CHAPTER 1 (Part 2/2)
She chose the type of coffee she wanted and returned the menu to the waiter, but Asira ordered another piece of cake for her and she muttered.
“I don't often eat cakes.”
"What's wrong? Don't like it? No wonder you're so skinny." He analyzed: "Or do you want to stay in shape like other girls?"
“No, my mother at home doesn't like it so I don't buy it.”
“It seems like you're very clingy to your mother.”
“No clinging, just me and mom together. As for my other relatives... they don't have much to do with me. She only has me so I don't want to hurt her."
Is that so?” He muttered. “What did your mother say that day when you brought so many people into the house?”
“That's my aunt's house. Our house is located in Mae-rim, Chiang Mai.”
“Eh, if you go to Bangkok to work, what will your mother do?”
“My mother is about to move to Bangkok so she asked me to apply for a job here. Mom said if I had a stable job, she would move with me."
"Ah." He nodded in response. “I understand, I passed by that place many times, saw your aunt selling cakes, I don't understand why you don't like to eat cakes. It turns out that's your aunt's house."
"Yes." She smiled, at that moment they both looked towards the parking lot in front of the building and saw a girl getting out of a silver Benz, which Dujapsorn recognized immediately. Asira stopped speaking and followed her eyes as she saw Kanlaya walking towards the door of the building with an impatient look on her face, before getting out to the car and leaving the place with the other girl. She immediately spoke up.
"They met for lunch. Her mother is a friend of Mrs. Kanlaya and said she had already booked a table."
Asira turned around and raised her eyebrows.
"Actually?"
“Yes, she said that while waiting for the first interviewer.”
“The lines of connection are literally everywhere.” He laughed loudly. “I was imagining how Mrs. Kanlaya would reply to her friend.”
“Maybe she won't dare copy your words to answer.” Dujapsorn quipped, causing Asira to lift her face and laugh out loud in amusement.
“I am a soldier, a straightforward person, I don't like to put on a false face. That woman is the type of character I would absolutely never get involved with.”
“You have very sharp eyes.” She sincerely praised.
“What made you come to that conclusion?”
"Not long into our conversation, she told me to go home because the position had been reserved for her, and an interview would be a waste of time."
“But you didn't come home.”
“No, I don't want a stain on my record. The company called me for an interview and then disappeared like that."
"Good girl." Asira praised, stopped talking for a moment, the waiter brought coffee and cakes in front of her, then spoke again. “That means my company is still lucky.”
“But she can come back and apply for another position.” She scoffed.
“But not my department.”
Dut-apsorn smiled slightly before picking up a small piece of cake and putting it in his mouth. She wasn't too used to eating alone with men, especially the one who was about to become her superior in the near future.
“Um, can I ask you something?”
"Alright." He allows it.
“Why did you choose not to be a soldier anymore?”
He shrugged before shoveling the cake into his mouth, chewing two or three pieces before answering.
“Because of boredom… maybe? After serving my country, I must return to serve my family. My father often complains that there is no one to help with the housework. Most of the uncles have their own jobs and only come to the company when there is a board meeting. My brothers also chose their own life path. Some people come to help their parents' business, some people pursue their dreams."
“So…, should I call you boss? Or Mom Luang… um… do you have any suggestions?”
Please call me Petch, that's what my family calls me. Asira has two meanings, either sun or diamond. My mother is already the sun in the family. If I were another sun, the house would be very hot so my dad called me Petch." He explained, making her smile brightly.
*Petch, meaning diamond.*
“And you can call yourself Fah.”
"Oh my god..." She bowed her head in shame, the two had only met for less than an hour, she didn't dare to make friends so quickly.
“Consider it an order.”
She shook her head slightly before analyzing.
“You still act like a soldier.”
"In some cases." He summarizes before explaining further. “Dad allowed me to do what I loved, which was being a soldier, until the moment I decided to go back to work for the family because I knew he needed help. He is old, even though he is healthy, he still does not dare to let go until I am strong enough to continue managing the family's affairs. But it will probably take many more years, because I still need to learn a lot. I just finished my master's degree, we should study together."
"I…"
He frowned, and she immediately corrected herself.
"Fah doesn't dare compare himself to Mr. Petch, but if Fah can do anything to help the company, Fah is very willing."
"Very good." He picked up the coffee cup and drank it all. "I have work to do. I have a meeting this afternoon. Unfortunately I don't have much time. Otherwise I would invite you to lunch."
"Oh, that alone is a great favor. Fah was very happy to see that kind soldier again. If it weren't for your help at that time, neither Fah nor those students could have lived. If the opportunity arises in the future, Fah hopes to repay Mr. Petch kindness."
“It's just a small thing, I'm just doing my responsibility. Talk to you later."
Asira took out a pen from her pocket, pulled out the lined paper, turned it over to write the number before giving it to her.
"My phone number, as for your number, I already have it on your resume. I'll let Ms. Jum contact you about the work day."
Dujapsorn opened his mouth in surprise. He just gently lifted her chin before narrowing his eyes and leaving with long strides as fast as the wind. But what remained was the warmth surrounding her body and the vibration around her soft, strangely beating heart.
She turned to look at the tall figure wearing a shirt and straight pants walking towards the door of the building. She couldn't help but admit that he was a charming manly man, before gently sighing and thinking heavily that... could the plan to defeat Jutathep be carried out by someone as small as her? But once she has come this far, she must continue to be determined to follow her mother's wishes...
Dujapsorn stepped out of the taxi in front of a giant wooden door, worthy of an ancient Thai family's palace. The sign in front is engraved on a bronze plaque 'Taewaprom Palace' but the white of the wall seems to be yellow and there are water stains causing moss to grow. As for the wooden door, it looks quite rotten, the wood paint has mostly faded, leaving only the stained wood that looks like it's about to be damaged.
She did not dare touch the big door but used the small door located next to the small shop that was closed because Aunt Ketsara moved the traditional bakery to another place after getting married. Her business thrived, selling in large stores and having many branches throughout Bangkok.
For this reason, her aunt came up with the idea of selling cakes for consumption and also to have enough income to cover her life. Later, she expanded the seating area to eat cakes and drinks, and customers also came to support more than before. She rang the bell at the small door. Not long after, Weo, a veteran palace maid about 60 years old, ran out of breath to open the door.
"Miss Fah is back?"
The bell rang as the door opened and as Weo stepped inside, Weo carefully locked the door. Normally Tewaprom Palace is not often open to welcome visitors, it can be said that it is the worst time. The palace was huge and needed a large amount of money for improvements and maintenance, most of which came from Ketsara, her grandfather's sole caretaker. As for her mother, she never mentioned money to repair the palace. She doesn't even have enough money for monthly expenses. If she doesn't have enough money every month, she will be mentally prepared to often encounter her mother's emotional storms.
“Yes, Aunt Weo.” She replied.
"Are you tired? Drink a glass of cool water first."
"I'm not tired, where is my mother?"
"In her room."
“Then Fah comes to greet grandpa first.”
"Yes my lady."
She walked up the stairs that she had just gotten used to. After departing with her mother to Tewaprom Palace, this was the second time she set foot in the palace where her mother grew up and lived until she married her father and then never returned.
As she approached the room, her steps gradually slowed down when she heard her mother's cries and screams. Dujapsorn swallowed the sticky saliva on his neck. I don't know if my mother's medicine stopped working or she forgot to take it. As soon as I walked out the door, I heard noises from inside.
“Rampa refused, they ruined Rampa's life. They must pay the price, Rampa curses them to meet their end, prays for ruin and collapse, prays for them to live worse than die like they did to Rampa!
