounds great! A heck of a party...
I reached over and grabbed the glass and pulled the thick liquid towards me. It looks discusting, but it's like my mouth desires it. Here goes nothing. I pressed the glass to my lips and tilted it up, the thick, metalic taste of blood ran down my throat... and I felt more alive than I had when I woke up. The headache was fading now and my throat felt like it was finally breathing. I drank half before moving it away and holding it up near my eyes.
"Woah..."
"I know, right? I'm gonna teach you everything there is to know, but first this will have to do."
I smiled and took another sip, it really did taste good. Once I pulled the glass away, Roman walked in with a smile and a plate. "Hey, you two."
"Hiya."
"Hi brother~"
I placed the glass back down before curling around around Remus' torso, him running his fingers through my hair. I've never been this close to him before, I would normally back away from him or try make it a 'friend gensture'; the closest I've ever been to him was when I died. When I was sat on his lap; when he sunk his teeth into me. The bed sunk beside me and a profound essence wafted through my nose. Turning my head, Roman was sat in the same spot he was when I woke up, but he had a plate in his hand that seemed to have some sort of raw meat on. I looked up at Remus and the weary look on his face made me unsure. I looked back at it as I spoke.
"What is that?"
"It's fle-"
"-Food. It's food. You're gonna need it if you don't want to go on a killing spree." Roman cut Remus off and the look of horror on Remus' face almost made me feel pissed off at his twin. Tsar or not or whatever Dean and Remus called him.
"Roman-! He needs to know."
"Yeah, well you killed the kid before you got permission-"
"What's the point in being like this if our nature is to kill-?"
"Laws are set so people don't do bad."
"You're the ruler of it all! Surely you of all people should understand love."
"Love can be shown in many forms. Romantic, platonic or toxic. And the toxic can twist. It's for our saftey. Just be happy you're my brother and I managed to convince the lords."
"You're Tsar-"
"Even I have rules, Duke." Roman turned his gaze back to me and placed the plate on my lap. "Eat up. You'll need your strength." And with that he stood and headed to the door and stopped again. "Logan will be in, in a hour for medical assistance."
"Medical... Assistance?" I asked, slightly unsure of what they were going to do. I've never needed medical assistance, even if I had, that would have been back in time I couldn't remember.
"Of course. Virgil... you were dead for 2 weeks, we need to find a source of why. Then we're all off to America."
"America?!" Remus and I asked at the same time, but Remus seemed upset more than confused. "Leave England?" I asked. Remus wrapped his arms around me tighter and I curled back into his chest, my eyes scanning over the plate of meat on my lap.
"I'm not leaving to America. What do they have to offer me?"
"You have no choice. You're my brother. And if you love Virgil so as you say, you must accompany us." He stated the last words directed to me before leaving for the 2nd time.
Remus was silent for a moment before he picked up the plate and moved the sheets, tucking it more around us and putting the plate back into it's original position.
"Remus... what is it?"
He kissed my head and cheek before resting his chin on my hair. "It's human flesh, love." I looked back at the meat and the same feeling I had from before the blood, just from the sight of the blood. The same, stomach turning feeling, but a strong desire to have it. But how on earth do I eat it? "Um... stormcloud?"
I moved the plate to the table again with the blood and turned to Remus. Even with the use of the nickname, he sounded serious. "Yeah?"
"Sorry about Roman. He's not usually rude or agumentive, he's just upset with me. I asked for his permission and by the time it got back, the 3 days had already bin and gone and I started freaking out so I sent another message about how you hadn't woken up. He came here as quick as he could and I had to tell him the truth and he got mad at me. I'm so sorry."
I sat up and cupped his face, locking our eyes together. "Don't be sorry. If anything, blame Dean-"
Remus had his hands on my hips as his eyes softened, one hand moving to brush my hair out of my eyes. "I'm the reason Dean did that. He wanted revenge on me."
"But he didn't have to get revenge. That was his choice."
Remus chuckled and pulled me closer slightly. "Why is it that you're the anxious one, yet you're always the one calming me down?"
"Because you stress too much and get angry way to easily~"
"Hey, those people deserved my fire for-"
I placed my hand over his mouth and he immediately stopped, closing his lips and just staring at me. He stroked his thumb down the side of my cheek, sometimes even tracing along my cheekbone in slow and soft motions. Even when I removed my hand from his lips, his eyes were still locked on me. My heart was fluttering under his gaze, never in my lifetime had I been looked at the way he was looking at me right now. Really looking at me.
"I love you, Virgil Webb. I've never felt the way I feel about you before." I rolled my eyes and smiled at him, but his expression never changed. "I mean it, Stormy."
"You're 207 years old, that can't be true."
"Technically I'm 231 years old, I just died 207 years ago... but no one's like you, Stormy. You see the way the towns people look at me. To them, I'm the piece of meat... and not in a cannibalism way. Then when people got to know me, they find me weird, but you stayed. When I met you, I heard what towns people said about you, and I thought you might find my weird... different, and better than all those stuck up villagers. I hoped you would understand me for me... and you did! Even when Dean did what he did, you still trusted me! Well... you were scared at first..."
I pushed his hair back from his face and cupped his face again. "I wasn't scared, my anxiety may have been a part of it, but I was in shock more than anything."
"See! That's why I want this to be internity... because you're you. And I want nothing else."
Woah... I... just woah....
"I love you Remus King."
"I love you too Virgil Webb."
Staring into his eyes are like getting lost in maze that you don't mind getting lost in, and I could watch his eyes forever. He traced his index finger down the side of my face and under my chin. Our faces inching closer but my eyes never left his. Soon enough, my eyes slipped shut as our lips pressed together. He slipped his arms around my torso and held my body close to his, his body heat penatrating onto me as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Our lips moving in sync.
"Sorry to break the moment, but Roman informed me that Virgil was awake so I came early."
We broke apart and we both sighed. We both looked over my shoulder. A tall and slim man was standing at the door with his arms crossed over his chest. He wore a navy blue suit with less design as you would see on most and thick black rimmed glassed on the bridge of his nose. His hair slicked back and his face held no emotion. Who the hell?
"Really Logan?"
"Acually, I'm glad I walked in now. Who knows what I could have walked into if I waited any longer."
Logan's here for my checkup. What did he mean when he said-... oh...! My cheeks flushed and I quickly slid back to my original seat beside Remus, Logan walking over and grabbing a chair from a desk and sitting beside me. Remus shifted so his body was facing me and Logan while wrapping me in his arms. He's warm and whatever that smell on him is, it's calming.
"So you have a headache?"
"Did. It's gone now..."
Logan nodded and looked at the bedside table before turning back to me. "Did you drink the blood okay?"
"Yeah, it taste fine."
"And the meat? It looks untouched."
"Because it is?"
"You need to try it. We need to make sure your body reacts to it okay."
I looked at the flesh again and cringed, scrunching my nose and trying to sink into Remus more. "It looks and smells horrid. How do you expect me to eat that?"
Remus laughed and pressed his lips to my shoulder as Logan rolled his eyes and pulled out a notebook and a pen from his pockets and flipping the small, black, book open. "You are just as sarcastic as Roman. If not, you're worse."
"Thank you."
"Okay." Logan grabbed the plate and held it out infront of him, moving it closer to me. "Try eat it."
"No thanks."
He sighed and placed it into his lap before writing something into the book. "Let me guess, you have anxiety?"
What? How can he tell? I haven't shown any of my usual symptoms...
"Honestly... how did you know?"
"In my life time, I have never met anyone smarter than myself. I notice and observe situaltions. The way you are pressing yourself against Remus shows that your not that welcoming to strangers... or people in general. The way Remus has his arm around you is in a protective manner even though knowing I hold no reason to harm."
Okay, damn. Logan looked at Remus, his expression never changing. "Have you ever seen him eat?"
"No, but he does eat if that's what your asking."
"No, Duke. I can tell he's healthy. A little slim, but healthy. The fact he doesn't even eat infront of his closest companion-"
"Boyfriend. I'm his boyfriend- gosh it feels good to say that~" Remus nuzzled into my neck and pressed a kissed behind my ear. No matter how tough he is, he can really be sappy and adorable, even when we were friends. It really does feel good to be able to call him my boyfriend.
"Boyfriend, friend or even husband, you have not seen him eat. Some -not all- but some people with anxiety tend to eat early or late when other people are around in fear of being judged for the way they eat."
Oop. He's got me there.
"I haven't been diagnosed."
"Maybe not, but I am diagnosing you now. You're docters here in England are terrible. Anyway, back to the topic. Eat." He finished writing in the notebook and handed the plate back to me. I took the plate and scrunched my nose again.
"Look... I want to, but I can't."
"Explain more."
"It looks... strange and my body is telling me to eat it, but when I look at it... I wanna throw up." I watched as he scribbled more in the book and turned the page, looking back at me. "Do we have chicken? I want that." Wow... my body is really starting to crave, I'm actually really in the mood for chicken.
"We need you to try this." I shook my head no, feeling Remus press another kiss to my shoulder-blade. "Are you a vegetation?"
"No."
"Then we need you to try."
I groan and looked at Remus, leaning close to his ear. "Can we go back to making out? I'll much prefer that." Remus laughed and pressed his lips to mine, but pulling back before I could react.
"One bite? Please baby? I know your not worried about it, but you were gone for 2 weeks... I'm worried..."
Oh god... and his eyes... I do not feel good about this. I looked at the plate again before rolling my eyes and reaching forwards. I teared a bit off as if it was chicken and put it in my mouth and covered my lips as I chew. Turning my gaze to Logan, he held an expecting look, making me quickly swallow and remove my hand.
"So... you feel anything?"
"I feel... nothing. I guess it was fi-..." I do not feel okay. Remus' loosned his grip on me as I sat up holding my mouth again.
"Baby?"
My stomach was twisting and cramping. I might thow up, but the only thing in ky system is the blood and that small piece of flesh. I pushed the plate back into Logan's hands and rushed to get out of the bed. Not used to being on my feet yet, I stubbled through the door and through the corridors. And I knew Remus was following me. I needed to get to the bathroom.
I passed Roman who seemed to give me a confused look and someone I didn't recognise, but they seemed to try run after me aswell, along side Remus. I rushed inside the bathroom and threw open the toilet lid bowl as my body hurled. My mouth burned and my vision started shifting: the colour and lighting was no different, but almost like my sight was taking in every detail before flashing in the different views, until it stopped. I reached forwards and flushed the fluids away and closed the lid.
Remus rushed in and sat beside me, pulling me onto his lap and running his hand through my hair and rubbing my back. I didn't bother to look, but I felt another presence enter aswell, then another and another.
I wiped the back of my hand against my lips, finding blood dripping down my chin causing me to panic.
"Virgil, breath for me. My heart with your heart~" I felt my spare hand move to Remus' chest and my eyes moved up to focus on him and something in me shifted and I immediately calmed down. "Everything's going to be okay. I love you~"
"I love you too."
"I'm confused. What's going on?" Roman asked, and I could tell by his voice. I looked at him and noticed the other stranger I had passed earlier standing beside Roman. He was in light blue with round glasses and there was a caring vibe about him. His hair was a dark blonde with perfect, fluffy, curls that I honestly would want to pat; not that I admit it.
"Virgil's body rejected human flesh." Logan calmly said. Does that guy show any emotion?
"Rejected human flesh? That's unheard of."
"No it's not. There was this one family that was cursed, and a Keirith tried to turn one of them. It worked, but the girl that was turned was different. She couldn't eat human flesh, but she could drink their blood. Apparently she craved chicken quite a bit aswell. Their bloodline still exists which is amazing! And you can spot them because of their really blue eyes and sharp canine teeth but their really rare to find!" That was a lot of information... I glanced at Logan who seemed to have an impressed fave before walking off to who knows where.
"Patton... This family... what was their name?"
"I can't remember! I just remember finding it ironic that their last name reminded me of 'O hallows eve'." The person who I assum is Patton giggled. "Hallows eve... hallows eve has... witches, ghosts... dead people... spiders! Spiders are scary! Spiders make webs- WEBBS!!! Their last name was Webb."
"What?!" Damn... did I scream that? I curled up into Remus' arms, and accidentally hitting my elbow on the bowl of the toilet. "Ouch..." Remus laughed and kissed my cheek before ridding my chin of the remaining blood.
"Why was that so shocking?" Patton asked with an innocent frown, like what is with him? How can you look so innocent and caring and be in this time era?
Roman smiled at Patton and nudged him on the shoulder. "Darling, meet Virgil Webb." Patton covered his mouth in shock once he heard my last name and it made me chuckle. "Virgil, meet Patton King. My husband."
"Husband? Wow. How long?"
Patton uncovered his mouth with a smile and jumped up and down, holding onto Roman's shoulder. "Almost years 187 years!!"
"Damn!" Logan appeared once again and stalked over, crounching down and handing me my drink of blood, that looked to be topped up a bit. "Thank you." He nodded and stepped back to be with the others. Taking a sip, I feel instantly better.
"Patton, was there anything else you remember from the 'curse', by any chance?"
"Oh Logy~ You're the smart one, I can only remember from the children books! The Webb family was the only human family to help us when we went into war against the humans in the 12th century. But for their crimes of going against their kind, they were cursed by witches! Can't remember what the curse was..." He seemed to think for a while before shaking his head and smiling.
I took a small sip of the blood again before placing the glass down onto the floor and standing up, pulling Remus up with me by his hand. I lent back down and quickly picked the drink up before facing them.
"The curse might have been anxiety."
"No. That's caused through experience and emotion, it can't be cursed. Maybe if it was always to feel in a paranoid state or in a feeling of such as an attack, but not cursed."
"I was joking. I got anxiety from my mum... so wrong side of the family."
They seemed to think for a moment, giving me just enough time to feel out of place and uncomfortable. I walked forwards and squeazed between them, them moving slightly to let me past. Remus chased after me down the halls of the ancient castle until he was by my side, his hand in mine.
"Are you okay?"
"How could I have not known? I left my family back in London when I was 21. I've been here for almost 3 years. Couldn't I have atleast known..."
Remus stopped me in our tracks and slipped his hand away, cupping my face "Maybe the curse shifted a bit, and through time it wasn't noticeable and people forgot. You're family probably didn't know, themselves. I'm here and you're here. That's all we need for us. And I'm sure as hell that's all I need."
Damn. I lent closer and wrapped my arms around his neck with a smile. "This is one of the reasons I fell inlove you, Remus King."
He smiled back at me before connecting our lips in a sweet yet passionate kiss. And I do love him. I've loved him since he first spoke to me. Now we're being shipped off the America, I've never even attempted to touch a boat before.
______________________________
We arrived at the docks. In America. And truth be told - I'm not getting back on another ship. The distance between the two places only took a week and a half due to some sort of Keirith magic or whatever, but we had incounted a storm that lasted a night and Remus had to stay with me throughout the night to stop my panic attack. I had acually gotten to know them more though. Roman -although knowing his height in power- seemed to the best royalty I've ever heard of. Patton always seemed to tell the others off when they did something recless or just acted older just like a parent. Logan seemed to be the smartest and an insufferable know-it-all. And I already knew Dean - or as the others seem to say: Deciet Jeane - to be the scary and creepy guy who always seemed to watch me with a judging glare soon became to a caring brother. Patton even called him Janus once. So bascially I don't know his real name.
Remus had his arm around my waist and kissed my head. "Don't worry, I've never been here either."
Sorry again for ending this so short, I lost motivation for this a while ago. The first part was an idea I had for a school project but couldn't do it as sander sides or as a romance. Even when I was writing it here, I was only writing to half of my ability.
About my new account, I've acually been thinking about giving the account out early but there is nothing on there quite yet. I am half way through the 1st chapter of my dukexiety book. If you would like to check it out and read the book from the last chapter (once it's out), the account name is RemusIsAQueen78 It's a bad name, but it was the first thing that came to mind when I created the account.
